    I got mikes opinion

dude, my rule of thumb is simple....if you GOT THE MONEY for two of them GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! even if its sealed...ouputwise, it may be similar but you'll have more control and a tighter sound... if you got the flow, theres no reason NOT to... ported is the way to go if you want louder sound for a cheaper price at the cost of space and some sq...

    RL-P XXX COMPARISON?

i've never listened to the xxx but i'm sure its loud...but for $150 less, i'm extremely happy with my rlp...it does a daym good job pounding my head out and sounds great... for that $150 got a kick ass amp to pound it...total of under $450...
  3. i took my box out of the car for a while... can i put just 100 watts to the rlp 15 and will that be ok? or will i under power it and distort it and blow it up? its tuned to 28htz by the way in a 3.5 cube box

using only 100 watts in HT with rlp 15 ported?

i could be wrong but i don't find thats the case for home theater amps.. they're mostly 8 and 4 ohms... cheaper ones like partsexpress plate ones anyways...

using only 100 watts in HT with rlp 15 ported?

cool thanks...i think i got it now... what pisses me off is that i got a dual 4 ohm sub and buying a nice amp like one from parts express (1000 @ 4 ohm, 550 @ 8 ohm) this will not maximise the amp...i'lll only be getting 550 watts from the amp that could be putting out 1000 watts wished i coulda gotten a dual 2 ohm sub...aw wells...tanks anyways guys...

    WOW

if u just want load @ss bass to shake your nuts, then there are alot of OTHER choices out there... but if you want something that will shake your nuts AND sound just unf#ckingbeliveable, daym accurate and smooth, then the rlp is for you! no doubt bout it....

    What do you think?

chinny, brotha! do u really want to spend $600 on a amp? i really don't know how much u ACTUALLY got saved up or can save up or how much u have right now or nor do i want to insult your intellegence but you really don't need to spend $600 on a amp if you still got "save" up your pennies... get either a opti1400d for ported or 2000d for sealed... they are like $350 and have a 3 year warrantee too... i guess u can get the nine.1 also for 2 of them... but honestly bro, if you don't have $600 for the amp + $550 for the subs, don't do dream about something you really can't afford... not trying to diss you in any way, i'm just saying know your budget...spend accordingly...if you are going to eat ramen for the next year to do it, more power to ya... if you really do have all this money...greattt go for it...

    12" rl-p vs 12" avalanche (specs only)

i honestly do not really know what you just said mike but i know this is true: when i had my 2 jl 12w3's, and the 2 12w0's, my fricken head would hurt even if the daym thing was not even turned all the way up... my new rlp does not do anything like this at all...all i hear is pure music...and loud @ss bass...my head and ears don't feel like they are going to bleed... NOT kidding...you can say that this is all in my head but i swear its the truth... after i read what u wrote, that thought brought me back to that...

    12" rl-p vs 12" avalanche (specs only)

yes sir eeeeeeee for $225, how could u go wrong? i donno...i'm gonna have to maybe debate about the single 15 ava or 2 atlas 15's now...

    12" rl-p vs 12" avalanche (specs only)

    Rl-p 15 and ed nine.1

well i think you're gonna be like me then...you are not going to optimize the full power of the amp cus its gonna be a dual 4 ohms sub... look into a mono amp that will give u ful power at 2 ohm mono if u want to optimize the amp... i guess you can argue that it will be cleaner being only at 2 ohm instead of 1... just lettin u know...

    2 rl-p sealed or 1 rl-p ported

i've said it before and i'll say it again...its all about the $$$ if you got the cash, no doubt i'd go with 2 rlp's sealed in a heartbeat... if u don't, i'd go with one and port it...
  13. 2 lit jit

Maybe you guys can help me?

how much DO you have? if u have enough room, port them...they will sound good either the 12 or the 15... u can't go wrong...the sq is be nearly just as good and i'm sure most people won't even be able to tell the difference... the 15's will also get louder... if u got the $ and got the room...a pair of 15's ported will blow u away..my single 15 is enough for me...i got it in a 3.0 cube tuned to 32...very nice!!! daym loud...and sq is very clean and under controlled...

Need help with amp and box

decent amp quality and sound for around $200 with 800rms? non other then a vibe1200d...that beast will give you 1200rms at 1 ohm but since u will be sucking only a 2 ohm load, it has shown to give you 800rms at 2 ohms mono... http://www.carsound.com/reviews/amps/vibe1200d.html it shouldn't be more then 250 shipped...if u want to buy used too, try to find a 801d online... which box to build? what kind of music do u like listening to? do u like it loud and kinda bloomy or do u want accuracy? good luck my friend...

    PORT TUNE and BOX SIZE

that is quite low of a tuning... i was also under the impression that one should keep the rli 500 and below and 800 and below for "best" reliablity...
  24. alright, i ordered my rlp 15, dvc 4 ohm...def looking forward to it...its going to powered by a MTX 801D...800 rms, in a 5th gen civic coupe...i've build about a dozen boxes before but only done sealed...only lately i've been aquainted with winisd and other port determining programs...so i want to build my first ported box... max outter lenght = 34.5" - pretty much written in stone max outter height = 15.5" - pretty much written in stone max outter width = up to 23 inches on bottom, 19 on top, this is a wedge box... - can be (shorter) smaller, not written in blood max outside cube = 6.49 cubes ********|-----------\ sub is***|*********\ facing***|**********\ this side*|____________\ 35^2 inch of port = (total height - 1.5) * (needed width) --> 35 = 14.0" * 2.5" the main thing is i don't know how long the port is going to be...mike told me winisd does not do a good job with tc subs so i am kinda clueless about how long to make the port to get a tuning frequency of 28-32 with the net volume for the SUB to be 2.6 - 2.8 cubes... although i can put up to a 6.5 outter dementions NOT net cube, i want some space for my junk too...that is why i really want to make the NET to be around 2.6 - 2.8, excluding the needed room for the port dispalcement and the room for the displacement of the wood..., if the total volume can be smaller, reduce the two width sizes with the top always 4 inches shorter than the bottom...I am also very curious about how this is going to work out with the WEDGE box on the back side...i don't know how the port is going to be effected if i need to extend the lenght to the back of the box... i already posted a question in the unoffical forum but hopefully i get some answers here because of the traffic... thanks!!! i hope the answers i get here will help some poor soul too in the future too

newbie needs help with rlp 15 box - LONG

    just to give the updates: mike says she's on her way :D:D anyways, i did some more searching and putzing around...seems like the online calc mrray gave me and winisd is VERY VERY close to each other...so i'm assuming its going to be correct... i put in same amounts for each one and i got very close figures...all in inches! 2.5 Cubes Tune: 28hz Winisd = 41.14 OnlineCalc = 41.99 Tune: 30hz Winisd = 35.06 OnlineCalc = 35.79 Tune: 32hz Winisd = 30.08 OnlineCalc = 30.71 2.6 Cubes Tune: 28hz Winisd = 39.33 OnlineCalc = 40.14 Tune: 30hz Winisd = 33.48 OnlineCalc = 34.18 Tune: 32hz Winisd = 28.69 OnlineCalc = 29.29 2.7 Cubes Tune: 28hz Winisd = 37.65 OnlineCalc = 38.43 Tune: 30hz Winisd = 32.02 OnlineCalc = 32.68 Tune: 32hz Winisd = 27.98 OnlineCalc = 27.98 2.8 Cubes Tune: 28hz Winisd = 36.09 OnlineCalc = 36.83 Tune: 30hz Winisd = 30.66 OnlineCalc = 31.30 Tune: 32hz Winisd = 26.21 OnlineCalc = 26.76 looks like u can't go wrong with either one... So since i am going to try to get a 2.5 cube box, which one should i tune it to? give me a suggestion...thanks
