"While we keep working towards the v.2 the v.1 will remain available for a while as I'm still not 100% happy with the v.2i bet that a sa-8 v2 with good ouput like the v1 or better, but softer parts to help make the sub go deeper, that could work well on a sealed enclosure will make the v2 a better sub. more like the so called ""SQL"" type of sub... hmmmmm.....

hi guys, just kinda confused???
i know that box would be like the RLi-8, but if you have 2, iv read that...
This driver is a good candidate for very small sealed boxes. For vented boxes, it would be most practical to use more than one driver in a shared chamber, as the net volume must be kept relatively low in order to achieve a flat response. Of course, if you don't mind a li'l bit of peakiness, you can always go larger. I'd suggest anywhere from 0.2 - 0.5 cu ft net volume per driver tuned between 30 - 35 Hz.- so does 2 on a sealed also mean to be on common chambers?
- if ported, it has to be really towards the small side like .3cubes each?
- what happens if tuned like mids 20's instead of the 30hz range?
i also saw a post in youtube, the mentioned that a sigle driver, installed on a 2 cubic ft enclosure tuned 20-26hz can go down to 11hz? can somebody also confirm that too?
oh, if its true, then would this mean that power requirements also will go gown to maybe 200W due to the large enclosure?
thanks.

thanks jay-cee. do you think the .5 mdf would be strong enough? specially for a sub with 500watts and i think 18mm of xmax? wouldn't the enclosure break?
0 -
was thinking of really doing that, im just afraid coz i dont think i have the skills for that. im not sure on how to strengthen the enclosure that way unlike with mdfs.
anyways, the size ive mentioned above is using a 3/4 mdf wood.

@ jay-cee - im not asking anybody to research for me, im asking people who might have experience good subs that goes on those tiny enclosures. ok, if among the 3 i posted, whats your bet?
@ Don Ganso - its going to be placed in a trunk behind the tail lights. one on each side, trying to get the most out of the space available in the trunk.

@jay-cee
ENCLOSURE RECOMMENDATIONS:
Sealed: .75 cu.ft.
Sealed: .90 cu.ft. optimal
this would be in net, the my req of .5 .6 will be out...
@ bigrank916
sorry my mistake, updated now, the price would be for a pair already... really limited on space, budget and i need 2 for the total install looks.
im placing one on each side of the tail lights in the trunk.

hi guys, i would like to ask for some options to look at. need some inputs here,
what sub would be good for a .5 - .6 enclosure / 200-500rms / decent lows / good SQ, sounds good even for metal, rap, hiphop, etc.
( so something with a little SPL on it)?
so far only things i see are PG RSDc 10", RE SR 10", and RE REx 10"
do i have any other options on this?
good price would be around $200 and highs on $300 for a pair.
so $100 - $150 each...

learn what? learn all the specs of all 10's and 8's available on the market, may it be good or bad?
the purpose of this thread is to limit the options and not expand it...

yup, if im not mistaken its a JL 500/1 V1, - ive been doing some checking even
SS RL-i 8's though not avail, i even thought of the orphans, though i need options that would really be good for his needs. small, efficient that can go loud yet still sound good. specially from current or past users that might have gone through the same needs as my friend.
thanks.

Hi guys, i was wondering if you can give some suggestions for a sub that my friend could use with the info i got from him...
- small maybe 10" or even 8"
- musical sounding sub
- can go loud abit i think?
- good for sealed enclosures
- good for 500W only or maybe less for efficiency
- max of $300 if possible
i think the reason for small is he plans to put in in the corner of the trunk. behind the tail lights. and if im not mistaken, he needs it for .7 or less cubes after displacement. he was thinking of putting flat subs/slim subs but i advised him to wait, and ill try to get more suggestions for i think slims subs output would not be enough for him, but if you can suggest slim subs with very a very good amount of output and can still remain musical for hip hop, R&B, techno/trans well he listens to all sorts of music..... pls do so. he thought of the pioneer slim subs due to price and with $300, he can get 2, one for each tail light location.
if you need more info pls ask so i can clarify and ask him about it.
thanks for any suggestions.

why not just get a line driver? it can boost up you pre out voltage really high, and in some brands, i think it can even go as high as 11 volts... instead of getting processor if the goal is just to increase the loudness on the sub area?
its alot cheaper than getting a processor, which the processor does no normally do, and is not normally a function of a processor.

thanks for the replies, might hold off a bit right now, rumors say that the Pioneer P99RS would be arriving to our shores... and was told that its almost half the price of the P9 combo... hmmm....
still thanks, i guess its really the P800PRS over the CD7200mkII....

hi guys, i know alot has been ask about this 2 HU's, more often discussed on, "it looks fugly", "it has better tuning capabilities", "it has this pico fuse prob" and many more...
frankly now i know i cant get the best HU i want due to cost so i have to get the best i can do with my current budget...
Pioneer P800PRS or Eclipse CD7200mkII...
im already aware of most specs... right now i would just like to ask from people who have used the 2 or have some experience on it.... tuning wise, i know it would be a debate as to parametric is better that graphic or vice versa... and to some, they even say the 7band parametric can be as powerful as the 16band graphic... so my only question is...
which one has better "sonic character"? out of the box... no tuning... flat settings...

RE's aresaid to be good too... the SE's are more towards SQ bass while the SX is loud bass...

the only thing about powerbass that I can find is they are cheap speakers that are very hard to get a hold of. As for soundstream I don't know where to even start looking for prices and explanation of speakers. Everytime I try to look up something on their website it take me to a page nothing about component speakers. And also, all thes companies have different types of components like Fi as BTL BL Q...etc. Which one should I go for? And why when considering powerbass or soundstream front ends?
i have already given you the brand and model that should give you easy access as to what and where to search them in their site...
and why consider them? because the two models i have given you is simply for the purpose that you can go loud yet with clear vocals and highs even if your a block away...
street bass / DB Drag style...

Guys...
hope everything is ok... lets just have this as a healthy discussion ok...
so to hdrox88, zach gates and duran... care to share any knowledge on the subs that may fit good with my needs?

Ah, obviously you see how misleading your original post in your thread was. I'd change my statement based on the new information, but you have to understand that 95% of the people that would post what you did first my statement would have been right for. The biggest problem you have is the "only 2 cuft". A 15" sealed IMO would fit your goals better. Considering your goals, here are some 12's I'd look at: Seas Lotus SW300, SS Rlp, Peerless XXLS, JL W6, (I'll leave the $1k Focals out of this). There are others that would fit that I haven't heard, but I will say that I'd take any of the above before an IDMax but I'd also take an IDQ over it.
hmmm... thanks for that M5/// - care to share also on the 15's? peerless XXLS comes on 12's but no 15's, the W6 and IDQ would only be on 15's if we consider old models... but the SS Rlp i know comes in 15's...
checking Seas lotus SW300.....

just to add...
FLAT - meaning, less tuning as possible for it to sound good... not too much peaks and dips like SPL configured subs if we check RTA for it...
and another... one sub i have check with my requirements is the ID MAX V3 dito....
1.5 cubes sealed
good SQ with capability to go loud
1000watts RMS
im just asking for other options for me to look at... so i can audition and compare which one would be to my likeness...

only option other that that would be the P800PRS...
also on that same situation... havent decided yet. seems to me both are good, but have diff. sonic characteristics... P800 having i think the warmer sound, while the eclipse having the more neutral sound... better check your list of equipment... and see possibilities of it complementing the entire system...

soundstream pros...
8" midbass, 6.5"midrange and horn loaded type tweeters.

I already have my mind set on the BTL. Its right in my price range, good for my electrical and the best that I know of for the price. Id like to find frontend speakers in this thread, not woofers.Just wondering what you guys think of the Hertz HSK 165.4 ( this is the 165.3 version though). I found a place here that I could get these for 350$. Are they worth it for a daily driver street beater / comp car? I know they are more for sq than spl (i am trying to pair them with a single 18" Fi BTL). I like to listen to more than just rap and bass cds so i think these should do well with the BTL (which is a monster). I have also noticed that the hertz website says these are only two way speakers but the magazine I have says the HSK 165.4's are 3 way...don't know, kind of confused.
If you guys wouldn't pair these speakers up with the BTL, what would you for front end?
some other forums of people talking about these:
http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/product-selection-comparisons/62684-2009-hertz-hsk-165-4-a.html
the Hertz HSK are good for so called Loud and clear applications. more on street bass set up. if its SQ, that would be the MLK's...
if your going for a really loud system but balance on highs and vocals, try soundstream pros, Powerbass XL4's or if you have the budget the CIARE's...
IMHO - any speaker i think can be used for SPL, as long as the system would be properly tuned, and XOVERS are set properly.
the brands and models i have mentioned are for tweeters and midrange/midbass not subs... search them out...

I can guarantee you one thing from your post. You will NOT like an SQ setup.
lol... sorry if some seems to be confusing...
well i said 1k for the sub amp bec, that is what i have and will be using. i can however turn down the gain though...
ok here goes...
rest of the install...
3ways up front. legatia L4 and L1v2 on the dash/pillars, scanspeak W18 classic kevlar cone on the doors as midbass
2 JL slash v2 300/4... 1 for each channel (L / R), and a slash v2 1000/1 for the sub.
HU, still deciding on a pioneer P800PRS or Eclipse CD 7200mkII

1 sundown SA8 enough?
in Subwoofers / Speakers
Posted
i was able to borrow an SA-8 from a friend of mine to test it out, to me, 1 SA 8 is enough and sometimes more than i even need... its in a ported box tuned low, just not sure at what frequency, early 30's to mid 30's i guess...
sounds good to me, tunable also the way i like it.
