  1. do sundown have good sound charateristics like DLS and Audison?
  2. hope to get some inputs for the sub. it could be a single 12", dual 12", dual 10" or a single 15". car to be designed on is a 96 accord. target is to be able to play loud but accurate. meaning it can play rap, techno/trans, soft/ballads, rock etc., still with good readings from termlab... possiblly dbdrag style yet as accurate sounding as possible. requirements: 1. box is no bigger that 3.5 cubes - so that spare tire would be accessible 2. box design can only be a wedge 2 enclosure type box - to maximize all space and still get the spare tire 3. sub would be placed facing the cabin, possibly on the back seat position for a single sub, but towards the trunk for a dual sub or all towards the trunk. depends on your design. 4. ports can only be round ports 5. round ports are place on top of the rear dash extended to the box. - ports cant be place beside the sub for the purpose that atleast 2 people can still sit on the back, one on each side of the sub ("assuming sub is placed towards the cabin"). 6. power would be flexible for the amp is not yet bought. could be 1500-2000 watts in 1 ohm box would appear as if rear dash is the top of the box and the back seat be the front face or rear of the box. based on research from net, possibilities so far would be 1. Digital design 3512 - 1pc 2. Fi Q 12" - 1pc 3. AA Havoc 15" 1pc other subs you can recommend would trully be appreciated that could fit the desciption/design of the box. what do you guys have in mind? thank you so much.

    Need help with set-up ideas

it could be done... out doing your friend ok... streched the budget maybe to 3k just to be sure for the extras... wires/bats/etc... the box will be the key for the sub... then the right amount of electrical current to the amp...

No. 1 rule i have for myself in car audio is... "never do it for others", for if not it will simply be a waste of money... focus on what your main target is. self satisfaction! what ever you do, no matter how much you spend, there will always be someone louder...

    What size would be best?

awww. hehe. I think you'd be best served with a sealed box somewhere in the middle. hahahaha! thanks dude...
  6. Im currently looking at a Havoc 15" right now due to good overall responses for sealed enclosures yet still able to play loud as in loud based from personal reviews we have. Based from specs, we can start from 1.5-3.0 CF... Q1: What does CF stand for? Q2: How does the size affect the overall output and sound quality? Q3: Would going towards the smaller size 1.5 be better or towards the maximum of 3.0? Q4: Any experince playing with the box size that possibly was the best size for sealed enclosure? Thank you so much. looking for any inputs you may have.

    What size would be best?

thanks for the response, hmmm. if there is a trade in efficiency, respose to low octave, then i guess somewhere in the middle would be good but towards the bigger side... hmmm? i listen by the way mostly on rap/hip-hop/r&b but in some moods, rock/trance... and love songs when im with my girl.

Need your opinion on a new sub

if you want to maintain the box tuned at 40hz, check Digital designs sub enclosures, all are tune at 40's. but your friend has to save to get something good. if not, change the box according to the next sub your friends going to buy.

haha, thanks dude, you can actually consider my car black during the night... its a tri color paint job, its black during night, somewhat maroon during the day but with a focused light on it, it becomes red... hehehe! ive tried to compute it and max really is 3.5cubes... beyond that, i would;nt be able to pull the spare tire anymore but for 3.5 cubes or less it would still be perfect. just really need the right sub that was created for the box size of 3.5 or less.

because you have had experience and know so much about the Fi Q... Your not demin.... My build for the 15" BTL needed me to take out the tire and replace it with a support bridge I made out of left over MDF. But thats because that thing eats up so much space. You should have the clearance as long as you can shove your box all the way in the back of the trunk. I'm pretty sure you can fit yours. dude, your box is so BIG... though youve got a beautiful sub there... here's a pic of my ride... and heres my trunk with my old school but good sounding JL W6 15". its the v1 box is a 2.1cubes

    Havoc vrs Fi Q comparison

this is really a good review and really helps me in deciding w/c one to buy. Q: havocs tend to be better as said from previous post, but as i understand it, its on a sealed enclosure for both... if both was on a ported enclosure, would the havocs still tend to be better? or is it that the havocs tends to sound better and respond better in sealed enclosures but wether sealed or ported havocs hands down?l

so your vote is 1 Fi Q 15" for you?
  17. with respect to the thread starter, i have the same delema? wedge design slot port? anyone knows a prog that can slant the back side while the speaker and port in front on the vertical side? problem i see on the prog given is that whel a lon port would be used, and the angled side would be the one on the back, the sq inc space for the port increases since the slanted part has a greater length compared to the vertical side?

    Opinions on sub and amp

the audio system amp is a good amp, but when i heard it, its used for the front stage, it sounds clean and smooth but a bit towards the bright side. best bet is to use it with softdomes rather than metal/aluminun tweets if you want good sound. but for a loud and clear setup, metal/aluminum tweets would give the extra ounce of highs needed, but again may sound fatuiging when inside. could be change though, possibly with some EQ setting. for sub use, sorry but no experience yet. but you sure could try it... at the end its still your ears who will decide.
  23. +1, i dont believe in the no. of cone area to much for loudness with good sound... even the loudest sub wouldnt sound loud if its not placed on the right box. 2 12"s in the right box would outpound 2 15"s in a wrong crapy box. considerring they have thesame car and equiptment. just my 2 cents.
