  3. Hey guys what up? I have recently start having problems with my HU that I cant figure out. Ive had it now for about 2 years and I notice last that am getting this static, popping noise when I turn my sterring wheel or turn the sub level up. I also tapped on the HU to see if I would get any noise and I did. It seems as though anytime the HU get a bit of a jolt it starts with the noise, whether its me just tapping on it, turning the steering wheel, or turing up the bass level in the truck. Any suggestions? If am leaving anything out just let me know and ill fill it in. Thanks

    2.7" Coils

I have a JL 13W6v2 motor that Ive had laying around now for a while. Am looking to buy a 2.7" voice coil to rebuild it without spending a arm and a leg for it with JL. I can find other soft parts that would work but finding a coil is a bitch. Can anyone help me out here in any way? I dont wanna get rid of it, I think its a decent motor other than the gap size. Thanks

    2.7" Coils

Just because a good woofer has a custom recone, it doesn't mean it continues to be a good woofer with the new "custom" parts on it. Half of the time the people with those "custom" woofers don't even know the T/S parameters of the woofers they've created (or purchased). The performance of a subwoofer is a result of the sum of it's parts. A good motor without the original parts but instead a "custom recone" done will not necessarily have performance anywhere close to the original. You are assuming the performance will be identical between the two. This is not necessarily the case. Just because you tossed a recone into the motor of a w6v2 does not mean you will have performance equivalent to that of a w6v2 unless you used parts identical to the original. So no, you are not necessarily going to get the "same thing" for $100 instead of $250. You may have an operational subwoofer, but that doesn't mean it will be equal in performance to a w6v2 just because you used that motor. LOL....yeah, right. So, tell me, how about did you go about designing this new custom driver to improve results over the original? I've ranted about this before, but this ridiculous "recone boner" going around the forums leaves n00bs like yourself under the delusion that anyone can just mix-n-match parts onto a motor and come out with great results. It's not the case. Half of the people with these "custom subs" wouldn't know a good subwoofer design or performance from their arseho, yet they parade around the forums about how great their sub is because it's "custom". There is a reason subwoofer companies spend months to years designing and testing a subwoofer before bringing it to market. It's not because they are just randomly tossing parts together like so many of these "custom recones". LOL. All this name calling and putting custom build companies down really cracks me up. Lalala noob this lalala noob that, the woofer wont perform the same this, that and the next, whatever. Um, noob is this a new word for you or something, notice its been thrown around a lot lately. Anyway, everyone has their own opinion on everything and I guess you have yours, but I also have mines. So you do you and ill do the same. Thanks for the input though.

    2.7" Coils

I really doubt you know what's going to be better for the JL motor than JL does. After all, who spent millions on R&D? You or JL? Just saying, you're pretty much ruining resale value on it as well. It's an SQ subwoofer, good at sounding good. It's not some fart machine that you cobble together using bastard parts to hit 150+dB where it doesn't matter if it sounds good or not. I never said that I was trying to hit 150+dB. I just wanted to have it rebuilt for my own personal uses not to compete or anything of the sort.

REALLY!! How many "good" woofers out there are having a custom recone done. If you would like to spend $250+ to get something done that would cost less than $100 bucks elsewhere then be "your" guess. I would rather spend my money the way I want, with the product of my choice and get an even better results. So with that said, let me use what I have the way I want, IF I CAN FIND A COIL, LOL. Thanks for the input though.

  10. Anyone have any experience with is sub? I know that TC just start back up recently but was hoping to get some info on it. What size ported box would be optimum for this driver? Will it be able to handle an AQ2000 am or will that be over-kill? How does this driver compare to other drivers you have used. Is it more SQ or SPL geard? Is it durable in terms of extreme daily uses. How accurate is it? Am wanting to know anything about the sub that is out there right now. I tried accessing the site but got nothing. Thanks

    DC XL or IA DP

    SWEET!!!

    DC XL or IA DP

Either would be a 15'' ran off an AQ 2200. Am more focus on SPL but would like to sound desent. Setup will be going into a Dakota ext. cab. Enclosure will be a 4 cu.ft. tunes to 32Hz. I mosting listen to reggae with a little rap in the mix. I also was told about the Fi BTL but would like you guys opinions on the chosen few. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

    DC XL or IA DP

So tell me, for a daily system what type parameters should be in place. For example, the DP on a AQ2200. What size enclosure should be used? What size port, and what should the enclosure to tune to? Should it be more SQ or SPL?. I always thought that you should design your system around the type of music you listen to and what you perfered, but I might be wrong.

    2 15" IA Lethal Injections

Thats a real clean build dude. Where did you get the Valspar Spray at?. Tried to find some around my area but had no luck. Thanks.
  15. I cant get my hands on one. Back in college I used them all the time in my physics courses but now am in another state and dont have any access. Is there somewhere that I can possible go and get it set correctly?
  16. Am not sure on this so correct me please if am wrong. I currently have a AQ2200 and was wanting to make sure am setting my gains correctly. I want to get as much clean power out of this amp as I can to really push my 15" IA DP. I spoke to the guy at AQ and he said that this amp is around 86% efficient. So just to be on the safe side lets just say its 85%. So 0.85 X 2200 gives us 1870 watts. Am running the amp at 1 ohm so would setting my gain to around 43.0 volts sound right. Oh yea, all my electrical have been upgraded (220 HO alt. extra batt, 2 runs of 0 gauge for the big 3.) Does Anyone know if this amp can run at 0.5 ohms, if so what type of power does it produce. Any input would be great. Thanks guys
  17. Thanks for the input. I guess i had it wrong all along.

    DC XL or IA DP

Because I got with both Nick and Rusty and they both said that its the optimum size enclosure for each of their drivers. I have a 220 amp HO alt. the big 3 done in double runs of 0 gauge wire and an extra battery in the back. This should be suffient for a AQ2200 amp. Like I stated in my first post, i listen to mostly reggae music with just alittle rap mixed in. Amp not going to compete but I am looking for a SPL setup that will sound desent on music. Hoping this will help a little, Thanks

    Powering a Fi Q 12"

Ok yes, I we know that the Q is a SQ sub, but in every other post i see ppl saying if you want output go with such and such or go with the next. I have a 15" Q in a 4.0 cb.ft bin at 30 Hz and it gives ppl headachs when they sit in my ride no bullshit. The Q is a SQ sub, but their beastly in the right application. But am a SPL hog, and always wanting more.

    fi q 15'' vs kicker cvx 15''

You may also want to look into 2 12" Incriminator Audio Death Row. I have never heard the DRs but i heard that they get down. Just my opinion.

    Help choosing sub(s) and amp??

If your wanting low bass try a single Fi SSD 15" on a saz1000. You can go sealed or ported and it will still sound good and get loud. just my opinion.
