We made them out of 3/4 MDF and cut a hole thru the panel to vent them. I had to add 3/4 inch spacers as well to get the speakers to fit as well. I was scared about crossfiring down low like that, but it sounds pretty good like that actually.

Pioneer P9 combo would also work. The Behringer 2496 with a 12v mod will do what you need as well.
Audison Bit one is coming soon. I have a Denon DCT1000R and am waiting patiently

That is a sweet family photo. The germ's gotta be loving you now
the XXK siblings
got the 4150 hooked up, sending ~200 to the germs per side. they sound freakin awesome now. i crossed them around 65hz or so and they take it like a champ with no distortion even at high volumes.

alright i will try to get the pic of my door up by sunday. also where would i be able to find the eclipse 8454, and the alpines u were talking about? That Eclipse in the link I posted on page 3 is still available as far as I know. Great unit. I have the 8455, my son has the 8454, neither of us have ever had an issue with them.

Depends on the vehicle and tuning, but a Mag can whip on some drivers that are "technically" superior to it in SPL, but I'll leave the SPL comparison up to others on here. As far as SQ goes, Mag.+1 on SQ
The Mag can get loud as hell, but the pioneers have more cone area, so they may get close, but do yourself a favor....buy the Mag, you'll never look back.

It's what we live for.

Hell I don't even have an Ipod.+1

The 980 has the single knob and a 3-way X-over...but now your budget is going out the window. $600, for amps, speakers and deadening is going to be tight...don't get me wrong, there are deals to be had, you just have to be diligent.

DEH-P880PRS is where they start using three way x-overs. The 660 has a low pass for the subs and a high pass if you go passive, the 880 adds a bandpass for the mids and a high pass for the tweeters.

Check this for your head, will control everything from the deck. That leaves $750 for amps and speakers
do u know if that headunit is able to be hooked up to an ipod like the pioneers?
i really like how the pioneers look. also which pioneers are the best for active setups? preferably 1 din
The Eclipse has an AUX-in pair of RCA's, on my son's we just took a rca to mini adaptor and his IPOD plays just fine, but you still use the IPOD controls, none built into the deck. I will see what I can find ya Pioneer

Dammit, good catch......thanks Sean...fixed it.

Great set, great price, just leave the passives in the box and sell them off when (if) you ever upgrade.
Just a little more money but all the rage for SQ on a couple other boards...one word of caution, you can over power these, but they rock from the reviews.
Down to $550-$600

Cruise the for sale section at Elite Car Audio, DIYMA, and here.....always some good stuff available for good prices.

Where are you getting those numbers from?Sonic is funny and states the numbers at 14.4. The amp is truly rated at 90wx4 at a normal voltage.
So your saying the 175x4@4Ohms@14.4V only puts out 90x4@4@like12.5V? And even so doesn't your vehicle run at 14.4V?
What Sean (M5) is saying is the big numbers they post are peak outputs full tilt. Always look for the 12 volt rating....better to be a little under rated than waaay over rated. I know where there is a mint Eclipse 8454 for sale for $250, has built in two way x-over plus a sub out and time alignment. Perfect for cutting your teeth in the active realm. If you have your heart set on the Pioneer, you will need a outboard crossover to do the dirty work. The are a ton of drivers out there that can be matched with the power you have on tap and give you a great sounding system. Sundown amps (on here) makes some great amps, for some great prices, Zed is another, and these truly come in under rated, not by a lot, but because they test them in real world conditions. If you have a hefty alt and the current available for them, they will outdo what they are rated for. You want some head room so when that big cymbal crash or kick-drum beat hits, it maintains it authority and clarity. Driving your amps into clipping even for a peak can be catostrphic (experience speaking there my friend). Let us know what your budget is, what you are trying to achieve (big SPL, total SQ, etc) and there are a lot of people on here that will steer you in the right direction.

Perfect for the standard cab owner, where were these 5 years ago? Nice design Jake, like it alot.

Anyone? Would this be a good amp, or should I just go with the Hifonics 1600?What VC configuration will you be using? Looks like this one is stable down to 2 ohms so as long as you are getting dual fours or a single two ohm voice coil, it will be fine...at least very comparable to the Hifonics.

Power seat on the driver side, regular slider on the passenger side. There is not much clearance, but the Orion has never overheated. (Sean is right, been really going crazy lately....my week next week: Monday drive from Denver to Lander WY, Tue drive from Lander WY to Billings MT, Wed from Billings to Great Falls, Thurs from Great Falls to Sidney (35 miles from Canada), Fri long ass drive home) I try and get in here every chance I get, but been more of a Part Time lurker for the last few months.

i'm getting my car in a coulpe a months and i'm getting 2 rlp12" and will a Lanzar Max Pro 2400 watts amp be good or should i get a better amp and will the speakers handle a lanzar max pro 4000 watt amp need helpI ran a RLp off 1200 watts and would NOT recommend going any higher than that without paying close attention to the gains as I could have easily blown it feeding it that much. But as long as power was clean, the RLp just kept taking it. For an amp...checkout Sundowns forum on here, Jake is a great guy to deal with and has some amps that would fit the bill to a tee. Anything from 600 - 800 watts a driver is more than sufficient with these guys and there are a lot of amps out there that can do that kind of power cleanly. We'll be glad to get you steered in the right direction.

I just finished up the T-Box and installed it in the 4Runner. The output is at least the same as the last "t-line" attempt although the curve is flat all the way down. Denim, you need to come hear this one.P.S. I'll try to get some pics uploaded tomorrow, I'm exhausted from being at the hospital all day.
P.P.S. The SAE-1500D prototype is arriving on Monday. I can't wait to hear that amp pushing the RL-i8 in this box!
Nice, very,very, nice.

For the true Sundown fan…….2007 Prototypes
in For Sale/Wanted
Posted
I purchased a pair of prototypes from Jake waaay back 2007…….a SAZ1500 except case is marked SAZ1200 The design was originally intended to produce 1200 watts however, once the final design was built, they consistently produced of 1500 watts……hence the name change for the production models. Case is glossy and 8/10 condition. I also have a matching prototype SAX100.2 in a matching glossy case and again 8/10. PM for pics, can’t figure out how to empty my attachment library. Asking $650 for the pair. Your chance to own a piece of history, and definitely very unique.
