Dee Plan Dee Plan! Better get this figured out by the time I am back in tampa. I still may be having nothing better to do.
  4. I've got two 10" assasins that were in a Wicked One. Needless to day, the wicked one gave great sound (SPL and SQ) but it is simply too big. I am looking for some ideas for a relatively small box. I have two ideas, simple ported or isobaric ported. The majority of the music will be heavy metal and country with the occasional rap song as well. It is going in a 2001 Grand Prix with Alpine Type S Co-Axils (40w per side) and stock rear speakers. The avalable space is: 13" Tall (wiggle room) 36" Wide 15" Deep They have a Hifonics ZX440 for power. This isnt going to compete and it doesnt need to impress, merely give the output in the range stated. This will be built by newyears. Hope everyone had a merry christmas and a long time no see.

    US Amps MD.3D on ikesound?

Ike sound is a terrible dealer. They have the worst customer service of every dealer I've bought from. Essentailly, they screwed me out of $140. I have to head to work but I will fill in the details later.

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_...&cardist=89 The girl likes this car. It's no ///M series but it'll do for her. Her uncle is fronting her a lot of cash towards a new car for a graduation present. She needs/wants something with high gas mileage that is comfortable, reliable, and relatively cheap to fix when/if needed. Her uncle wants something that is decently quick (compared to her 4cyl '89 Camry) and that is rear wheel drive though he is open to quick FWD cars. I want something with decent miles. This is getting on the high side for me but what can I say, we've been on the hunt for 2 months and this is one of the few that is meeting all criteria. The carfax checks out with only one owner before the dealer it is at now. It is a 5 speed and she doesn

How about the gearbox? Has anyone driven a lower end BMW with a 5 speed gearbox? When shifting in my truck the movement is long and you have to hit right or it will grind/hesitate. She doesnt like driving my truck. The clutch is also kinda heavy and doesnt have smooth engagement IMO.

    DB Drag World Finals Annoucement

Wayne also wants to have rings instead of trophies. If it goes through I think you will see some funny jokes at finals.

    DB Drag World Finals Annoucement

Europeans hold records not only because their judges are laxed (that could be argued) but they hold a 3x right after world finals every year before the season officially ends. World records are set at 3x's and vualla. FloridaSPL guys had an idea to turn it on them but I dont know if the plan has been put into motion. I will be in Orlando, competeing or not. These ideas wayne comes up with...well look at the new competition typhoon or w/e.

    End of 0.5 ohm coverage

I've burped a single sundown at 0.5ohm with a yellow top with no problems (engine off). I did it over and over. One of my teammates is running two strapped. I dont recall what load. He was doing fine on a yellow top in street A and now has a 2400 IIRC. The amps can handle it, Jacob is just doing a little CYA. Get a someone on the fourms who doesnt know how to properly set their gains and has a 'stock' battery running the amp at 0.5ohm engine off and you have a recepie for disaster with almost any amp. Even at 1ohm that is pushing it. Question: Since the amps where originally warrantied for two SI Mags in parallel are they still covered at 0.5ohm on SI Mags only?

    I Love Miter Joints

I tried my hand at making an enclosure with miter joints instead of butt end joints like normal. This is going to make finishing the box 100% easier and take half as much filler (just having to fill the screws). I had always been turned off by the thought of miter joints because every one says they are so "complicated" and the thought that iff i mess up that pice is gone for good. Well now i realize that if you think about what is going on and tripple check its easier than designing a box with butt end joints, best part is if you fudge up a lil it isnt gonna be a big thing to corrct it. Case and point: My first set of 45's where slightly steeper than 45...i realized this, made some adjustments on the saw to correct that and all i end up with is a little skinny lip that on the corner. two brushes with the palm sander and its gone. The corners where going to be rounded anyway. It also gives the glue mroe surface area to bond to. I love them now and if this enclsoure turns out A++ with half as much work as regualr joints i will never go back.

    The Towncar (with updates)

The car is finally here. Here is just a bum load of pics, mostly old, and 4 new. More to come once I do more. So far all I've done is solder the CD player harnes, run wires, and figure out how I'm going to mount the speakers. And now for some new Pimp Mobile Needs sound deadening. The skin is pretty solid but the inside is like swiss cheese Crutchfeild thinks I'm mounting an old tape player I geuss. To walmart I go for a Sosche kit. Damn do I hate sosche kits. The halfarsed painted box. 1st coat and I ran out of paint. This stuff doesnt go on very thick. It looks nice in person though. As you can see the box was built that wide so that there would be space on the side, where I'm mounting the amps tucked in. They will have good breathing room. The speakers will be mounted in the stock location with MDF backing and a lot of deadening around them. I'm also sealing the doors and the money that he gave me for pod materials is going into more sound deadening and a pair of Second Skin IB deflex pads. The tweeters are going to be mounted as far forward as possible on the dash in the corners. It's where I have mine and the two dashes are shapped similar. He likes the sound of mine so I'm just going with it. More work to be done after class and work.

    The Towncar (with updates)

But alas, this has just shown your immaturity as well. Getting paid? That's $200 and change before I had to buy all of the little things to do the install right. Let's say that I did the door speakers right, did the head unit right, and ran the wires correct. How much do you think it would cost to have that done at the average shop? A WHOLE lot more than $200. Consider the amps and enclosure freebees at that rate. Taking time? Well unlike an installer at a professional shop I have another job that comes first, college classes that come before that, and AP highschool classes that come before that. Incase you do not know this time of the year is when you really have to buckle down and study, which is where the majority of my time is put. Besides, this kid doesnt get his license for another two months, he knew this would be a side project in all of the other things. Besides, who are you all to care? The install. What is funny is the only thing that is remotely ''unprofessional'' is the enclosure. Which I might add is plenty loud. What do you have to say about it? You dont like the baffle and the paint looks blotchy from 700 miles away. You make comments about wires from a picture that was only intended to show the speakers in the box. even after I said I still need to hide the wires. Take advice? Have you ever thought that you dont have to do everything someone sayout your project? especially on the internet. Way to go you if you do. Personally I like to find things out on my own. I'll listen to suggestions and take them into consideration, perhaps if things where presented that way instead of "you do this" I would have considered them a whole lot more. Taking your own route with suggestions and help from others is how things should be done. Doing excactly as others do or doing what others tell you to do is how you end up with cookie cutter installs. I understand you where questioning the integrity of the enclosure but before I was going to drop everything and build another one I was going to see if this enclosure would perform as desired. It did. The owner is going to have a listen today. By the way, it hit a 142.5 before rear deck modification. If he wants more I will discuss with him other enclosure options. What else have I though of? Kent's suggestion of up firing. Take a brake? OK, fine. I will take a brake indeffanitely.

    New Mag Enclosure

The only problem I have with it is the port will be unloading about 4 1/2" away from the side of the truck. This is a 7 1/2" port mind you. I'd like to get some opinions on wether or not I should go through with it or move back to an upfiring port and move the mags on the baffle to as far on the passenger as I can get them and make the box completely rectangular.
