thanks buddy. so you would probably suggest a sealed box built in the middle of Fi's specs? as i stated, i wouldnt build anything larger than the recomended size, i was just thinking the largest sealed box Fi recomends, but if you guys think this adds to the chances of it blowing out then fux it. also, back to my main question as to if you have any recomendations for another sub i should research? what do you guys think of Diamond Audio and RE subs? if anyone has another amp i should check out for about the same price/warranty, let me know!

yeah but i think i want to experiment with a sealed box this time, i really want to maximize the quality of my sound. with my door speakers, it would be alot more work that i dont really know how to do: i have, if i remember right, focal 165a(# could be wrong) 6.5's in the rear doors, and up front either 5x7 or 4x6's, i dont remember, but those are infinities. with my doors the midbass sounds chitty, i have the bass at 0 if not in the negatives because if any bass arrises from the back doors it sounds like complete sh1t. i want to build the box myself, and i think a sealed box is the easiest for a noob box builder anyways. back to my question of the sub, do you have any reccomendations for a sealed sub louder than the Q, but more SQ than my L7, and still around 300-350 NEW? any input on what i should research next is appreciated. also, you guys talk big about sound audio (could be wrong name, blanking out) amplifiers. im going for quality this time, but i cant break the bank, if you have a better suggestion than the kicker zx1000.1- about 450 with a 2 yr kicker warranty +3 yr extended, please, post here.

    BTL or BL

if $$ is no issue, i would buy the btl and save up for an amp that can serve it justice. otherwise, a free amp is a free amp, and a bl is, from what i have gathered, better than most. or if money is really an issue and you are concerned, buy a sub that is the right RMS for that amp.

i mean people are posting it doesnt hit the higher notes, like music that isnt rap if you can imagine that. i mean my L7 missed notes, i just thought it was a normal thing for ported boxes. i dont want my sub to miss ANY notes, high or low. im still thinkning Q, but am a little scared that i will be sad it isnt as loud as my L7... if i asked you to recomend a sub that is almost as loud/as loud/louder but also sounds alot better than the L7? maybe not as good as SQ as the Q...if such a thing even exists. Thanks guys, this is all much appreciated.

I've heard quite a few people say the Q doesnt hit the High notes very well, any testimonials? just when I thought i was almost sure about the Q...

i kinda assumed that the larger the sealed box, the louder, and then i assumed that any Q in a sealed box will sound better than a ported L7. would you recomend the smaller size sealed encloser for this sub? what are your own personal recomendations? thanks. *when i say largest sealed box possible, im still talking what Fi reccomends*

the L7 was an 06 I think, black cone, looked better IMO. Its possible it was just the L7, and a chitty box, but the car installer explained it to me that my amp fried my sub. after i heard that i said fudge hi fonics. what im lookin at: 15 Q dual 1 ohm+ kicker zx1000.1 + largest sealed box possible. Ive never built a box before, Im thinking of trying on this setup.

i honestly listen to everything. it sounds good in all types of music is what is most important to me, but with a nice loud output as well., hopefully it will still set off car alarms.

i didnt build the box, so making a new one would be a project, but more importantly my amp (1100 watt hifonics i think) and L7 blew out. the kicker is the new amp im probably purchasing. specific songs i dont remember what it didnt hit, but definetly didn't get the job done. the sub sounded farty at times. all in all, i will never buy a hi fonics product again.

it was a ported 3.5 ft box tuned to 32 htz. it missed the high notes. it also sounded farty on some songs, the sq didnt tickle my eardrums, just the bass. so thats the 1 ohm sub, but i dont need any of the upgrades you think? thanks.

    Moving on

Hello, I am a daily driver moving on from my Kicker 15 L7 in a ported 3.5 ft box in my 94 s10 blazer powered by a 1000 watt hi fonics amp and wanting something that gets loud yet sound alot better than the L7. I've been thinking of a sealed 15 Q with a kicker zx 1000.1. sealed because i dont only listen to rap, but it really annoyed me when my ported box missed notes that my friends subs hit. i wanted to spend in the $300-350 tops for my sub(s). Which Fi would you reccomend? Thanks guys, I appreciate it. Tim
