    1000 dB!

I;ve read thats the case for speakers ,at 194db the speaker would begin moving in its own created vacuum ,so at that point wont be able to reproduce sound . Nature has phenomenons man can never immitate with technology though

    Car Audio Competition

ask a local audioshop to pay for the rent of a termlab (of maybe the've got one) and some medals of some sort , in return they can advertise on the event . make sure you've got the permits you need from the authorities. oh, food and drinks , and make it cheap!!!!!!!

box size... bigger means deeper? :S

a smaller box usually means : groupdelay goes down (a good thing) efficiency go's down powerhandling go's up (till the point that the box get so small the sub cant get rid of its heat sufficiantly) less extension in the lows You'll need a longer port to get a tighter bass and hitting the highter notes well , you'll get that by tuning the box higher ,needless to say it will not play as deep as it would tuned lower , but it wil be louder. getting it right the first time is really hard , make up your mind and start building , if you dont like the way it sounds post that and we'll come up with a sollution to your problems , and start building again .

I'd like too show some enclosure builds of mine

Thanks for the comments guys , @bigpete , I tryed a black stain but it didnt work out the way I wanted . I liked it better too before paint , the box wasnt for me @nmssd12 , I use srews sometimes too , there are pro's and cons , MDF isnt very strong its just a question of where you apply force to it , keep that in mind and srews can work fine, in the end the glue is the stuff that keeps it all together

help me choose what car to wall!

before I read the rest of the topic , I voted the 75 lincoln . Because : thicker metal walls , more easy to reinforce roof with poly (and some sort of poly famework) But if you've got gometing with serious space to spare like the RAM I'd definatly say go for it !

I'd like too show some enclosure builds of mine

the kicker-enclosure is a 60 litre(2,1 cuFt) 35cm port cabinet (tuned for a big Hatchback) I typically dont work on HT systems , can do it as long the system is activly EQ't , So I normally build car-enclosures as is this (the port-tuning is not particulary suited for HT , works well non the less) and Yes I also sell and build on contract , most of my builds are for friends though , I aim to have as much fun a possible building enclosures ,because that for me is the hobby . I'm from the Netherlands ,Europe ,so it will probably be of no use for US members to ask me for a build . build 2 : 150 litres (5.3 cuFt) tuned @ 33Hz getting started : bracings: fitting ports: terminal cutout: gluing together: sanding(includig me in the picture): paint: endresult:

New Car, New sub needed, but wich?

In my opinion size of the woofer does not dominate the "speed" of the woofer ,the suspension the air inside the box provides does , smaller box in combination with a (little) highter tuning of the port should solve your problem . I'd stick with the BTL ! I've had very good results with a backloaded horns too (again small back chamber)

I'd like too show some enclosure builds of mine

this played in an audi A3 with the backseats taken out for about a year , I had build it for an audio dealer back then who is a good friend of mine , when he bought a different car , the sub was supposed to be in his livingroom temorarely but never made it back in his car , so it has been wrecking porcelain since . I've got a few more ,and I'll begin with a build for an Ascendant-Audio Mayhem 15d2 in a couple of weeks , which will get to endure 5000+Wrms , but I'm still undecided in box style , QWtl or bassreflex ,termlab measuring has also yet to decide which way to point woofer and portmouth (any suggestions? ,its going to be in an Mazda MX3)

  17. Hi , Well I'm from The Netherlands , Car-Audio is a hobby of mine for over 10 years now , specifically the low end gets al lot of attention and I've made MANY sub enclosures . I drive a Peugeot 306 GTI-6 , a 10 year old hot hatch which crancks out about 200 Bhp out of its little 2-liter engine and revs up to 7200 RPM , no audio is running in it at the moment because I've been too busy building for others . here's a little pic of the car : maybe a few pics of stuff I made for friends Tempest-X on a Brax 2000x: Shiva-X on a Xetec P2 evo : 2 boschmann 15" Nuke's on a Beyma 3600 RL: the old soloX : I obviously made a lot more ...cant post em all

Hey everyone! I got a question

Hi , got a multimeter ? measure one of the coils on resistance , measure the resistance of the cables on the multimeter first by putting the red and black pin together and subtract that resistance from what you measure on one of the coils , that should give you an answer on how to wire your sub .

Hi All ,more euro-trash on your forum

Thanks for the possitive reactions guys ! I'd be happy to show one of these build logs ,butt you'll have to choose which , the Exodus subs are in pretty straight forward enclosures .I know the shiva is not meant for ported enclosures but I think simulated it gave a nice LOUD SOUND QUALITY curve for car-use . and I've only had a short try out but it sounded very tight and loud , I liked it a lot !(played the "far beyond driven" Pantera album) the Tempest got an 90 liter closed enclosure and did 141 db@55hz on a termlab , and thats not bad at all on 780 watts the cabinet for the boschmanns (I know its a crap brand) has not one screw in it exept to mount the woofers and has trapeze connected sides . a real streetpouder , the lower it plays the harder it gets to breathe . the SoloX cabinet has no screws in it as well , 7 triplex boards glued on top of each other under stress gives it an amazing rigidity , and the one-piece double flared port is under tension between the top plate and horizontal bracing . choose ....
