    Death Penalty Question

The box will be the deciding factor. Steve Cook does very well in the meca sound quality league with 2 death penalty 18s in his avalanche. Just my two cents.

    DC Sound Lab Jeep

That looks to be a 4th order bandpass that is accidentally tuned crazy low. Great vids!
  5. I was wondering will the memphis mojo 4kw run at a 1/2 ohm on burps with proper voltage. I do know that the 08 version will run at 1/2 ohm but they changed a few things on the new mojo.

    Tuning Frequency For Outlaw SPL

My advise is to find someone with a meter if u dont have one and test, test, test. Get a bunch of mdf and go crazy. You would be suprised what werid designs could work for you. What kind of vehicle are you trying to compete in?

    bandpass enclosures

That was what I thought too initialy but the second box i tried was about 6 cubic feet and had three 6 inch areo ports and only did a 138 dbs in the floor using the term lab meter. The next box was about 5 cubes and had two 6 inch areo ports in it and I got a 143.6 dbs. The box i have now is only about 3 cubes and only has two 4 inch areos and has me in the mid 147 db range on the same meter. What Ive been told is that if you have alot of port and airspace, you better have some powah. Honestly I dont have much of that at this moment. For me its been the smaller the box the better the spl.

    bandpass enclosures

Does anyone know anything about designing a bandpass box. I have a pair of 12 w6s in a ported box w 2 6 inch areo ports tuned to 44 hz and a jl 1000/1. I can do 143.4 db at a 48-50 hz tone. Im trying to get in the uper 140s without reaching the 2500-4000 watt amplifier range. Any help on design principals or general advise on how to get louder would be greatly appreciated.

    bandpass enclosures

I tried a different enclosure with woofers firing out and port firing back and with my seat unbolted and out of the vehicle I managed to do 147.2 @ 68hz and 146.2 @ 68hz with seat down and in vehicle. I gained about 3 db by changing enclosures and raising 24hz in tone. All measuments done on term lab. Im extremely happy with the score but always tring to improve with my current equipment. What should be my next move to gain a few more decibles and still stay within usaci rules. Any sugestions on box tuning or equipment would be greatly appreciated.

    bandpass enclosures

Im on my third box with the subs up port back. When I get my enclosure near perfect then I will resin the inside. Im thinking about sealing the trunk from the cabin and running the subs foward but Im afraid that not having a loading area might hurt spl.

    bandpass enclosures

Do you guys have any sugestions on woofers or amps? I am going to compete in usaci trunk 0-1000 the rest of this season and I plan to compete next season in 0-1000 using a memphis 4kw if my cash is right.

    bandpass enclosures

The reason I want to put them in a fart box is because the 12 w6s is what i have right at the moment. My plans are to run L7s or CVXs. My objective is to get as loud as possible using what I have at the moment.
  15. If you do decide to run the bass eq on then I recomend running q at 1.1 and center frequency anywhere between 40 and 50 hertz. Alot of fun to play with on the 1000/1v2.
  16. Dont feel bad about blowing t1s with that amp. Its a bit more than a thousand watts rms hence the 1000 dollar price tag. Keep in mind that if your bass boost is off the q setting is irelevant.

    qiuck DP 21 box question

Sorry i was thinking 1 woofer. Is the box going to be a wall? If not what vechicle are you going to fit 17 cubes of enclosure in?

    qiuck DP 21 box question

Unless you have atleast 4000 watts you box is way to big and you have too much port.

    16 ohm sub

    1.5-4 ohms and 11.5-14.5 volts
  20. I wouldnt say that buying a 9886 vs a 9887 would be pointless. The only difference is the 9887 comes with the imprint processer and a more eleborate audio control selection. If youre looking for a premere sound quality unit please do youself a favor and look into the eclipse higher end head units. The 7200 comes with a 24 bit dac, 8 volt preout , no internal amp, and a wide array of sound functions. The only thing not to like is the ugly ass knob that eclipse wont get off.

    basic headunit

sony gt 330 or jvc r300 are two great head units for under 140 bucks brand new. both have mp3/wma format and front aux
  22. ive had some of my friends buy that exact model and for one it literaly takes over 45 seconds just to load a cd. no joke. Its wall mart man. go to a specalty shop or get a decent head unit off the net.
  23. the lowest ohm load that amp is capable of running at is 1.5 ohms, or else the low ohm indicator light will come on and there will be no bass. 4 ohms is a much better load anyway because the damping factor increases dramaticly.

    JVC KD-R900

im also a jvc dealer and in all honesty its not the greatest sounding radio but the best radio ive seen for $260 or under for all the features.

Stock HU, worth a speaker upgrade?

Look into audiocontrol products. They have step downs/L.O.C. that are a lot more advanced than just your run of the mill l.o.c.s. Im talkin in dash eqs with step downs and line drivers. Great if youre tring to keep a factory hu. I will admit that they generaly run about 100 bucks or more.
