    favorite brand names

I am only going to list my favorite brands of what i've used. Getting ready to try some new stuff here soon, so i should be adding to this list Alpine: love their head units Atomic: Loud tough as nails subwoofers U.S. Amps: expensive, but nice Bostwick: had great subs and amps, but now nonexistent Cerwin Vega: Loved their older subs, especially the first strokers!!

    SPL brand subwoofers?

I actually had one of this brands top of the line 15's last year. Held up pretty good to the power i threw at it, but didnt have a good full range bass sound. It would only hit deep bass(20 to maybe 50 hertz). And i was using two Bostwick 1200 watt amps on it!

    15" BTL power handling

Just how much power will the standard btl 15 handle? If i am going to put 4000 watts to it, do i need to add all the cooling option, excursion option, etc.?

LVL 4 xl capable of 4000 watts?

What amp/amps are you running? right now i am running 1 amp by SPL. The biggest they have its called 5500D. Puts out right around 2000 watts rms at 1 ohm. When i redo my system, i will be running 2 of these amps, I already have the second one.

LVL 4 xl capable of 4000 watts?

I am looking at getting a new woofer for my car. I will be running 4000 watts when i redo my system and was wondering if the LVL 4 XL will hold up to this amount of power or will i definitely have to look at the LVL 5? It will be used mainly for daily use with occasional spl use.

    Subwooder decision

I will be running 4000 watts when my other amp comes in and i have narrowed my subwoofer down to 3 choices. If youve had experience with these subs, please give opinions on which one would be good for me. It will be played daily with occasional spl competition use. The choices are FI fully loaded BTL 15, Atomic Extinction Level Event 15, or DC Sound Lab LVL 4XL 15.

Why do you all love 10" subs ?

I have heard some setups with 10" subs that sounded pretty good, but i have never had sub smaller than 12" Just my preference tho, i like 15s and 18s best.

    Btl 18 fully loaded amp?

Hey deevstroyer, i have a SPL 5500D in my car. I would not call these amplifiers junk by any means. Now keep in mind that they are way overrated. Like my amp says it will do 3200 watts rms @ 1 ohm, but i have found it to be more like 2000 watts rms. But when you look at i only paid just over 300 dollars for it, its a great deal. 300 dollars for 2000 watts rms is hard to find anywhere else, and these amps sound clean, push hard, and i run mine at .7 ohms and it never gets that hot or cuts off. You could get two of these amps to run on your dual 1 ohm sub and i promise you wont be disappointed.

    15" BTL power handling

ok, thanks for the reply. I am running 2000 watts now on 1 15" atomic, daily music. Thinking about upgrading and adding another 2000 watt amplifier to start competing again, and need a 15" sub that will hold up to competing and some every day use at 4000 watts. So if it will be played more than just at competions, you r saying i need the cooling option and longer coil right?
