  1. I dont have much experience with this so how would the sound differ if I went with the minimum 4cu per sub, the middle 6cu per sub, and the max 8cu per sub? Again im looking for a daily driver for rap and rock, I dont want it just to be loud and sound like ass lol, id like it to sound good

  2. The head unit I bought says its only 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gen compatible, does this my 4th gen wont work or its just the manufacturer has not added he 4th gen to there list? I dont see why it wouldnt work, its the pioneer 4300 dvd navigation unit, please let me know what you think and if I have to return it and get a 3rd gen version, thank you

  3. Get as large as you can to be more efficient, IMO. Shouldn't get too much hassle for running sealed, to each their own :drink40:

    X2 on the build log!

well i have the space to go the full 8 cu ft per sub that fi recommends, but whats the perfect balance for these subs? like i said mostly listening to rap and rock..no burps or competitions, just a daily driver..

  4. 3rd row seat is gone..lol so i have lots of space now, ive actually heard some good ported set ups, one of which was 3 audio que hdc3's i believe they are with around 2000 watts going to each and it made me cream my pants..lol but ive always loved that sound you only get from sealed set ups..

  5. i know first thing everyone will say is why sealed, ive just been a sealed type of guy all my life, nothing against ported..but its not my taste..so i know on fi's site for 18's they suggest 4-8cu ft per sub..im having a shop make my box for me so its not like i can experiment with different sizes..so for a sealed application and for a mix of rap and rock what do you guys suggest in a box size for each 18? space isnt a issue its going in the back of a denali

  6. you guys bring up a good point about the bass making cd's skip, you think i will run into that with my set up that im putting in my truck in a few weeks? 3 fi Q 18's with 800 watts to each in sealed enclosure? i actually do want to go the ipod route so i wont deal with cd's all over the place, not to mention the embarrassment of music skipping in public..

  7. i was wondering how many of you guys use ipods over cd's and cd changers in your cars? do you get the same quality out of the ipods that you would from cd's? this may sound stupid and i know it doesnt make sense so please correct me here, but im under the impression that music will play louder and better from cd's over using a ipod...again i know it sounds stupid..but id like to hear some opinions from the ipod users here

  8. hey guys, i ordered 3 Q 18'' subs which i intened to use in a ported application but for some reason not sure how the high QTS option was selected..and in the options it says this is for only sealed applications..so i sent a email thinking i would be ok since it says there is a 30 day wait time but i just got a email saying my subs have shipped so im not sure if they got my email in time and made the change or not, so my question is how bad will it sound if i still throw them in a ported box even though they say the option is only for sealed applications?

  9. im picking up a 12'' bl and i read the best tuning for is 32hz, can i get some box designs to hand to the audio shop thats building the box? this is my first time going with ported and i know nothing about vent area and how many sq inches of port..so i could really use some help..90% of the music will be rap but id like it to be musical not just a fart canon or muddy, it will be a daily driver

  10. hey guys im going 3 cu ft for 2 level 3 12's what kind of tuning do you guys use for these for rap? keep in mind just cause its rap i dont want it to sound like muddy ass..lol id like it to be musical..each sub will be getting 500 watts..this will be my first time with ported and i dont know shit about port area, volume all that stuff..and im having the shop build the box for me and install it, so if you guys can give me some numbers i can write them down and hand them to the shop..by the way reason im going with 3 cu ft is cause on there website it says 1.5 per 12'' unless you guys know something that works better

  11. lol..this makes me laugh when i have read people sending these things over 1000 and people say oh they will purr nicely..but i want to send them rated people tell me they will blow only cause i have enough power on tap for a bl..but you guys dont understand i dont want a bl..i want a sealed setup

  12. after reading tons of reviews and watching a ton of vids on you tube my 8 month journey has brought me to fi tomorrow im ordering 2 15'' q's..i will be sending around 2000-2500 watts in total..now i need some help please guys..id like some suggestions on what size box to go for both sealed and ported..because im not building my own box im having a shop do it for me so i cant just try a few boxes i dont have the funds to do that..90% of the music will be rap and the other 10% will be a mix of all other kinds of music..going 15's i obviously want it loud but id like it to be musical..have sq to them..im not just looking to sound like a fart canon or anything..i hope this info helps with the box decisions and dimensions thank you
