    NEM's Evilinator!!

If you are short on space, you could always recone them to 15's and go ported. Nice progress so far.

New "SQL" system for a metalhead - Right direction?

The iXA-w404 only has a 4" screen. He would want the 7"screen iXA-w407 which is what I have in my Lincoln, along with the PXA-h100. It's a great combo for a 2 way active front stage plus sub. But it doesn't have a CD/DVD drive in it. So unless he's willing to put his movies on an iPod and play them on the deck. He would want the iva-w505. Which is also compatible with the h100, has a 7" touchscreen and a built in DVD player. But it's quite a bit more money. If you go alpine and need an h100, pm me as I have second one I'm going to sell soon. I also have an extra ktx-h100 tuning setup. Here is the 407 installed in my Lincoln.

A Suburban A Warhorse and a Pair of SMDeez

Very nice attention to detail. This is going to be a sweet box when it's finished.

making a sub encloser for my computer.

If I ever stop being lazy and build it, I'll have an Avalanche 18" in 21 cu ft tuned to 15hz. If only you could fit that under your desk.

looking for 8" free air suggestions

That manifold idea looks interesting. Especially in a GTO, because the gas tank is above the rear suspension. That blocks a lot of transfer into the cabin, where IB wouldn't have that problem. 1 12" IB still doesn't seem like much.

My third sa8 motor is paid for and should shop out tomorrow. And I bought bigjon's old 240 amp alternator. I'm excited to get my trunk back. I'm working on the design for my false floor. I think I'll put it in a separate thread, but I'll post a link here.

Thoughts on Image Dynamics (ID-max) Subs???

Since money isn't a big issue. I'd go with the sundown Z. They work well in small boxes, which saves you trunk space. They sound good, and they will take a lot of power and get very loud. So if you upgrade your amp and electrical later, you won't need to replace the sub. You can measure the port area very easily. It's just the width times the height. If you have enough port area, you could run the Z in your current box.

Thoughts on Image Dynamics (ID-max) Subs???

How much port area does that box have?

I spent some time messing with the time alignment and other settings today. When all of a sudden everything got really loud, but the volume was still at 3/4. Which is where I had it set. Also all my settings were erased. So I started over, turned down the gains, and started redoing everything. Hopefully it isn't do that again.

Thoughts on Image Dynamics (ID-max) Subs???

Do you have all the specs for your box? Have you thought about picking whatever sub that is on your list, that will perform the best in your current box? If you have enough port area, that would be a good way to save money and maybe be able to put that towards a more expensive sub.

I sat in the car for an hour when I got home this morning, playing with crossover settings and individual speaker levels. It keeps sounding better and better.

So far I'm very happy with them. And I haven't messed with phase, time alignment, eq or anything besides basic crossover settings. Hopefully I'll have some time to tinker with that and tweeter aiming soon. They play lower and with more authority than anything I've owned before, but that's not a very extensive list.

I paid for my third sa8 motor today. Now if I could get a response from sundown, I could order my recones. I've emailed him three times in two weeks and haven't gotten one response.

    * Trevor's 2010 Audi A4 Trunk Build. Sundown. Fi. *

This is coming along, if you hadn't found someone to make the adaptors. I was thinking you could use a threaded standoff, a ring terminal and a bolt. Put the threaded standoff in the 4 gauge hole, then put the bolt through the ring terminal and thread the bolt into the standoff.

So while I had the carpet up to run wires, I noticed the passenger side front and rear floorboards are soaked. Now I have something else to fix.

You should've seen the 2" of hail we got this afternoon, and thunder, lightning, rain, sun, , and even a rainbow. Lol It's all up and running! I'll get pics tomorrow. My stinger volt meter is installed in one of the many ashtrays. It's so nice to finally get to enjoy the front stage. I've never had my subs blend so well with my front stage. And the midbass is pretty impressive. Now for lots of tuning.

03 Lincoln Town Car Daily Driver Build

I pulled out all the seats today, ran wire for the mids and highs down the driver's side, wire for my volt meter down the middle, and RCA's down the passenger side. I'm taking a rain break, which hopefully won't be too long. I just need to run a remote wire and I can start putting the interior back together.

Well it stopped raining for a while, so I went out with my flashlight and finished hooking the second battery, power wires, ground wires, and fuses for both amps up. I started the car and I have 13.84v at the starting battery, and 13.76v at the amps in the trunk. I'm slowly getting closer to having a fully functional install.
  21. Well, it looks like you've run out of excuses. Lol. You're on your way to quite a build, I'm looking forward to some more progress.

03 Lincoln Town Car Daily Driver Build

I had 20 feet of 1/0 wire and two sa8 motors show up. Here are the 8's. I got most of the power and ground wiring done for the second battery and 4 channel today. Tomorrow I'm hoping to have the second battery, 4 channel amp, RCA's for the mids and highs ran, highs temp installed, and mids and highs wired up to the amp(maybe even up and running).

Well, someone needs to be the test mule, it might as well be me. I'm curious how it'll compare with my 2 sa10's down in the trunk well. I'm probably 2 months away from having the 8's installed. I have 2 sa8 motors and some 0/1 wire showing up from my friend Steve Mead tomorrow. Then I can put in the second battery, do the big three and wire up my four channel. I'm stoked to hear the front stage. I finished up the passenger door today.

I'm almost done with the passenger side door. Same as the driver side. Here's some pics. I'm working on the mlv and ccf now.
