  1. my nine.1 just isnt doing it for me anymore. i want to put 1kw on each of my rl-p's daily. they'll handle it right, in the sealed box i have?

im not sure what type of amp to get though. new or used i dont care. want to spent 350-600 but 6 is pushing it. basically if you buy an amp that does 2kw rms, you're only going to get like 1800w daily for music with peaks and chit right? so that you aren't peaking into clipping?

its going to be next to a diamond d5 600.2, so it would be nice to have it look clean too :lol2:

any suggestions? these are d4 woofers so i need something 1 ohm stable.

  2. well i've gotten used to the sealed box, wanting a little more output so i think im going to tackle a ported box. i have some generic plans, another person from another forum is building this box for his solobarics.

the outer dimensions would be basically the same, but i'm not sure about the port. i think i want it to fire upwards. heres the link to the plans. also, i've never built a ported box, could someone explain to me why its in square inches? thats the surface area of the inside of the port right?

i would like to tune the box to around 30 hz, no higher than 32, any suggestions for the port?

scroll down to the second set of plans he did, about 1/3 of the way down the page.

  3. i could use the snot knocked out of my nose, maybe i could come check it out sometime lol.

my system is nothing to sneeze at, but it would probably seem like it to you lmao. if that doesnt impress you, maybe a ride in an 11 second trans am will :domoslay:

in any case, :WELCOME: to ssa.

  4. i've got a nine.1 for my 12's, and an orion 8004 im going to power an alumapro alc 6.2 component set with. im planning on running the mids off 2 channels and the tweets off the other 2.

im thinking of buying these rca's

    http://cgi.ebay.com/Stinger-4-Channe...QQcmdZViewItem

but i didnt know if it was cool to use a 4 channel set like that with 2 of them running the components (split with a stinger helix y cord on each one, so the mids and tweets will both be playing the front channel) and the other 2 used for the bass on the nine.1. they should be fully shielded so this is cool right?

also how do i want to wire the amp up? i just bridge 2 of the channels with the 4 ohm mids and get a 2 ohm load right? what about the tweets?

  5. yeah looks good i'd snatch it up, as long as you know what you're getting yourself into. these cars can either be a pain in the ass to have in the long run, if you know how to maintain it, or cost you a good deal of money unless you have cheap places to get it worked on.

another thing. it does not get good gas mileage lol. that stuff isnt cheap these days.

we should run em after you get it all tuned up :domoslay:

  6. i can get a pair of koda 6.5 inch components with the tweets and crossover for 175 bucks.. i want something with good midbass but i dont want only midbass. does that sound like a good deal? i had been thinking about the rainbow dreamlines for 300 but i dont know how they compare to the kodas, have heard good things about both but never a comparison. they'll be going in sealed kickpanels in my 87 trans am

  7. today after carpeting my box, i hooked up my multimeter to wire coming from the box. the speakers are wired in what should be a 1 ohm load. exactly the same as the fosgate diagram, except that my + and - from the amp are not both to opposite coils of the same speaker, the + goes to one speaker, and the - goes to the other speaker. what gives?

i never did check it before so i dont know if i've been running 1.5 ohms since i hooked it up or not.
