  1. Amazing work :)

Just a couple days ago and all there was was the equipment in boxes and now its what 80% done?

I started the build log on here way late. Those are the pictures from the beginning.I'm just updating as I have time.

Thanks for the props though man.

  2. Stinger HPM 1/0 all the way to the back.

In the doors are Whip Audio 6.5s.They are incredibly loud and clear for an incredible price.Dynamatted the front doors around the speaker and inside the door behind the speaker.

I also went ahead and sprayed the grilles Satin Black while I had the doors off to throw a little more black in the mix and it turned out pretty nice for being so simple.

  3. Dang that's sexy how u like the kenwOod?

The X693 is awesome. It is an incredible piece for the price and it's features. You really couldn't ask for a whole lot more from a single din unit.I sold a ton of them when they first came out, even to people who didn't want to add a system, but just wanted something nice.It takes a little bit of time for the average person to get used to and find their way around, but overall it is pretty easy to use.

    interesting ...

    Stay tuned.You won't be disappointed ;)

    Mo Power :)

What kind of box? ~whispers~ subs up/port up ~Whispers~ :fing34:

Box is subs back, port back.Port in the middle with both subs on each side of the port.Tuned to 31 Hz.

Only one AQ 2200? ;) Hehe.

Ha we'll see about upgrading to more power later. For now, this will be just fine.

  4. Finally got a client to rep some Ascendant Audio gear around town. It's a 2003 Chevy Tahoe total system overhaul.Should make for an extremely solid setup that is going to wail on the lows and sound good doing it.

you got an interesting alt and location lol

Ill post a picture of the battery...THATS in a very very very interesting location...brb

Have you ever worked on a Lamborghini Gallardo? Now THOSE are fun to change the batteries in.......SYKE!

  6. You have all waited long enough!

Now, Damplifier Pro comes with a annodized black foil, rather than a silver foil.

We also increased the thickness of the foil from 6 mils to 6.5 mils for added strength, and better vibration damping!

We will be updating the pics on the website in the next couple of days, but I can tell you right now, this stuff looks amazing, and performs even better!

Check out the product on our site:

    ANT

Got 160 sq. ft. of that stuff headed my way as of today. Thanks again man for everything. Greatly appreciated.

  7. Nice flex on the headliner. :fing34:

What size box is that (it seems kinda small but maybe its my eyes)?

Thanks man.The box is 14.63 cu ft. It probably looks so small though because its the Cadillac ESV, the long one, like a Suburban. You can check out more pictures in the link in post #1.

Yeah that is what I was thinking, its my eyes and thats the big boy Escalade.

Maybe I should talk to the client about putting two more in there then so its not so misconceiving fing05.gif

  9. Here is a video I promised ya'll I would get up here for you. This is from the build I posted like two months ago Cadillac ESV Build Log <-----Link

Couldn't see where to just update the old build log so I just added a new topic for the video. If there is a way to update the topic, some one let me know

Click the video to open it up on Youtube to watch it a lot bigger. You can see more detail and flex that way.

Let me know what ya'll think.Thanks.

  10. Thanks dude. That is a good unit and you are very informative. fing05.gif:fing34: I have a KCD-X692(borrowing indefinitely from a friend until I buy my double din) right now, and I must say I love kenwoods handling of ipod way better than pioneers i've seen. My friend with the f90 has to open his glove box and turn the ipod on every time he starts the car. I leave my ipod in the car everyday and i never have to do anything. It starts automatically.

I have another question that you are anyone else could help me with.

Because I want to stay as cheap as possible, should I cut NAV out of the equation?

    pros of having nav:

    -sleek(no extra stuff)

    -instant directions

    cons:

It is a lot more expensive than similar units without it

    pros of not having nav:

cheaper(plus I have a magellan I can use if I go somewhere unfamiliar)

    cons:

have to remember directions or think to to bring external gps before hand

I know I sound like a cheapskate, but I live alone and make about $1000 a month. I've got bills and need to save for other things like repaying my student loans, etc. I wanna make sure I get the most bang for as few bucks as possible. Some people are the Geo Metro(cheap ass Jensen or Dual) type of people, and some or the Porsche 911($2000 head unit) type of people. I'm a Toyota Camry type guy and I'm looking for the Toyota Camry of DvD(possibly/hopefully NAV) units.

Just to clarify my situation so you guys can understand the situation. Thanx for your answers so far(especially you, Joe) and I will appreciate anyone and everyone's further input.

    This is a damn-friendly Audio form.I'm glad I started coming here :drink40:

Sorry it took so long to reply.I'm having trouble with the settings on this website sending me an email whenever some one replies in a topic I have posted a message in.Frustrating.....

Anyways that KDC-X692 is a real nice unit. Good, high voltage pre-outs and easy to use direct iPod control. Real nice CD quality playback too. Kenwood is also one of the only, maybe the only company, on the market that you can use your white USB iPod cable that came with your iPod and plug it in to the USB of the unit to get direct iPod playback and charging capabilities without having to buy the manufacturer's cable(saves you $20).

America is in a recession, and I get questions like that everyday from customers. I DO NOT recommend Jensen OR Dual to anyone, for obvious reasons. As far as navigation goes, no doubt, you are going to save a couple hundred dollars. It honestly comes down to your personal preference. I always recommend that people save up to a point to get what they WANT, not what they will settle with. Anyone that knows me knows the saying "Buy what you want, not what you can afford.Cause if you buy what you can afford, you are going to end up going back and buying what you want later." That X692 you have now is a nice single-din piece, but if you are just dying to have a screen and can due without the navi, Kenwood has some NICE screens out for 09.Incredible picture quality.Pioneer's AVH-P4100DVD is one from Pioneer though that I wouldn't leave out for units with out Navigation.Super sleek design and lots of nice features.Good iPod control as well.I'd recommend just going through Kenwood's website and looking through their units and comparing them side by side. One thing I also want to say as far as navigation goes though is you can probably still get your hands on the DNX-8120 for relatively cheap, like the mid $750's.Only a year old and has all kinds of goodies.Just look around and hit me up with a PM if you have any further questions or any particular units.

  11. What are your limitations? If you just want a little more battery reserve, I would recommend a XS Power 3400 or 2700 in the back.Have you already replaced the factory battery in the stock location with an aftermarket one?

  12. Ok, I'm looking to put a new H/U in. Here are my parameters:

    -nav built in

    bluetooth built in

    -ipod control

    -dvd

    -double din

    -5.8" or bigger screen

    -sub pre outs

Right now, I'm leaning towards the Pioneer Premier f90bt. A friend of mine has one and I'm really impressed with it. I can find it for about $650 new and $475 refurb on Ebay(would you guys trust a refurb???) The only thing I don't like about the unit is the cd slot. Its petty, but I'm used to flipdowns where the slot is behind the face. I think it looks a little sleeker, plus you get an extra inch or so of screen.

Opinions on this unit? Anybody have any suggestions for similar units, preferably around the same price range?

    Thanks in advance.

I'd look into Kenwood. They have a DNX-6140 that is similar in style and features to the F90BT.Built in navigation by Garmin.Parrot Bluetooth.Direct iPod control.DVD feedback. Double Din 6.1" fixed screen, and a rear/sub switchable pre-out.If you are shopping on eBay the 6140 seems to be about $725 brand new.As far as a refurbished unit, if you are already putting in hundreds of dollars into a nice head unit, go ahead and by new and get the full warranty.Sure it may save you money, but think about how long you'll be sitting there punching yourself in the head when the unit goes out and the short term warranty is over.As far as looks, the 6140 is pretty sharp, but the F90 is pretty sleek as well, with the gloss finish on the face and the variable illumination. The 6140 has variable illumination as well.I've installed several of both and haven't really found too many peeves about the DNX-6140.

I'm sure the F90BT is pretty impressive as far as sitting in your buddie's car and playing around with it from time to time, but as far as owning it and using it everyday there are a number of things that grow old.The F series seemed too good to be true in production, and was a trainwreck when released.Though the engineers and techs have come up with many updates to fix many of the problems, Pioneer has already released a whole new line to replace the F series.I hope this helps.Feel free to hit me up with any questions.

    Joe
