Thinking of trying out a bandpass box for my 15" btl, but does anyone have the t/s specs for this sub? It's the old BTL with only double stack magnets, 15". Thanks!

I cant' put it half in/half out because it will need to stick out to far, and be too close to my rear trunk wall. I also like the fact that i'm gaining some internal volume . As for the port, it's just an 8" sonotube with a homemade flare on it.

I have a number of questions that I was hoping someone with experience can answer. I'm currently running a 15" BTL off 1600 in a 4 cube enclosure at 33hz. I feel like I don't have enough port area- i'm using one 6" aero which gives me 28" of port and 7" per cube. Do you think i'd have a noticeable difference by switching to a larger 8" port? I already bought the port, but don't want to destoy my old box if there wont' even be a noticeable difference. I'm hoping to achieve better lows...I figure that my larger port will give more output/peak at my tuning frequency of 33hz, hence giving me a better low end. In doing so, i'll also gain slightly more volume in my box (.2 cubic feet) as the aero will be completely external. So assuming I do it- 1. Will it be okay if the port has a 90 degree bend in it? I know it probably won't be quite as efficient, but will the difference be noticeable? I'm not doing an TL'ing...just a daily setup. and 2. My port will end right where the sub is. I've drawn up a picture to better describe it: Red is the sub, black is my port. Will this have any negative affects? My other option is to turn the port the other direction towards the side of my trunk. I'm a bit leary to do this as it'll be fairly close to my trunk side wall. Thanks!

How are you going to fit that in your trunk?? It's going to need at least 6 cubes.

Your port opening is too close to the front wall. You need it to be the at least the width of your port away from the wall.

Just thought i'd update this. Replaced the tinsels a few days ago, as well as the dustcap. I decided to be ghetto, and cut up some spider I had from another woofer (RE MT) and patched the holes in the BTL spider using it. It's running fine so far!! This thing pounds. Hopefully it'll last awhile And to the poster above me, I ride a CRF450 too!

Assuming you want something cheap: Just got get some Phoenix Gold RSD 6.5's and a 100-150 watt 2ch amp.

More information...budget? Assumin you're goin to amp them right?

Anyone know where I can get some tinsel lead? I decided ill try replacing the tinsel leads and just see how long that holds up. Ive been trying to contact Fi, but cant get a response. Is there any other way to get some? I would just keep waiting for a response...but im pretty excited to hear this btl!

Don't know how much i'd sell it for, or what it's worth. I think i'll try and use it with just some new tinsels for now. Fi is going to send me some soon (I hope....). Anything I could do to the spider to prolong it's life? i know the duct tape thing was a joke..but hey, would it help at all? lol

Yeah I read through the tutorials and i'm not sure if I feel comfortable doing it. And yeah-about the spider, that's what i'm wondering about....if the sub will still work/function with the spider in that condition.

Any more opinions on this? I guess what i'm asking is what if I were to have someone just replace the tinsels for me? Obviously it's not the best thing to do, but it's the cheapest and if it'll work i'd much prefer to just have that done.

I know a recone will fix it...lol I was just wondering if there was a way to fix it and use it as it is. Frankly, I don't have the ~100$ i'll need for a recone, and adding that to the price I paid for this sub i'll have paid way too much .

Ahh, crap. I think i'll just sell it then. By the time I pay for a recone, it's going to be more than I can afford to pay for a sub . There's no way to fix this so it's just in "working" condition? I know it's not the right way to do it...but I can't afford a recone.
