  1. Alt is being built this week. I think 275ho alt should feed me some power.

Very nice/clean setup! Gotta love a Volvo with bass! :)

Edit: Do you have anything holding down the back battery? It would suck to have it hit a ground :x

  2. The Xcons are sexy subs. The trunk is looking clean and simple, keep the good work.:)

Oh man, I'm sooo happy it got there (and safely) after the run-around the post office gave me! Looks like I'll be throwing that BL in my trunk this weekend.. :drink40:

  3. at roughly 100 ip's a day, it would takes years to block them, unless you're doing cidr ranges :)

anyway, work for a webhosting company, we come across this often. IP.board has decent internal spam controls that look for post flooding/login attempt fails/email harvesting and auto-blocks them. You may also want to put in some sort of Captcha to help block the new spam registrations.

  4. If I'm not mistaken, didn't the person on here that sold you that amp say it himself that that the led was broken???

No, I am the third owner of this amp, if he did it would clear up EVERYTHING.

Ill try to get my hands on a woofer tomorrow and make sure that it is just the l.e.d

Feel free to use the BL to test it, unless re-packaging it is a bitch :D

  5. LOL sorry guys I had kinda abandoned the thread when I found THESE! So thanks everyone for their help, and unless I call AA and they want less than 219 for the entire Carbon set then I'll most likely go with the Imagines.

To anyone who is wondering, the reason I don't want to run the Hertz up front is because I did tons and tons of research on them and always came up with the same comments (Decent midbass, Tweeter is crossed too low and gets harsh, Updated set is 100x better) over and over and over and I didn't want to run into the same problems I had read about. Normally I would take my chances, but seeing people agree on something other than "Pure trash, they suck" or "awesome! so smooth and detailed!! etc." is not very common in this hobby and when it does happen I don't wanna take my chance on something as important as my front stage. Thanks though guys.

Who cares what other people think about those speakers, how does it sound to you? What kind of amp you have on them, where are they installed?

  6. 'CCA is the maximum amperes that can be continuously removed from a battery for 30 seconds at 0°F before its voltage drops to unusable levels. A 550 CCA battery can supply 550 amperes for 30 seconds at 0°F. This was important back in the days when vehicles took a long time to start. Now if you put a charge to your starter for 30 seconds it would probably burn up, and it doesn't make any difference in car audio.' - Nathan @ XS Power

But anyway, most of us have used Optima batteries in our setups, we just found better options available. : )

  7. I'm a desktop support guy here @ work, and I'm not sure if this has been broughten up or not. But I thought that I may share a site that I visit to past time and lmao with you guys just in case you ever feel the need to burn some time away.

Just click on any page number and there will be laughs to be made.

Hah, thanks. I had 20 mins to kill and this came in handy! Goofy animated gifs ftw.

  8. So I know what SQ means and I'm not going 100% that route.

I want something that sounds good to my ears. I don't want a flat band but then again I don't want a U either. I want a good blend of bass to midbass and no harsh highs, but I do like loudish tweeters. Not the cheap hood ninja ones where they have 4 sets.

To start off, its going in my 01 Ford F250 CrewCab.

    I'm thinking of

Headunit- Kenwood DoubleDin(no sure on which yet.)

    Subbass- 2 10 AA Chaos(Behind backseat)

    Midbass/Midrange -AA 7" CF mid(Factory Door location)

    Tweeter- AA Seas tweeter

Processor- Not sure yet. (I like the RF 3sixty)

    Sub amp- Sundown SAZ1500v2(or 2000d)

    Mid amp- Crossfire VR404 bridged

Tweeter amp- Not sure yet. Need a 50x2

All this isn't set in stone. Advise would be greatly appreciated.

What we got out of this is.. you want to (correctly) set up your front stage. How about mounting locations, going active or passive 2way? Do you have room/able to make kick pods for the AA carbons? The more info the better, installation is > 90% of a good front stage.

  9. These are really tough little trucks. Only thing I would be worried about would be suspension parts and driveline parts. Check for blow-by and and make sure the clutch is good. Personally, I think $2K is high as well, but if it's a nice clean truck with a documented history, I'd pay a little more.

Suspension-wise, i've had two large motorcycles in the back (although it did bottom out a couple times) weighing roughly 800 lbs and it was okay. All of the weight is in the front of the truck, it handles much better with something in the back.

Like a box with a few subs? ;)

  11. What are your plans for the truck though? It's very small on the inside, roughly 7-8" total behind the seat with the seat ALL the way forward. The inside is all 'plasticky?" Without the radio in it, I can honestly use a garden hose to wash the inside of the truck.

However, PLENTY of room under the hood to mount multiple batteries.. can probably fit 4+ large batts easily.

  12. I have a 96 nissan hardbody and have never had a major problem with it, 200k+ miles on it so far and still running strong. I've had several different loads in the back from mulch, helping 10+ people move at different times, multiple motorcycles, towing our boat on long trips a couple times, and even taught a few buddies how to drive a manual (including myself, and has NOT been easy on the transmission). It still feels the same as it did when it was brand new. I love that truck!

Edit: I don't know if the truck is worth $2900 though, happened to get ours for $6.5k off the lot brand .. the dealer we got it from had an order for 100 of them for a business coming to our area, but cancelled. It had no back bumper, radio, speakers, right side mirror, nada..

  13. I quoted the wrong post, my bad.. I wasn't disagreeing with anything in your post, Hzd Skizzy, nor did I recommend the Q in this case. : )

@OP: You likely won't 'cook the coils' on the BL as long as you set the gains correctly and disable the bass boost. There's quite a few great articles on here about 16v electrical setups (in this case why you shouldn't), how to properly set gains, good batteries to use in car audio, etc that you should read up on before purchasing any products. Before you purchase anything expensive, learn from your previous mistakes! I'm personally shocked I didn't ruin more subs/amps in my previous years, the crap I tried from believing other people I knew.

  14. If you get a 16v battery your going to need a very high powered alternator to keep feeding that battery. I would suggest you do not do that. Plus, I don't think the kenwood would take 16v very well. Alternator would need to be running at what, 17-18v to feed that batt? For us to suggest a sub, tell us your goals for your system. Like what do you want to acheive. For me, with that kind of power I would get an SSD 12 but that's just me.

Oh and by the way, you probably burnt the coils on your other sub by clipping it to death with the bass boost at +18. Not a very smart setting to have, when you don't know what your doing.

I used to use an earlier version of that amp, not a bad amp.. take your pick, a Fi ssd/q/bl/btl will all sound great, but it sounds like you are going to want the bl or btl. Despite how great the +18db at 40hz bass boost sounds to you, DO NOT USE IT (unless you want new subs again). And you have quite a bit of reading before even looking at 16v batts, doubt the kenwood will run on that power anyway.

  15. If you're rca's are ran parallel with the power wire that will cause problems. Unless of course it isn't ran that way ;)

    Not true ;)

OP: Take the ground from your harness and make your own ground, 99% of the time factory grounds are crap.

I've always heard the same thing as well, is this another myth? I've been running my rca's on the other side of the car from the power wire for years now after reading that, and only cross them at a 90 degree angle if needed.

x2 on the factory grounds though, had the same problem and was fixed by making a new ground.
