    Sundown 50.4 installed

Thanks. It has been a while since I was in the game. I did alot of reading these forums and decided on the sundown line. I was only going to buy the saz1000d but then the closeout sale was such a good buy. I have a lot of time hiding all the wires but I am also happy with how clean it is. This in the rear of a 04 chevy trailblazer that I plan to keep so I wanted it to be clean. I installed everything new including the headunit and new wire to all the door speakers. The door molex was a little time consuming but it was well worth it. I did not want to splice any of the factory wiring. Thanks again for the good remarks. Edit: I get tons of bass with rap but way less with rock could it be the box? Mabey ported wil help...

I got the shipping conformaton on my saz100d so it will go in next week. I just wanted to drop a line and to say this thing rocks. Anyone wanting to step up their system but dont want to go real big this thing is perfect. It was way louder than I expected. Good job Jacob.

    New SAX 50.4 Smell?

I just got around to starting the install of my 50.4 I am still waiting on some parts to complete it. When I took it out of the box it has been sitting in I noticed a burnt wire smell. It seems stronger on the side where the crossovers are. Is this just because it is new and closed up in the box and fresh soder? It shows it was tested before packaged and I know Jacob said he tests them all. It is new never installed bought at SSA so I'm not worried about warrenty issues. I am just wondering if I am a little paranoid. I won't have everything for it unitl the end of the week so that will be the earliest I will know anything. Just so this dont get misunderstood I do NOT think sundown sent me a bad amp. I dont even have it hooked up to know for sure if there is smothing wrong. I am not here to bash them. I belive in their products and am placing another order this week to finish the build. I am just wondering if this is normal or what it could be.

    sax 50.4 crodover starting point

HPF on both 1,2 and HPF on 3,4 correct. What am i leaving all the way down? I assume the HPF setting @ 50hz. which I have it on 50 hz in this pic. and both HPF turned on. I have everything else turned to its lowest setting (counterclockwise). Range on 1x and 1x Is this where u need me to be? If I turn off the HPF on the headunit off and I turn the knob from 50hz towards 500hz this will also filter out the lows with the more I turn them towards 500hz the more mids will be filtered out. . I am looking at running these speakers around 70 to 80 hz. to start. The starting cutoff on the head is 80hz.. So it is possible to have all 4 channels set to HPF? I read somewhere, wich I may have not understood it comlpetly, that it was not possible to use HPF on both 1,2 and 3.4 channels. Thankyou very much for the help. I searched for awnsers on 3 different sites before posting.

    sax 50.4 crodover starting point

I want to run 4 infinity kappa 6.5 2 way. What is the best starting point on the crossover? Set both crossovers at full? I am new to all this and have searched and searched but it seems most people are using this amp for componets. It will be ran off a Alpine cda 9886 which they advertise has a high pass crossover bilt into it for the front and rear preamp outputs. Will this amp do what I need it to do? The moer I read the more nervous I get that i made the wrong choice. Thankyou.
