Howdy folks! My name is Ken, and I'm from Ada, Michigan. At 41 I've seen and heard alot in car audio. I spent a few years installing in local shops and in my garage. My first system consisted of: a Hitachi 321AR tape deck. a Concord CA30-4 amp, a pair of Polk 6x9's in the rear deck, and a pair of Bazooka 6 1/2" Bass Tubes in the trunk. That stuff was transported in a '77 Chrysler Cordoba (I was 18..). These days, I roll around in a 2006 KIA Spectra. I'm constantly experimenting with my gear, trying new ideas and components. Drives my wife up a wall. I currently have an older Panasonic CD player (5 volt outs), an OLD Ultimate Sound US2125 pushing my MB Quart 6 1/2" separa…

  3. Hi all! Thanks for having me! My name is Brandon and I drive a '94 F-150 I've always been into car audio but its always been major brands like Kicker and Alpine. I finally decided to get some SA-8s. I got a good deal on a new set on V1s. I have 2 Sa-8 V1s. The box I am using is a Ground Shaker SPQ28 http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_62689_Ground-Shaker-SQP-2-8.html. My amplifier is a Hifonics HFI1500 @ 2 ohm. They are brand new and have about 3-5 hours of play time on them. On some songs there is what sounds like a mechanical sound. Like its slapping inside of itself. Also the dust cap gets a pretty warm. I want to eventually rewire them down to 1 ohm but i want to ma…

Yo i'm a lil' southern boy from charleston SC haha and i was lookin for some help on my system setup. What i have planned so far is a 10" 2 ohm FI Q for my acura rsx. (It's a hatchback and there's nothing between the seats and the trunk) I already have some polk component speakers which will do for now. For the amp situation i was thinkin either a dsc1000.1 ( DSC1000.1 - MB Quart 1 Ch 1000 Watt Amplifier ) for the "Q" and a 4 channel discuss amp for the tweeters and front speakers, or 1 discuss amp, and a sundown audio amp wherever it would be better suited (4 chan. or mono) Sorry if that made no sense. My music prefernce is pretty broad, but i like rap and alot of techno…

Hello All!!! I`m super excited to be part of this great forum. I`m looking forward to learn about car audio and such. I would love if some if you guys give me some recommendations on what kind of set-up to get. I have the factory setup on my 2005 Acura TSX I was looking to upgrade such system if possible at all. I was thinking of adding an amplifier and maybe a subwoofer to start. I currently have a $700 budget that can be used towards upgrading the audio on my car. Thanks for your help.

Hey guys, brand new to the world of car audio and just had a few questions! Planning to get two 12" icons, and being 1250watts each looking for a good 2500 watt amp...but I was wondering is it better to get an amp around 2500-3000 watt or two seperate at 1250-1500 watts? Also to be able to run these I plan on getting an xs battery but which should I get? I also plan on doing the "Big 3", but is there anything else I should do? Thanks for the help everyone, like I said complately blind in this world but really want to learn!

Thought I would introduce myself. My name is Jay, and I was sent here from FitFreak.net to look for good subs that won't take up too much of our limited cargo space. Looking to go with dual 10" subs, I have Kicker RS components installed already in all four doors and a cheapo JVC head for now until my Eclipse double-DIN Bluetooth Nav comes in. Here are some pics. And here is the Sonapower box I was going to go with, and it was going to have dual RE Audio SE12D4 subs, but that is changing now that I see the SSA subs.

Just dropping by to say hey to everybody. I'm waaay too old for this, but I'm doing it again. I've been a fan of car audio since I heard my first real system back in 1984. There was a guy named Sid who owned a car stereo store, and he came by to show off his new install in his 76 or 77 Monte Carlo. It was a typical installer's car... Wires all over the place, cassette deck sitting on the hump. It had a single sub firing up through the parcel shelf under that big "V" back glass. He played "One Thing Leads to Another", by The Fixx. I got queasy from the bass, and I've been looking for that same feeling ever since. My new system is about to come together in my 1986 Toyota T…

Hey guys, new guy here from Mid MO. I have always enjoyed car audio, and look forward to learning more. I have a 03 Lexus GS300, I am about halfway through a budget build. I use my car for long trips for work and having good overall sound and being able to go loud and with not terrible quality is my goal. I am not a SQ guy but I do appreciate quality and balance, but don't mind a good bass thump too time to time. I am on a hard budget and i will let you know what i have set aside for which part of the upgrade, for the next series of upgrades. My current setup is as follows. Kenwood Excelon DDX775BH H/U Front doors: NVX VSP65KIT (Component w/crossover…

Hi im new on this forum. I recently purchased a FI X12 and while looking for information I stumbled accross this website. I am pretty new to car audio. Mostly because im 17 and have had my license for a little over a year. I started out with a lanzar max 12 and a pyramid classic amp off of amazon which cost me around $100. i made my own box. i installed everything into my truck my self. I replaced all the door speakers with kicker ds6.5s and the head unit is a clarion cx501. from there i upgraded my amplifier to a powerbass 400.2. I'v made probably 4 different boxes and im now making a new box for my X12 that should arrive on wednesday. tell me what you think.

Alright I have a 02 KIA Spectra, the alternator I am running is 300 amp. I have 4 cubeic box with two 12inch Zv4's. Its tuned to 45hz. I have recently upgraded my amp from a Hifonics Brutus 2500wtt to Sundown 4000 watt amp. I also have a XS power D3100 battery. All the wiring is 1/0 gauge. I am being told from friends that its fine for running a burp in competition, but not enough power for demos or sustand listening. I think I should be ok? Just second guessing myself. Hopefully I gave enough info?

No but really, I joined this website because ive been lacking on the car audio forum side of the internet and this website kept popping up in my search results and my Anti-Virus kept saying it was a malicious website so I decided to turn off the AV and here I am, currently got questions about power upgrades to a 4,000w system I am building.
