I am trying to put together quality budget system for 60yr mans street rod.Looking at single 4or5 channel amp comps in front, coax for rear fill off of head unit and single 10 or 12 ,but would consider an 8 or pair of 8's.Car has full dynamat interior.Components will most likely be in lower front corner of doors,so tweeter location is unknown but most likely next to mid.Amp will be bridged on rear two channels for sub, remote sub nob would be nice.Sub depth is a concern +/- 6inches Speaker I have heard and liked. Polk mm.S329 Pioneer ts-d $200 Polks not worth extra $ but have better bottom end Bravox cs60k or carbon fibers ,have not heard Amps looking at cadence Ia4,arc…

Looking for some recommendations for a head unit. So, what I will be working with is 4 evil1 tweets, 4 evil65 mids, and 2 nvx800.4 amps to power them. One amp will power all mids, and the other will power the tweets. 2 or 3 15 inch subs will come later. Almost decided on the hellions. But, anyways I want to run an active setup in my 96 jeep grand cherokee. I thought about using the amps crossovers instead of a head unit. I also considered an audio control matrix plus since I will be using y splinters and do not want to lose any rca output. What head unit would anyone recommend for this setup? Also, if using the nvx 800.4 crossover is a bad idea, is there another setup tha…

First let me start off by saying that i am a huge fan of this forum. I have been snooping around for quite a while before i signed up to be a member. I am a big supporter of companies like Sundown Audio, SSA, IA, because i feel like it is a better product that is the underdog in the mainstream person's eye. I am ready for a new set-up because i down-sized to a 4 door honda civic from a larger SUV. I am looking for a single 12" subwoofer with good SPL that i can use in a daily driver application. I will be running the sub off of either a SAZ-1000d or the new SAX-1200d at either 1 ohm or 2ohms, whichever meets the subwoofer's specifications better. I am very interested in t…

I see a lot of amps pushing plenty of rms and the speakers are generally limited to 100rms or lower. Occaisionally, I will see one able to take 200 rms. My question would be, do those that can take higher power give a better quality sound? I am missing on why an amp would put out huge amounts of power when no speakers can hold them. Is it so you can run multi speakers on one channel?

Hey all, New here, but not to forums. Found this site through CarAudio/DIYMA or something. I have limited knowledge of car audio stuff, I haven't installed or had anything nice to listen to for 10 years now. Truck is an '07 Ram Mega Cab, so I have ample space behind the rear seats. So far I have: Pioneer AVIC-Z120BT Focal 165 V30 JBL GTO 1004 (on the way, $100 recent Best Buy sale) Have my wiring (AudioTechnix 1/0 OFC), need terminals/distro blocks/etc. AudioTechnix 80mil sound deadener Currently I'm reading about and researching subs/amps, and whether I want Luxury Liner Pro, or SDS CCF + MLV for the last pieces of the puzzle. I read rules 14-18, so I will not use SPL/…

hello all for my 01 Pontiac Bonneville se, daily driver, I am in need of your suggestions for a complete system. my listening tastes are disco, HUGE house/techno listener, reggae, jazz, hip hop, and easy listening music!! 2-12 subs (no clue what to get), 4-6.5 mids for the four doors (eye-balling the jbl ms62c for sure), only 1 amp for the subs, and 1 amp for the 6.5 mids.. a good clean head unit, a sub box, wiring, etc, and interested in having a parametric eq to tweak the sound as I listen to various types of music. really not interested in setting off car alarms! but definitely want to bang pretty good as im on the hwy.. key importance is sound quality, clarity, and a…

MMkay... I'm not sure off hand wether I've done the 'newbie' thing. So here goes: Plans for my competition toy are changing, and I value the opinions 'round here. I've been tossing around alot of idea's and equipment to the point at which I near to flipping a coin. I now have a car capable of 24-28 cubes easily. She comes to me with a 'wall' in it. I'll be tearing it out as it's pretty weak, but now the idea is there, to toss the Sundance The important things: *The Mustang will be Street driven throughout the summertime (and safety concerns accomodated for). *Also there-by semi-pretty. *12-14 volt system. *Will only run one/two amps for daily for sanity purposes. (2-3k…

Hey guys, I'm new to car audio and just installed my first sub a few days ago. It's a 12 inch Dcon D4. I have it running at 2 ohms off of an audioque aq750. I built the enclosure using the optimal ported recommendation on the SSA website. The problem is I cant turn up the gain on the amp very much without the sub making a rattling noise. Any ideas what I might have done wrong to cause this? I know I'm not getting anywhere close to full potential out of this thing. With the gain set low enough to eliminate the rattle, the mirrors don't even move! The sound is very good, but there just isn't any power at all. All advice is greatly appreciated.

Hello, I am in a serious situation here. So, my buddy and I are into this car audio thing. (You'd have to be from Iowa to understand that its looked down upon.) So, he has his two SA-12's on a SAX-1200. And they hit. So, the main thing I was wondering, was what would basically give him a run for his money? I have considered 2 Fi SSD 15's, 2 SA-15's(out of the question, I don't wanna be the homo who copies him), and the main choice I'm complimenting at the moment is a single 15" on a SAX-1200. Possibly an Icon 15"? Any input is abliged. Thanks! -Austin
