Guess I'll start off with my ride, I got a 1999 GMC Yukon 4 DR. Currently I have 2 12' Alpine type Es in a sealed box, with an Alpine 450 watt amp. I have all infinity door speakers. I'm in the process of upgrading to a better system. I'm getting 1 18" Fi BTL (haven't ordered yet), I have a Hifonics 2010D Amp in the mail, and a rockford fosgate 0 gauge amp kit. Just went to home depot today and picked up the wood for the box. It's going to be right at 7.3 cubic feet tuned to right around 32 Hertz. That's all I got for now, and I plan to post some pics up of my current set up, and build pics for the new one. I will also be doing the big 3, and any other advise on h…

  5. Hi, I'm Mick, new to this forum, not to audio...was an installer for about 16 years. Done a bunch of huge installs, including all the show vehicles for the shop I was at. Been out of it a couple years, and just miss the scene....Actually came on here because I was looking for a new sub to play with for my daily driver...just pre-ordered a Sundown SA-8, really intrigued me. Anyways, hope to get involved in some discussions on here, really love to talk audio!

Quick question. If I have two subs at 1 ohm each and they were wired into a mono amp with 4 connectors, would the impendance come to 1 ohms since they were technically in parallel?

hey guys. new to this forum, not new to the world. im over on floridaspl.com as well. i just recently came over to give my 2 cents on a little disagreement some of your "tech masters" had on a malibu build. a bit about me. i started competing sometime in late 2009. in 2010 i managed to win florida state finals, southeast regionals, and took 2nd place at world finals for the 120-129.9 bass race class. i currently have 4 hertz spl show 15"s in a wall, powered by #22 of 50 DD Z-SE as a substage. my front stage consists of 2 sets of hertz hsk 165 xls, and 2 spl show 8"s powered by a hertz ep-4x. by no means the best, but its a solid work in progress, and one of these days i'l…

Hi all! Just another new guy here, I have been into the scene for a few years though. I'm attempting to make the jump from fabricator to designer/tuner/fabricator. I have built cars from the ground up for years, even went to school for it, but have never done the audio side of the build. I just got a new toy, a 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 regular cab. I know a regular cab isn't the optimal choice do to the lack of space, but I couldn’t pass up the deal. I have rims, tires, lift, go-fast parts, and everything else in the garage or on its way, so onto the audio for me. My experience in the audio world has pretty much consisted of handing money to someone and saying “Make it lou…

so here is how i found this site. being from charlotte nc i knew about sundown and SI. i blew up my kicker kx1200.1 yesterday and not wanting that nasty sloppy power it was giving out decided to get a sundown 1000d. i picked it up about an hour and a half ago plus some 0ga wire. i have to say it isnt as powerful as the kicker but the soud difference is night and day. the kicker was very sloppy and had a very uncontrolled sound to it, if that makes any sense. the sundown has surprised me in clarity and the output is plenty for my 2 type r 12's. now its just time to rebuild my box because its put together like crap, and sounds like it to.

  22. This will be my first time trying to do anything other than just straight swapping speaker for speaker. I have a '96 Jeep Cherokee Sport that i would like to stick a woofer in the "cubby hole" similar to this http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/write-up-97186/ . Except that i would like to avoid spray foam and just fiberglass the cavity. Is this feasible? Would it last? Also I would like to 'glass a replacement panel for the car instead of just hack up the original and hide the woofer. This is a Daily beater vehicle until i get around to finishing my classic car... and will probably remain a daily vehicle even after that. I was originally looking at SoundQubed's HD…
