  1. Hi guys i have all sorts of problems,1st where to start. my OHIO alternator does lousy at keeping the charge to my 4 xs 2700s, i have 2 runs of 0 gauge from the front battery to the back, 2 grnd and 2 positives, big 3 in 0 gauge,my amp will play about 5 min then shut off, then play 1 min and shut off and so on downhill. back when i had 2 orion 15s amp never shut off, same set up diff subs. now that i got 2 18 SMDs i think they are too hungry for power the amp is 9000w rms 13.8 volts. alternator is 14.0 when cold 13.4 warm then music goes and so does the voltage12.8 max. someone said to get a smaller pulley OHIO sent me one with 6 grooves mine is 8, DC power makes a dual …

  2. Hey guys. Now that i have my new sub and amp on the way (SKAR Audio 12" subwoofer and Sundown Audio SAX-1200D), i wanted to post a thread that might ask for clarification on the theory of what everyone refers to as " 10% is the Equipment and 90% is the Installation". What exactly does this mean? I mean, obviously, i would imagine that the box within which you place your subwoofer will make a huge difference. The grade of wiring you use will make a difference. All of the level adjustments made on the amplifier will make a big difference. I just want to ensure that i get the best sound out of my new purchase, and if 90% of what is to be expected is in the installation i wan…

Ok so i have an acura rsx and i'm looking to have a ported box that's about 1.2 cubic feet or less to go in the trunk with the sub facing up and the port firing at the hatch/trunk. From what i hear, the SA-12 can be put in a smaller box than the Q; however, would it get as low? or have the same Sound Quality (although i know sq isn't really what subs, especially poerted ones, are for) The Sa-12 is cheaper (about $45-55 less) than the Q, and this money could go towards sound deadening or other things also. Help me choose Please! haha If more information needs to be given lemme know

  6. First let me start off by saying that i am a huge fan of this forum. I have been snooping around for quite a while before i signed up to be a member. I am a big supporter of companies like Sundown Audio, SSA, IA, because i feel like it is a better product that is the underdog in the mainstream person's eye. I am ready for a new set-up because i down-sized to a 4 door honda civic from a larger SUV. I am looking for a single 12" subwoofer with good SPL that i can use in a daily driver application. I will be running the sub off of either a SAZ-1000d or the new SAX-1200d at either 1 ohm or 2ohms, whichever meets the subwoofer's specifications better. I am very interested in t…

Guess I better sign in here, since I already posted somewhere else first...oops. I have severe GAS(Gear Acquisition Syndrome).... Was MECP certified in High School. Installed throughout college, both home and car. Got out of the game in around 1998.... I collect mostly Zed, Orion, and Phoenix Gold amps...few others like the Alpine 3566, and the Denons with the funky heat sinks.... Also collect speakers...favorites are the JBL "1000watt" pro based drivers, and Orion carbon fibers. Would love to find some of the old Autotek subs....the ones with the BTS logo on the dust cap. I know they arent anything special(regular oem speakers), but just the fact I havent even seen one o…

Sup fellas. Figured I'd go ahead and introduce myself. Don't have a whole lot to say so I'll just talk a bit about my system. Currently have 2 dual 2ohm sa-12's. Powered by a crunch 1500.1. Bought this for 80 bucks when I upgraded from my previous system, so it's just temporary. Very soon I'll be purchasing a pair of saz-1500d's which I'm very excited about. I'm currently working on my electrical so I'll be ready for the monster amps. I also posted in the electrical section asking for some help on electrical.

Hello from Chicago to everyone on the forum! I have been reading different posts and build logs quite regularly in the last few months in order to gain the most amount of information as possible. I have been installing car audio since 1993, but I took sort of a hiatus for a number of years since I was in the Army and then college; although I did have had a couple of builds since moving to Chicago. I am just finally getting around to signing in…officially. I purchased some audio equipment quite a few months ago, but I am just finally getting around to installing in my new car…a 1998 Honda Civic… (I was hit by a hit and run-drunk driver last year, which totaled out my othe…

Soon I will be starting a new build on my 2003 Dodge Durango and thought it would a fun idea to post it here in the builds section. Thank You, Sean
