newbie from michigan here, just getting ready to start assmebling parts for my car which is a 2003 volkswagen gti. I am looking at an eclipse cd8455 headunit or clarion drx9675z right now backed with rainbow slc 265.25 comps up front and cdt m6+ mid bass rears. I am still undecided on amps and speakers right now though and looking for input

I stumbled on this forum and it looks like a good place to browse around and start getting new ideas for my tundra build. Looks like there is a lot of good info here, look forward to the knowledge on this forum

This will be my 3rd post in the Newbie section so I may venture out into the general forum population I think the best introduction may be what I am currently working with and were I hope to go. I have a Kenwood head unit, (the model evades me now but its on the way out the door as I bought a new double din today) The mids and highs come courtesy 6.5 and 6x9 Infinity Kappa Reference speakers powered by an Alpine 500 watt amp. What's up everyone? Just signed up and looking to get some insight on car audio after being out of the scene for a number of years. I currently have a Toyota FJ Cruiser with a Kenwood DNX8120 HU, Polk Audio SR6500 components, JL Audio co-axials for rear fill, 2-JL 10W3V3's in a Wicked C.A.S. enclosure, Dynamatted fron doors and rear quarters. I am anxiously awaiting the new Zed Leviathan for power.

I'm pretty new into the SPL world, and audio in general, so I'm not the smartest on the subject, but everyone has to start somewhere right? My first system was a cool concept. The box was built inside of the back seat. Sealed, had like .75 cubic ft of space. Was a Pioneer shallow mount 10". Blew that in a week. Went to a Memphis shallow mount 12", blew 7 of those and Memphis told me they wouldn't warranty them anymore. Then I went to a JL Audio 13tw5. Hi everyone, I am new to SSA, but been into car audio for years...anyone rember YAMAHA car audio......I now have a 17 year old son that has resurrected my interest and I have enjoyed helping him with his system, things have changed a lot in the years I have been away and the new technology is amazing....I rember when a 200 watt amp was considered huge and the price was around $600.. now you can get one for nothing....gotta love it!!!

You are a great person Scott and Fi BTL's are the best sub I have ever owned. I will never run another sub. I have had 2 other companys offer me free sponsorships since SBN. Yep...Santa did it this year: 2 x 18 Fi Bl -Dual 1, Cooling, Flatwind, Daily, Non-universal. Sundown Saz-3000d (thanks acex3a) 180max/135idle Iraggi alternator ~40' of 1/0 welding wire still need to get some 1/0 battery terminals and clamps for 1/0 big three and a new battery under the hood. dunno if I want to tackle the box this time around, might just have a shop do it. planning on doing ~15 cubes after displacement, and tuned to 32 or 33 hz. I know nothing about sound acoustics, and the effects of internal design. so plain jane rectangle is gonna have to jive for now.
