Finally signed up! Been lurking for awhile doing research for my next system. Currently stationed at Ft Huachuca for the army. Will be getting out early October and then returning home to PA. Still searching for the next vehicle but will have that squared away before getting home. This will be my second system. Last system was in a 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I decided to post my follow up thougts in a seperate thread about the Icon 12 I have now. Initially I had decided to install the sub in my commuter car and old honda accord. I have always had response issues with this car with some cancellation in the 60-80hz range. Being unhappy with how the icon sounded in this car I decided to go a different route. I decided to put a system in my Ram3500 truck. I bought a set of Alpine type r 6.5 components an Arc audio xdi 450 amp and used a pioneer double din that I already had. I am 49 years old and have been fooling with this stuff for over 30 years as an amateur. I recently built my best system yet. I'm not totally a noob, but I'm no expert either. Hey everyone... been into car stereos since i was about 17, am now 22, be 23 in april. worked at the circuit city roadshop when i was 18, learned how to do the basic installs and alarms. never got into custom stuff, but have done fairly large system installs in my day. I drive a 1996 Toyota Tacoma 2wd regular cab automatic, I have done everything myself, notched the frame, raised the gas tank, lowered, welded the roll pan, tailgate handle, antenna, hood squirters, put a 2004 front clip on(core support, everything), painted the truck myself also, it was my first time doing all of this. Hey ya'll, finally done enough lurking to (hopefully) not embarrass myself. I'm 27, from Yazoo MS, and own a Monument shop. That's right, tombstones. I've been into car audio since i was 10, and have been building race trucks/mud trucks since i was 14. I have the same problem that I imagine many people have when they first find SSA. I have had probably 25 complete systems, all done by me, but they were are common name brand/low end stuff. Lots of Pioneer, low level Rockford, etc. Even some Audiobahn. Just got 2 team 18's(dual 2's) and plan on putting either 2 bc5500's or one 'merica 12k on them for power. I want to do a flat wall but need a little help on what size box to use, i.e. cubic feet per sub, sq in per cube for port, aero or slot, and tuning frequency. Thanks in advance for the help! Oh and space is no issue as it's going in an Astro.
