so i've been wondering the different ways that users put security into their car. especially since there are usually $1000's in audio equipment sitting in there. alarms? park in garage? NRA sticker? Shatter Proof Glass? i'm just curious =] also, i hear about people getting insurance on their items so they can get fully refunded if stolen; any of you ever do anything like that? (i'm seriously considering it) thanks!

So I definitely was walking through the mall in Montgomery, Al yesterday and I spotted a guy wearing a white Fi Audio shirt..... It was quite a surprise after going to most of the local car audio shops and having them tell me Fi was some cheap brand that they didn't know about. So that at least makes 2 people that are aware of Fi in Montgomery Are there any others around the Montgomery area?

I just saved a bunch of money by switching to Geico, seriously, I have been with progressive since 1998 and their service has been great, but my re-newly policy just came through and because of a speeding ticket back in Feb 23, 2005, they wanted to jump my monthly insurance $120, but calling geico, which I thought I would never do, my monthly decreased $143, this is for both vehicles, and 35k-38k a year driving, masters, and no DWI's bringing my 6 month premium for a 4x4 SUV and 2 door lux car to $1319 yeah baby!!! YOU CAN DOOOO ETTTTT

It's from the Chithole, but it's well worth the read if you're in the mood for a good laugh ... This has had me literally laughing out loud all night ... Laughing so hard, in fact, that I had to force myself to stop laughing because I was in so much pain ... It's funny as it is now, but it was even funnier before the edits ... http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=177931

I am not sure if I mentioned it before, but something fun on the side I (well machines) have been doing is contributing to some distributed computing projects through BOINC. BOINC uses the unused CPU time on peoples personal machines, the most famous being SETI. SETI is based out of UC Berkley and is the most popular project. Some of the projects are very interesting and are quite important to science research and development, many dealing with protein folding, quantum mechanics, AI, bio-chem, deep space radio signals, and physics etc. The reason for this topic is a call for help for the team I am on > SETI.USA. For every work unit crunched by a team member, credi…

Hey gents, What cell service you guys use? I'm using Verizon and frankly I'm disgusted with the amount of cash I'm expected to fork over every month for my Blackberry service... regularly I'm paying $130 for ONE phone, 900 minutes. Isn't that ridiculous? Gettin' screwed pretty hard. Plus the Storm phone that I have I completely and utterly hate it's got so many problems both physically and with the software that I can barely use it anymore. Been checking into Boost Mobile.. they have a Blackberry plan (Curve 8330 phone), unlimited EVERYTHING, for $60 a month... a bit skeptical, I did some nosing around on the internet -- turns out they use *Sprint's* network (I have an …

Since I am paying my mom back for my car, she got the final say on which to get. I got a Mazda 6 Hatch in the gun metallic color. I will have to do some custom work soon to get a new HU in. It will cost me some cash to get a replacement deck area but it is worth it B) I will have some pics posted but not much since all i have is the car which i will have by tomorrow(they didn't have the color so they are dragging one over here)

For those just waking up, I was in the running for "System of the Month" (SOTM) over on the SMD forum. I called up upon my bothers here on SSA, quite a few actually, to lend their support and cast a vote for me. Well, quite a few of them did. Enough of them, as a matter of fact, to secure a win. I'd like to thank all of them for there support and generosity. Thank you. I'd also like to thank the community as a whole, for their support, in sight, and willingness to help out. A very big factor in helping me complete my "dream" build.

So at the end of summer 09' I bought my 18" BTL. The U.F.O. style magnet right? So it took me about 8 months to gather supplies and get it running and I loved it! i always told myself that if i found another one for sale for around $350 I'd buy it and say good-bye to my rear seats and hello to hearing loss! But I never really found one and about two months ago I decided I wanted to try something new! Expand my car audio experience! It sounded like a great plan so I sold the BTL and bought two SA-15's. built my box up, and besides me not having ports caused USPS screwed me, I'm bumping again! But guess what? In the past 3 weeks it seems like I've watched four U.F.O. style …

Some people probably think it's retarded, but I like picking up free or nearly free amplifiers, headunits, and subs that need some TLC and bringing back to life. Custom casing, engraving, etc. Not a business or anything, just a little hobby. If anyone is interested, I'll post some resurrections in this thread as time allows and as progress occurs. Picked up a Soundstream Granite 120.4 with blown output transistors for the 3rd and 4th channel, so I'm going to swap those out sometime next week and then kinda figure out what I'm gonna do with it lol. Also got a Zapco i-2100 that keeps going into protect, so I'll be working on that project too when I get a little time. …

I was on my way up towards Tucson, to continue to Pheonix for a competition tomorrow. I had some shimmy in my WHOLE CAR at 60. i stopped checked, everything seemed ok. Well i hit a curb on my back PASSENGER side tire. I thought it might be that so I turned around and went back. I wasn;t even 10 miles down I-10 Well I had a blowout and hit a VW............IRONICALLY ENOUGH the car was rented from the guy getting hit by a dude running a stop sign............Anyways, I spun sideways and side impacted him. and Stopped sideways on a 2 lane road. Climbed out the window cause the door wouldn't open. I shut off the car before hopping out. I got into the median (about 20 yards wi…

Dead. We've just learned Michael Jackson has died. He was 50. Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon at his Holmby Hills home and paramedics were unable to revive him. We're told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back. A source tells us Jackson was dead when paramedics arrived. A cardiologist at UCLA tells TMZ Jackson died of cardiac arrest. Once at the hospital, the staff tried to resuscitate him but he was completely unresponsive. We're told one of the staff members at Jackson's home called 911. La Toya ran in the hospital sobbing after Jackson was pronounced dead. Michael is survived by three children: Michael Jos…
