I like this newb guide, good job Scott. Is it possible to direct the new members to the post after registering ? Or even suggesting them to read ? Not all would read it, but it would get a bit more attention IMO.

  4. If the stuff on SSA's store is out of your price range, check out sonicelectronix.com they have a lot of the usual brand name stuff for pretty cheap. Not sure what your electrical is like or if you are planning to go over the 600w recommended rating, but last time I checked they had some older model Kicker 500w amps for 199 bucks. I was gonna grab one til I found a refurb sae1000d for 230 bucks, so obviously I went with the sundown.

If I trade for an amp I need something that is at least 2500 watts rms. This Audiopipe should be an easy fix, but I just dont have the time or money to do it.

sealed enclosure guessing? after just looking at a pic of your engine the alternator looks pretty easy to get to. So it should be relatively easy. just these three steps alternator to positive side on battery engine block to neg and neg to chassis

Its 4.5" LENGTH after the corner of the port. Not width. It's stilll 5" wide. Nice design! Not talking about the length that is given. 15.25" port wall + .75" for the second wall = 16" 20.5" of internal depth - 16" = 4.5" away from the rear wall. Not to mention if it was 5" from the back it would be tuned to 34hz

If you want lightweight, Baltic birch ply in 3/4" will be the same or less weight than a 1/2" mdf enclosure. Considering weight & SQ are your paramount issues, I would 1) Limit the enclosure material weight, obviously IB is best, small sealed 2nd, 2) Pick my driver based on what it can do, but also with enclosure size as part of the equation, 3) Limit the overall weight of the driver as this will make a HUGE impact on the overall weight. So what am I saying? I'd use a different sub and just a single one. That will give you more weight savings than looking at just the thickness of the enclosure. If you do use both, I would argue that you aren't that concerned with …

Interesting. You purposefully spin my question and then begin to argue against your own claim. A strawman at its "best." I asked whether the individual read the whole thread, as his comments did not follow what was already posted. There's a world of difference between that and your disingenuous assertion asking whether one can read. Too, if you can illustrate how I misrepresented a post, please do so. Just saying it is equivalent to blowing smoke. How does he know without listening to the setup in the car, as he as no idea as to the room gain and in-cabin response. Why do I feel like I'm repeating myself? Clearly, you've read my others posts and we still get this gem of…

OK I finally got them working but they sound like ass. Theyre Wired in 1 ohm according to a diagram i found online which should be 200watts(1k to each sub) and yet my 1000 watt ma audio amp between the two hit like twice as hard. I dont really have any idea what to do as far as adjusting an amp so any suggestions would be great
