Hey guys, I thought I’d drop a quick line and show you a project I was working on. This is a pretty basic build, nothing too special. All of these pictures are from inside of my house since I needed my amp to make final crossver adjustments if needed. I sold my Thiel CS 2.2's to fund this build. The drivers are: 8” Hi-Vi M8N magnesium/aluminum driver woofer, 3” Dayton dome mid, and Hi-Vi RT-1C planar tweeter. http://www.daberaudio.com/projectimages/back%20of%20drivers.jpg The crossovers are not yet soldered, but you can see the individual boards for the woofers, mids, and tweets. All parts are Jantzen, Dayton, and Mills. The cabinets are pretty sweet, though I …

I am going with the four tang bands because i could use them separately, in pairs etc should i want to try something different later on. It would also be easier to sell later. Will a deepcycle marine battery and a charger be sufficient? It should be way more than enough, especially as there will be less than two feet of wire between battery and amp. Edit: No more 100.4 in the SSA store I'm aiming for an AQ1200D. Same price; ~500w @ 4ohm, perfect. Double Edit: after a nap and a decent lunch, i've realized i am NOT going to spend $200 on speakers for a just for fun project. So, to spare my wallet the pain, i am going with (4) 6.5" Peerless woofers. Same everything e…

FIRST of all the amp itself has NOTHING directly to do with the number of DB's you can get. The amount of SPL you achieve has more to do with the driver, enclosure and their installation in relationship to the acoustics of the vehicle than the power you run. To say you saw in this forum that AMP CAN HIT XXX.X DB's is worthless to say. Now, if you're looking to get louder it's possible a re-tune of the port may help, moving the enclosure (not always possible) is another way to increase spl. Put a volt meter on the amp and watch your voltage, if it's dipping very much you may need to rethink your electrical. What we need is this: 1. Tuning of your enclosure. 2. Type of…

I want active because of passengers but i want the best soundstage for passive (for myself) in my budget ! Pick one or the other, read up on both and choose which one you want. Active will take more work and you probably wont get it right the first time but if you have a lot of time on your hands and patience to get it right then active is the way to go. Passive. But i want 4 speakers in total. 2 for me and 2 for rear.
