I need some pointers on how to begin my build. I have a 86 full size short bed chevy truck and there is no way I can get the kind of sound Im looking for with such little space behind the seat. I want to put the subs in the bed with a blow thru into the cab. Im not looking to compete in SPL or anything like that just want the kind of bass Im use to hearing (just sold my magnum and miss it already). Im running an Alpine CDA 9886 head unit and Kicker 3.5, 6.5 in the cab will be adding components soon. The problem Im having is Ive never tried this before and dont know what type of enclosure to use or what subs for that matter. Ive always stuck to mainstream subs like J…

I've heard a few subs make a funky sound when more power is applied to them that just doesn't sound like the bass the artist put in the song. On low volumes its fine. On higher volumes It sounds like the sub is puking. I hate that sound and i turn the bass down to when its gone. I've heard it mostly on punchy bass, long drawn out bass is usually fine. What causes this, is it when a sub exceeds its xmax or is that overrated in knowing what the sub sounds like as well? That's my only guess. I haven't heard lots of different subs but all the ones i heard did it.

  9. I personally love my SAZ-2000D. I think it's one of the better "2000" watt amps around. In the battery area, you would be happy with the HC2400 or the D3100. I plan on switching to all XS Power soon though, just all depends on preference. I'm looking to run high 15v daily, and I have seen the D3100's do this. So those are my choice. And I have never seen a "2600" they have a "2400" and a "3800". O_o In the Alt area, DC Power has show VERY promising things so far. And are also my alts of choice. I have noticed that the DC Power alts are slightly cheaper then the other big name company alts. I used Kicker 1/0 for my main run to the back, Fosgate 1/0 for my Big 3, and Weld…

I have one enclosure to finish this week if the customer is still willing to wait. I have recently started a job inspecting commodity grains, so I only have two days per week to do installs. Therefore I will only be able to build one enclosure per week. At the moment I have roughly 15 enclosure requests. Hopefully I will be able to get with these customers this week. If anyone has any questions and you can't get a hold of me. Post a thread here and if it is a common question like pricing(which I have posted) or a question about performance of a product, other members might be able to help before I am able to get back in touch with you. thanks, Quentin

  15. I know I have a car audio addiction when I have a hundred pounds of primo old-school gear coming from opposite ends of the country, and I've already changed my pland and know I probably won't be using any of it in my install. I know I have a car audio addiction when I buy four head units in a week because each one was way cooler than the last and too cheap to pass up, then realize I'll have a hard time outdoing the Addzest DRX9255 I've been hanging on to for the last year. Hey, at least I'll have choices. I know I have a car audio addiction when I finally score an Alpine 7909, then realize I won't be able to sleep at night knowing the poor old Alpine is a prime target for…

I would scrap hifonics personally. There is a sale on the Sundown SAE-1200D brand new, very good customre service and very underrated, check into them.

Need to replace my starting battery on a 1999 chevy s10 blazer.Whats a good replacement to keep up with around 1600 watts. It needs to be able to match up with a second battery in back if i decide to add one. If there is not a big deal i was just going to put in a die hard gold and be done, but want any imfo/help before spending money.

  20. Its going to be an everyday setup. I like the LOUD BOOM BOOM of SPL but really want it to hit well across the whole spectrum and clean. Im looking to spend up to 400-500 range for the amp, more if you all think that maybe needed but in that range if possible . I am going to do the big 3 in my car, but don't know enough about audio yet to figure out what i should get for the others.
