Test 1, 2, 3...

For as long as I've been in car audio (not long), sub break-in has been a topic I haven't had a clear answer in. My question is, what T/S parameters will change once the woofer has had adequate break-in time, that is if any change (this would make me think its a myth). I've heard that the Fs of the driver lowers because the spider(s) loosen up, and if that is true would it also affect Qms of the driver? The reason I ask this question is regarding the Maw 15, would the break-in of this woofer affect which enclosure to stick it in? I have a Mj18 4ohm being pushed by a fosgate amp around 500w. yesterday it just quit working. i took it out and hooked it up to another amp it worked fine. ive also disconnected and reconnected every wire and changed all the fuses blown or not. It is still not working. any clue on what it could be?

damnit...i modeled the IB15 in a 16 cu ft. sealed enclosure on BBP6 and it looked really really good...very flat, no peaks or dips and a very mellow roll off with an -3db point right around 20 hz it doesn't model much different from having 160 cu ft of airspace at all...a slightly lower f3 could i just do the IB15 in a big sealed enclosure and still benefit from the advantages of an IB install? but Robert...seriously? sounds like you will have a bangin' sub set up when you are done! i hope to see a build from you in the near future!

The Konaki hybrid will provide a good response sealed OR ported. The TC-9 based sub would make a good burp sub tuned relatively high. Haven't built anything in a few months, so I've got the itch. Decided I want to do an MJ18 to add to my set up in the gym. Simple 2 channel set up with some Klipsch Legends and a Denon receiver that mostly plays 80's metal or 80's old school/dance stuff to get me fired up. Looks like 4.5^3 @ 30Hz is pretty popular for music, so that's what I plan on doing. Don't need any low freq stuff, just some nice punch for kick drums, etc... Box will be slot ported and downfiring and will also have a TV stand built on top of it, so it's functional. I'm used to building car boxes and normally do 12" of port area per cube of box. How much port area do I need for the MJ in a 4.5^3 box…

Hey guys i got my SPL12 in today sorry i wont have pics till the morning but its going in a Jeep liberty powered by a Kicker zx2500.1 in 3cubes tuned around 38hz. I really wanted to try this sub and see if its a little more bearably for daily use then my DD9512f. As soon as iam done with the install i should have pics and a vid or too.

ok here you go I have two 12" Power Acoustik Mofo on a Ma Audio HK2000d the box is h 17" w 40" d 20.5. Now this is the space I have to work with h 21" w 46.5 d 22-28". Pease help with a box dimension for 18". I am looking at the Lms, fi and re subs. I would to set up spl with good clean sound. I have pictures will post later of the back of the truck. I need some advice on what subs to get and box dimension.

I was wondering if I could get the specs on the MAW12. What ft^3 do they like ? What would be a nice daily tune? Port area? Port width? PVC or slot port? I plan on putting this in the trunk of my Prizm... sealing off the trunk, folding down the rear seat and firing the sub in to the cabin. Should the port fire into the cabin also? I'm working with a height of 14" and roughly a width of 28". Also what amp would you suggest for this set up? I was looking at the Hifonics TXi 4006, but to be honest this I still dont fully understand all the varibles that go into audio. TIA

I was just wondering if anyone knew of any good car audio shops in Ohio (Columbus would be best) that have worked with Fi audio before and could do a custom wall for 2 12" BTLs and probably 2 TD20001 r/f amps. I like competing in meca's car shows (SPL) and i don't think i should do the box like originally was going to. Thanks

So my friend with an 04 Ion RL wants a sub, and he wants it to fit in a sonotube, and have a pair of PVC ports come out the back, and along the bottom. We'll router out end plates that will act as supports for the sonotube/port, giving it a nice, finished kinda look. As for box sizes, the max we can fit is about 24" depth, which gives me about 1.4cf net driver volume. 4" PVC ports of course. 400 watts RMS off a JL e1400 amp. I'm thinking about tuning it to 35hz, which gives me a good balance between low end extension, bump, and port length (my biggest enemy right now, at 35hz they need to be 33" long). Anybody else have experience with these subs ported? Thanks

Im not sure if this has been asked or not, so if it has sorry. Are there any plans to build this? The 12 seems like a damn good deal of a sub, and a 15 would be even better. Only reason I asked is its late here and Im curious, lol.

a lot of these are dual voice coil if using both voice coils, is the wattage is doubled? eg maw-12 , 350 + 350 = 700 if both voice coils used ? or are they 125 + 125 = 350? or does it not matter if u use one or two voice coils = 350 all ways ?
