Hi soundsolutions it has been a while. Life has kept me extremely busy with school and work and not to mention I now have a baby girl on the way. I had a SSD 15" and a zx750 and I ended up selling the sub for rims and traded the 750 for a t-1000 which ended up toasting itself somehow.. long story short I have nothing.. I really don't want to spend more than $300 for the sub(s) and amp because I am strapped for cash and I just want some kind of low end nothing crazy. Size is somewhat of a issue, the 15 took up my whole trunk and I can't afford not to have trunk space anymore so a single 10" or 12" with like 4-500rms would be optimal. I will be building the box myself depen…

I have the almost perfect exact dimensions for it: W: 37.1875 H: 17.25 Top depth: 15.4375 bottom d is same as top wood thick: .75 port h: 15.75 port w: 3.1875 port l 1: 11.5 port l 2: 4.5625 box vol: 3.9 (ft3) I'm borrowing it from a friend for my Fi BL, so i have no idea what it would be tuned to, but i got all the dimensions Also, based on everything, what should i set my amp levels to for it? I have this picture that someone suggested i use for my chit, but my sub doesn't hit hardly with these settings Something else i don't get is, the screw is one long line and one shorter line, which is suppose to line up with these arrows?

Can a line out converter cause distortion in the system? The reason I ask is because I have some of the ED EHQS 12's and I hooked a 12 up to my brothers system in a 2 cube sealed box on a RF P3001, on 400 watts, and it sounded clean and got pretty loud. But just now I hooked the same sub up to my girlfriend's system also a 2 cube sealed box on Diamond 400.1, @ 2 ohm only 200 watts, and the sub is bottoming out in her setup. My brother has an aftermarket pioneer HU and my girlfriend is running off of a converter and her stock Pioneer HU, she has a Scion TC. Could the sub be bottoming out now because it is off of a stock HU and converter, does that cause a dirty signal?

I think I finally decided on a set up. Please tell me if this is optimal for my situation or if im going overboard. The car is a bmw 5 series, the sub will be in the trunk. The trunks tend to be sealed very well in these cars so I need the sub to penetrate. I listen to mainly hippity hop and rap. I want the best of both worlds trunk space left and good sound. 10" ICON ported box probably built to specs of the optimal one in the tech section sax1200d what do you guys think. The only thing I was thinking to change was to go with a cheaper amp. Any reccomendations?

I'm looking for a 2 channel that I can run with the passive crossovers. I'd prefer something thats pretty efficient, don't need any crossovers or anything like that on it, because I'm just using the passive crossovers. And if I ever decide to go active, I ca…

I should have no problems with BASS. But I`m worried about Mid Bass - punchyness. I do not want to use huge door builds & they will never sound right anyway. So I plan to use 4x 10" or 8" subs. To help the system sound better / seem more punchy - quick I`ll be feeding them about 250wrms each. So should I do this or what`s the best way to do it? BTW: I`m aiming for the system to play music @ 150dB+ 16 Cu.Ft. Box. Ported using 4x S.I. 15" Magnums. Thanks guys.

Sarasota, Florida is now the most costly place in Florida to have a loud car stereo system. with a new law that gives police the authority to impound cars if they can hear the tunes from 25 feet away there will be no first time offender warning in my freaking city no, first-time offenders face a $74 fine for violating the city's noise ordinance, and a $125 towing fee to get their vehicles out of the impound yard. Better be careful with my new city. Gotta love the stupid old people in my state. Not that I'm not courteous at night hours and stop lights but wow. "get out of my state and go die somewhere else we don't want you" VCPR vice city public radio quote from GTA.

Question. Do passive crossovers need space for cooling? Reason, I am tired of the HD crossovers being behind the seat. I have seen other installs in the same make and model as my truck with the crossovers mounted on the door between the sheet metal and the door panel. Does or has anyone ran into any problems in this area? Thanks, Justin Example of what I am thinking of doing. http://www.icixsound.com/vb/showthread.php?t=11586

My dad's friend recently asked me to help build him a system after hearing a previous setup I had and decided he wanted something as well. His budget is around $1300-1400 and wants to incorporate an in dash dvd, no need for nav, but with touch screen, BT, and IPOD capabilities. He drives a 2009 Ford Lariat F 150 and would like to keep customization minimal and realiability high. He primarily listens to country, oldies, classic rock, blues, and jazz. He doesn't necessarily require a large amount of bass, I guess just enough to add more depth. So a daily driver car but no means will it be an SQ or SPL car, he does not have much exposure to the field so I won't need to …

More and more lately I see more and more ROE members, most that are 15-21 that have probably never owned used or seen halfway decent equipment giving advice on which sub is better or amp, box etc. And the people asking these questions are honestly looking for an honest answer from someone knowledgeable that has either use seen or has worked with "x" product. I just see WAY too much this sub sucks or this is better when they've probable never heard seen or used any.. sorry to rant just my 2 cents... Joe...

I put some in the hatch area of my car (97 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport) today and down in the spare wheel area but that's about as far as I got because I was getting too hot and hungry. I'll work on the rear doors and back seat area next week, then work my way forward from there. After I got cleaned up I drove down the road for some ice cream and maybe it's just the CD I put in (the new Big & Rich) but the subs kind of sounded... softer? But I also think they were a little cleaner sounding. Is that normal? Is that one of the properties of sound dampening? I guess I was expecting an opposite result, thinking it would focus more of the sound towards me. I prima…

I am putting a new system in my girls car and was thinking about using some plexiglass on a sealed system. My question is though, how does this affect the sound? I have seen plenty of systems in magazines using plexiglass but never heard one, does it have an impact on the way it sounds or no.

So I have been doing the car stereo thing for about 6 years, even having won several competitions but have never even considered impedance rise when building cabinets and I just wanted to get some info on this phenomena. I understand that it boils down to the size/shape/style of the box and any obstructions such as wires, braces, etc. 1. how can I test my setup to find my impedance rise? 2. can impedance rise be combated by wiring below rated amplifier impedance? 3. are there any build orientations that are more resistant to this? (sub/port firing back; sub firing up/port back; etc.) I am installing in a 2004 pontiac grand prix and a 2008 ford escape, any info will be gre…

I am new to this forum and I am in need of some input. My goal is an somewhat simple SQ focused system and I feel like I have a good start with the equipment that I have but I would like to know if I am missing anything or I'd there is anything I could add to it that would help me reach my goal. I have been out of the scene for a while so my approach is somewhat basic and I don't know if technology exists that could really compliment my current setup. Understand these components have yet to be installed so from a first hand standpoint I am not sure it's even missing anything at all. Front stage: Boston Acoustics SPZ 60's with their upstage tweets in the A pillars Sub: Bos…

I really hate to even ask, but are there any good subwoofer grille recommendations? I use my trunk pretty often, and even with my current sub I get nervous about things rubbing up against it, or worse. As much as I dont want to cover up the Icon sub I ordered, I also dont want to ruin it, especially since I'll be packing my trunk full with an upcoming road trip. Any grille suggestions?

Hmm....after posting this I realized that my topic description sounds like a pirate. But, anyways.....help me decide what to do with my stereo...LOL. I can't decide if I want go with an active 3-way DIY frontstage consisting of Coustic Design Reference & Vifa speakers, or go simple with a pair of Memphis Sync8's On the one hand, I really like the sound of my DR 7's when I was running them with my horns. But, likewise, the Sync8's are responsible for many World Championships in SQ comps, and I do really like the sound of audiolife's Sync 5.25's. Plus the installation and setup with the Sync's would be much easier and simpler and would allow me to use my external d…
