i started a thread awhile back for my bro but plans have changed and his financial situation has improved so im back again. budget is 1000 bucks for equipment and materials. these are some of the things he's looking for; crisp clean sound upfront solid bass without taking up much room quality equipment (he wont buy anything secondhand) car is an 04 nissan sentra, (base model ) left over equipment from his previous build are just subwoofer amp, but no sub (his l7 got fucked...) and some wiring. unfortunately they didn't get the set of pg rsd's out either i've considered two basic systems, the first with a passive front stage and the second with a active front stage. thi…

As the subject says I have blown one of my JBL mids. Does anyone know if I could by just the mids or possibly send the one I blew back to JBL for a repair. I have never delt with JBL so I don't know if they ever offer something like that. I am very pleased with the mids and don't feel like replacing the complete component system.

I hope that I am posting this in the right place. I have 2006 Honda Odyssey EX that has the 6 CD changer and XM capable stereo. I have heard that it may be possible to connect a device that will allow me to "hard wire" my iPod, using that XM connection. Can anyone tell me exactly what I would need to make this happen? I am not looking for anything fancy really, just to be able to use my iPod without using an FM transmitter. I don't know jack about car audio, but I have a friend who says he can help me install it once we find the exact right part. Can anyone help me? PK

So I have had my SSD hooked up on my zx750 now for about 3 months and I love it to death it sounds amazing and all the kids up at the high school chit bricks when they hear it. I'm guessing I'm hitting in the low 30's on TL. AND I FINALLY FIXED THE RATTLING!!! But I want a bit more, it would cost around $1000 dollars if I sell my SSD&amp for $500. I'm thinking cut out the upper trunk railings so I can fit a 5cuft box in my trunk instead of a 3.5cuft box (1) Fi BTL 15 fully loaded (1) 2k-2500rms amp (possibly sundown2000 when it comes out) 1 run of 0 gauge, 8 gauge speaker wire And obviously some batteries, not too sure on which ones and how many I'm going to need(sugg…

well it looks like it'll be awhile before i get a 12 for the grand am, some issues came up and i won't have money for awhile. so untill then i decided to make a box for the atlas to get the most out of it. right now its in a 2.5cf sealed box with 1 pound of pollyfill, it gets decently loud and low but i need more. heres my dilema though after i get a new sub im gonna make the atlas an HT sub so i need an enclosure that will play low well. so i was thinking either going with a 4cf "regular" ported box tuned to 30hz or have someone design me a t-line. my only worry is how will a t-line work in a trunk car and how much space would i have to give. max i would be able to fit …

  10. So..... I recently Installed a new headunit into my car and I had a Sundown SAE-1200D hooked up to it. The headunit was an Alpine iDA-X200 and it worked fine for a couple hours. Then this weird popping noise kept happening..... After a couple more hours this noise was so bad that the amp kept going into protection. No matter what head-unit or amp I use the same thing happens and I have no idea what the FUCK is going on!!!!! Also, the headunit works fine with out the RCA cables and can play other peoples systems through the RCA cable when wired into my car and the amp can also play when hooked up directly to an I-POD. PLEASE HELP!

reading the hoffman's iron law sticky, and have some questions. low end extension, high efficiency, or small enclosure size i know you have to chose two. and im looking at: low end and small enclosure how does the tuning and port area affect this? does it mean i need more port and a higher tuning? also assuming more power will be needed?

My setup for the next season will include: 2 Kicker zx 2500.1 amplifiers wired @ 2 ohm each 2 AudioQue HDC3 12s, d1 vcs Northstar NSB 90 in stock location. 200 amp Alternator, rebuilt intown. I have a box design that I got directly from Steven Sears, whom is the Team Captain of Team High X-cursion. He told me he had someone on his team with 3 10s hitting in the 150s the TL in a Grand Am, and yes I have a Grand Am. He is very knowledgable on trunk vehicles. I plan to only use both kicker amplifiers during shows, and one for daily on a 4 ohm load. I will be selling my 2 audioque sd8s, and when my American Bass 120.1 gets back from being serviced it will be for sale as well…

Today on the ride home from work I was streaming Pandora through my head unit with my Galaxy S4 via aux jack when all speakers but the front left and subs quit playing. I tried music stored on my phone and everything went back to normal. 1st thought was an app issue with Pandora, so I tried Slacker and got the same results. Back to the stored music.... fine again. I then tried streaming both apps through Bluetooth and everything played fine. Wtf could cause this??? If it was a problem within the phone or aux cable, shouldn't the stored music do the same?

My friend has been having some system problems. At higher volumes his system would completely shut down. The headunit would turn off and then come back on. His volt meter has never dipped much below 13 volts. He has an alpine headunit with a kenwood mono amp and alpine sub. Any ideas and what is causing this or what could be done to figure it out?
