i just finished downgrading my system in preparation to sell my car and i just wanted to check and make sure i had everything setup correctly i am running an older pioneer hu, planet audio 6.5" torq speakers in the doors and rear deck, an eclipse 10" single 4-ohm subwoofer, and an american pro bass machine 800w 4-ch amplifier i am running the amp in 3-ch mode with the pa speakers running in parallel, then in series, i wanted to verify i did this correctly. i ran the left front and rear speakers with a positive from one and a negative from the other hooked together, same with the right front and rear. then i hooked the remaining positives together and the remaining negativ…

  2. temporary setup consists of a pioneer 880 that ive had for years and never had a problem with, never had to do the ghetto "grounding the RCA's" thing, etc. knu konceptz RCA's that ive never had trouble with either. well i took out my mtx 2ch amp the other day to cover the back of the wall in the MINI. it was working when i took it out. i put it back in last night becuase i was driving around with no music, and i turn on the radio and theres like a loud kind of static noise and a little clicking out of both speakers. i start the engine and theres a chit TON of engine noise. sounds like my speakers are turbo'd or something lol. i mean its LOUD. im like chit, the mtx amp fin…

Can someone help? Like a how to with doors. Do you spray the inside of the door and cover the holes with that rubber matt type stuff? Do you use it on your fire-wall as well as all over? What about that foam stuff to fill up holes? Is it a good idea? OR spray cans of deading spray? I would love a good writeup from someone that can help and mabe everyone can add some things and we make it a sticky? Thanks guys!

I am putting a new system in my girls car and was thinking about using some plexiglass on a sealed system. My question is though, how does this affect the sound? I have seen plenty of systems in magazines using plexiglass but never heard one, does it have an impact on the way it sounds or no.

alrighty, im gonna be making my box soon for my single cab truck. the dementions are (L)36" x (H)27" x (D1)3" x (D2)9". That is cutting it realy close because its 2.291 cubic feet. im going to run 2 kicker 12" compVR's which need 1 cubic foot at a minimum. im making it sealed so i have to make the two chambers, so will that 3/4" wood in between the subs reduce the volume to less than 1 cubic foot?? also, that is going to be right up next to my seat and i can't move it anymore closer (i'll be kissing the wheel) do i have to change the depth so it won't hit my seat???

I have a Sirius satellite radio, that the plug/transformer end of the powercord for it, no longer works. I want to wire it directly into the car. However, the transformer steps the current down to 5.2v/1.5a. My question....based on a system that puts out 14+ volts, what size resister would I need in order to correctly stepdown the power going to the radio? My biggest concern here is frying the radio itself.

I need some pointers on how to begin my build. I have a 86 full size short bed chevy truck and there is no way I can get the kind of sound Im looking for with such little space behind the seat. I want to put the subs in the bed with a blow thru into the cab. Im not looking to compete in SPL or anything like that just want the kind of bass Im use to hearing (just sold my magnum and miss it already). Im running an Alpine CDA 9886 head unit and Kicker 3.5, 6.5 in the cab will be adding components soon. The problem Im having is Ive never tried this before and dont know what type of enclosure to use or what subs for that matter. Ive always stuck to mainstream subs like JL, Kic…

I have a low budget and found a deal on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=350193519262 it comes with 2 10" subs in a box and an amp for $170 obviously i know that these arent going to be the best subs, but i dont plan on playing my music mind-numbingly loud. Just loud enough to get some crisp base thumping. Ive never bought or had subs in my car before. let me know how the specs of the subs and amp stack up, and if theyre worth the price. -thanks!

  18. So I sold my system and vehicle about 2.5 years ago for a Infiniti G37S Sedan with the factory Bose system. It's been holding well, but I got the urge for some bass recently. I know what i want to do, just not sure on equipment. Amp will be integrated with stock system using Bose amp inputs in the trunk. The factory IB 10" will be removed from the rear deck. I will build a box for the trunk, ~1.25-1.5cubes @33Hz. Electrical will stay factory, 4Ga wire. I am not trying to spend too much here, maybe $225-$275 for a decent 10" and amp. I have looked at some cheaper stuff such as RE SE-X for like $119 and a cheap planet audio amp that should be good for ~600rms for $100. S…

I maybe getting a 12" JL W7 which the guy is asking $350 for the sub. I will listen to it before I buy it, but is there anything in particular that JL W7's have problems with that I should be aware of? Next question, I have a Cadence ZRS-8 amp. Will this amp be ok running the W7, because I think I read that they're a 3 ohm sub? Here are my amp specs. 4 Ohm Competition Rating: 50W x 1 2 Ohm RMS Power: 750 Watts x 1 1 Ohm RMS Power: 1500 Watts x 1

Is this feasible? Since I will be running sealed to get my backseats back I'm running out of room. need to place a crescendo bc5500 and 1100.4 in my Xb somewhere. Was thinking of building a compartment in the hatch door itself to put the 1100.4. I know running 4 sets of speaker wires along with the 4g power wires will take some time but is this a possibility? Or am I asking for a headache.

Sold my Sundown Audio SA-10's and looking at upgrading to a single 12" or 15" SSA Zcon. Not sure I can fit 4 cubes for the 15, but can probably fit in 3 cubes. What would be louder, the 12" be in 2.5 cubes or the 15" in 3 cubes? Either sub would be ran off a Sundown Audio saz2500d.
