  4. Started by CadillacMatt,

*sigh* So those of you who have been following my build know I'm knee-deep in my door pod project. My initial goal was to create a front stage that was pleasing to listen to, had accurate imaging and soundstaging, and produced good volume. So after trying all different combinations of mounting locations, gain adjustments, balance shifts, attenuations, and equalizations, the best solution I came up with was mids in door, crossfiring, and tweets in sail (attenuated away from the driver). It produced no soundstage to speak of but it sounds decent. So after disconnecting my new fronts to finish the pods, I hook up my old Kenwood 2-ways on the rear deck (facing upwards) so I'l…

  6. hey guys i have a 1997 f150 single cab with a 95A alternator. i think im going to get for my front stage Rockford Fosgate T1572C coaxial 5x7 and i am only going to use 2 and get rid of the back to stock speakers. I am going to run them off of the sundown 100.2 amp. For my sub i am going to get a FI Q and put it in a ported box and run it off of a sundown saz 1000 d amp. I am also going to do the big three, and for sound deadening i am going to use secondskin Damplifier. My questions are what do u guys think on that set up idea? anyflaws or suggestions u would liek to add? and i am wondering wat different gauge wire's i should use for everything? I also need some ideas for…

Is 12gauge speaker wire sufficient for running a saz-1500d to sa12s. I'll be running the amp at 1ohm. Speaker wire is about 4feet in length. If it can't handle that much power then can I just double it up and run two strands for each positive and another two for the negative.

Need to replace my starting battery on a 1999 chevy s10 blazer.Whats a good replacement to keep up with around 1600 watts. It needs to be able to match up with a second battery in back if i decide to add one. If there is not a big deal i was just going to put in a die hard gold and be done, but want any imfo/help before spending money.

  12. Ok so i have a 10" JL w3v3 4ohm driver and a cheapo pioneer amp( i know i know moneys tight) So i hooked this all in my 05 ranger with a Kenwood Excelon deck. I have 2ga welding wire for ALL hot and cold connections. I did the big 3 except for the engine ground for Now. I tossed my cap out as it didnt help and read alot of bad ju ju about them. I get dimming light as do most on Hard bass hits whenthe amp is at +6db's and the deck is at 5 to 15db's. I want to know if i should invest in a second battery (xs power or kinetick) or swap the stock battery out for a better one?? Otherwise i thought about just getting a H/O alternator.? I just have a general question about current draw. I am seriously concidering jumping on the 2000d presale and was wondering if it puts out 300 amps max current draw at 1 ohm, what will the nominal and max draw be at 2 ohms. Is there a mathmatical formula I can plug numbers in? I plan on running 2 2000d's at 2 ohms each since i have 2 dual 4 12's. Thanks guys, I still love this forum.

I'm sure there are a ton of these posts, but I figured I'd throw mine out there and get some insight. Kinetik HC1400 JVC El Kameleon 12" AA Havoc Sundown 1500D Clarion DPX2251 DLS Ultimate UP6i RaaMmat BXT I mainly listen to rock/metal, and I need to have high volume levels with as little distortion as possible. The thing I'm concerned about the most is the 'DLS' speakers. As far as I've searched, (just about everywhere,) they've gotten rave reviews. My prior selection was a set of Focal 165KRX2's, so the DLS setup is a huge drop in price. The cost isn't all that big of a deal, but it does play a factor. Any constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated. However, i…

Has anybody used the Cascade stuff from PE? http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cf...tnumber=268-250 I am thinking about spraying the inside of my box with it. Just curious if it works well or if I should even use it? I would like to be 110% sure it is sealed and get rid of any resonances that might exist. What do you think?

I picked up a pair of Xplode 10" subs on Friday for $15 Anyone have any specs for a box that will make these tolerable? I have 100wrms to go to each, it's in a college dorm. I have them isobaric on a bazooka tube for now, and it's okay, but drops real quiet below 40hz. I don't need it loud, just low. Note: I know, they're sonys.

I posted this over on the Mach 5 Audio section, too. Some short videoes of my 6th order wall in my Jeep. Two Mach 5 SPL 15's and an American Bass XD1800, so not a whole lot of power. My Powerbass XA3000D is in for repair. Still have a lot of tweaking and testing to get this build running full tilt. Thanks for the views! Right now I'm talking to my dad about a system for our boat. We have a Yamaha AR230. He wants a whole new system. He wants new speakers to fill the orginal spots. Then he wants bass. He was looking at JL audio, but I told him not to get that, because it's too expensive for what he wants. I don't think he would really tell the difference between JL and something else. I want to get him some subs and amps from the VVME website. I know they're not the best subs, but they're cheap and will get the job done for what he wants. Warm weather is almost here for us, so we're going to get the boat back soon. I havent really measured what space he has, but I'm pretty sure it will…
