I was going to listen to my system the other day, and i turned it on when it was just about to hit it kinda shut off and started making a weird noise. Kinda high pitched noise. I took the sub out and brought to another car an ran it free air so that wasn't it. Same with the amp. I replaced the auxiliary wires and it started to work on a low level. so i turned it up just a little bit. Like up 2. Hooked it back up.(keep in mind this is back in my car running free air to see if its going to work before i put it all back together) and then it sparked and stopped working again. I have a 18" fi Bl, It was hooked up to my buddies sundown saz-1500d, and my Pioneer avh5000dvd head…

(just to stir a little traffic) today, i will be building a box to go in a x-cab ranger that will hold three memphis pr12's. it will be a shared chamber 6ft^3, with 62.5in^2 of port and tuned to 35hz. these will be pushed by a mtx 1501d bieng shown 2.6 ohms (the subs are dual4, will be series, parallel), so i'm guess around 1000-1200 wrms. i've already replaced all four factory speakers with memphis pr5x8's (major improvement) being pushed by a rf 100a2(yep, the 5x8's are bridged left and right side [they are 4 ohm] so no fade) all being directed by a eclipse h/u. i'll get the model number tomorrow. pics either sunday night or monday night. now, my silverado will be losin…

I was giving a friend a demo, nothing outrageous, basically just how I listen to it daily. In the middle of it, the bass got real quiet... I look back and I saw one (didn't see the other) sub was going crazy excursion. I start to smell a very bad burning smell coming, like big time, so something definitely happened. I check the amp, it's not hot, nor is smoke coming out, and the smell isn't really coming from the amp. I get home, my amp is sitting at 1.9 ohms (usually always .7 ohm), then check my subs: Coil 1&2: 1. imp was fluctuating like crazy 2. Coil was jumping a little between 1.7 to 1.9. Coil 3&4: 3. imp was fluctuating like crazy. 4. Couldn't even get …

Hello guys, just to let you know some scores with SSA subs this week end. A friend of mine did 145.2 dbs at 44 Hz IIRC, with 2 Xcon 15" on 4 saz1000 amps. It was his first time metering on a Termlab. Sensor on the windshield, on the right side. He was very pleased with that score, for a non spl setup. His box is 4 ft3 per sub, tuned to 30 Hz. Another one did 140.1 with an SSA Icon 15" in a 3.5 ft3 box tuned to 32 Hz.. The amp was a Digital Design M1 (I think so). The spl record for the week end is 150.something. But with a "pure" spl setup : wall, no mids&highs ! I don't know what subs and what amps were playing. I'll try to meter my car soon. I know a guy with a Te…

  7. So I've been listening for leaks in my new sealed box and browsing through stuff that I haven't heard in a while. A song that I've heard countless times before, Dread Rock (Paul Oakenfold, Matrix soundtrack) literally made me jump out of my seat when it hit a certain note that I've never heard before. I've had a small sealed enclosure with my single RL-i8, but it never hit sounds like this. I guess it really proves that it's all about the box... although I'm sure adding another RL-i8 (and lowering the impedance to 4ohms in the process) didn't hurt. Obviously, there are SPL setups that make the listener almost lose control of their bodily functions. I'm more interested…

Ok just wondering if anyone knew a song that will play 30hz or close to it for 30+ seconds. My friend needs one for meca drive by and being that many people do bassrace or similar thought someone might know. The song needs to be a constant note and not fluctuate between notes. Thanks

This song is really old but it still pounds harder than most songs this day!! I discovered it around 08' and alot of people still dont know about it so Im going 2 bring it to life! Its called "Drug Money" by Lil burn. You can find it on youtube.com (Theirs also a screwed version 2) But I mainly recommend people to play this with good subs and mainly subs thats tuned low like 30hz or below (Unless your subs still hit lows good) this song basically plays ground shakin lows!! Check out this vid. Tell me what u think, And If you guys need anymore good bass song hmu.

Has anyone ordered from Sonic or Online Car Stereo? Are these companies legit? What I was specifically looking at was a newer Pioneer 5700 DVD. The prices are sweet and are about $130.00 less than Crutchfield. Just wanting to know if anyone has any experience with these companies???

Hi ladiess and gents, I have been thinking about my next subwoofer enclosure. To be a little different and it sounds to be a fun project, I wanna try and build a sonotube enclosure. Has anyone here had any experiance with them, good or bad? I also scoured the web and I can't seem to find prices or anywhere that sells sonotubes by the foot. Are there other names they go by? I am getting an 18 nightshade so there will be bracing and all that stuff. I'm looking to get a 24 inch dia. tube to keep the length down. Thanks.

I put some in the hatch area of my car (97 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport) today and down in the spare wheel area but that's about as far as I got because I was getting too hot and hungry. I'll work on the rear doors and back seat area next week, then work my way forward from there. After I got cleaned up I drove down the road for some ice cream and maybe it's just the CD I put in (the new Big & Rich) but the subs kind of sounded... softer? But I also think they were a little cleaner sounding. Is that normal? Is that one of the properties of sound dampening? I guess I was expecting an opposite result, thinking it would focus more of the sound towards me. I prima…

  22. Has anyone used anything other than the popular Second Skin, Raamat, etc....closed and open cell products with great results. I googled this topic and found several companies proving a wide range of products that have similar claims and prices that vary from the prices on popular car audio products both ways. Just curious. I'm thinking I may try something new.

Ok so I get spiffs at my job when I sell certain products and I got some AMex gift card to spend. The bad thing is I can only use them at certain places. As far as anything car audio I can use these cards at Best Buy, Crutchfield, and from Amazon.cm. Looking around Amazon, I have found a few deadener products and would like to hear thoughts on these. Here is what I can find so please let me know if you have ever used this and would recommend any of it.
