Anyone else going? Two of us from Audio Junkies will be there all day Sunday. I'm sure I'll see a bunch of the Fi guys there. If anyone is going to be there competing, give me a shout and I'll be sure to get some pictures for you.

Only thing I'm keeping from my current stock is my amp which is a PPI PCX 2200. Price range 600-700 Type of music: Hiphop/ R&B Car: 1997 bmw with the fold down seats. Completely starting over with your advice since I can't do it right on my own. Thanks in advance.

This is going in a show car. Right now I am leaning towards sealed cause they can be made to look so much nicer and still sound good. It needs to get really loud, but will probably never see a car audio competition. If this poll doesnt work, i give up.

I've been out of car audio for a long time and I need some help choosing new components. I already have speakers, subs and amps so this is just for source components and processors. I'm looking for affordable but nice-sounding products. The one thing I absolutely don't want is harsh-sounding electronics. I want a H/U with CD, DVD, FM, HD radio, and digital output. The only thing that must be built into the face is CD. For the sake of economy, the H/U doesn't need a built-in screen but, if it does, I want a touch screen with nice controls. The DVD is actually a future upgrade (maybe) and will have a larger separate screen. I prefer that the H/U not have built-in amps …

Okay I got my Damplifier. And I couldnt be any more pleased with it. So I did my Entire TRunk Lid. With more layers of Damp. Where there were rattles. I put it in the hole where the spare tire goes and around the floor of the trunk and a little on walls. So After Applying I still heard a rattle but it was from under the car. So I crawled under and found the rattle. It was on this square metal piece directly under where the spare tire goes. So I degreased it and Slapped 2 layers on that piece. It cut the rattle out quite a bit. So I cranked up the bass to listen for more rattles. I heard a rattle still under the car. Not loud but you can really tell its there. So I crawled…

These are what I am currently debating to put in a Dodge Charger SRT. It will be made into a show car, so the way it sounds is very important. but it is not meant mearly for competitions. All of them will be set up nicely with plexiglass and such, much like what can be seen magazines like Performance Sound and Auto.

A couple of times this week I noticed, at first smell, what seemed to be the odor of cigarette smoke in my 4Runner. Although I just bought this vehicle a few months ago, neither I nor the previous owners are smokers. When I arrived at work this morning I detected the odor again. It occurred to me that I'd been playing NiN particularly loud this morning, so I checked the amps and sub. Both of the amps were very warm but not too hot to touch. The smell definitely seemed to originate from the RL-i8 in the T-Box. Considering that the gain on my SAE-1500D prototype isn't even half-way (gain goes to 8v, my HU output is 4v), I hadn't expected to approach the point of clippi…

ok well im in a bit of a tight squeeze. My car is old and i am unsure how long it will be running for, it might go for a year it might go for 7 more i dont know. So i am looking at cutting my old alt out of the question and putting a battery bank, well sort of in the trunk of my car. Im looking into prices and i could get 2 red top batts from wally world for the price of one g31 yellow top. The red tops are about 800cca, g35 i believe, where as the g31 is 1000+cca. now my question is which is the better alternative. running 2 batts i was thinking would help keep the voltage up but i am unsure of this because i know nothing about batterys. Or the other alternative is i cou…

I'm moving to the DFW area in the next 6 months . Just wanted to know what good shops and people are out there. I may need a little inspiration and guidance. I went to school at UNT several years ago and I'm moving back to the area. Would just like to know where I can go for some good deals and hang out with other stereo junkies.

Is there a way, such as a calculation, or some type of rule of thumb to determine what alternator, as well as how many batteries it will take to run a certain system? Are there any guidelines to determine these values? For example, lets say i have a 5000 watt system, can i plug that into an equation, or some sort of outline to determine what size alternator i would need, and how many batteries i would need? or if i wanted an 8000watt system, same thing.... Is there a rule, like for every 1000watts you need a certain amount of amps within a battery? I am not trying to figure anything out for myself, I am just askin for basic knowledge to see if there is an easy way to d…

I've been a loyal kicker fan for years. I've been sold on an 18" Fi Q but I just need a little reassurance that it can have more output than a 15" L7 with 1000 watts rms. I know the Q will have better SQ but I mostly listen to country so not a lot of hard bass to keep up with. I have enough room to port either of the two.

I'm interested in this alarm. I have some feature questions, and DEI will not answer them on the phone due to "liability issues". They'll only speak to the shop owner. Well, my preferred shop owner basically contracts out a revolving alarm installer.. so neither of them are fimiliar with this alarms capabilites. I'm shocked that DEI cannot answer simple feature questions on their own product. I'm not asking what wires to cut, I just want to know what it can do basically. I want to know if the 7900 can start via a time. The computstar alarm, allows you to have the car start by time, temp, or voltage. Does the 7900 do this? Can I add a small, non lcd remote to this (DEI sa…

I have a 15.5 cu ft trunk supposedly.... thats Manufacter specs of my 1996 Taurus. How many Sq Ft of damplifier should I get to cover the Walls, Lid, and Floor completely? How ever much it takes will dictate which Damp I get. if 20 sq ft will do it I AM A get Damp Pro but if a little more than that is needed Im going to get 40 sq ft of regular Damplifier and just add a second layer with whatever I got left.

So I just filled my box with polyfill and I do all my connections. Then I connect the amp to the box, throw the fuse in, and jump in the car in anticipation of some wonderful sounds. To my disappointment, the music sounds exactly as it did prior to installing the subs. My first guess is that the amp isn't connected properly and is not powering up. Upon inspection the amp is turned on. It's a bit late and I'm too tired to start taking things apart. I'm pretty sure all the wiring is secure. I'm just hoping that the screws I used aren't the problem. I will feel like an idiot they are the problem. Instead of using a those fancy speaker terminals I used some bolts …
