  3. When using the online port length calculator, http://www.carstereo.com/help2/Articles.cfm?id=31 , when it says to input the internal cf of my box do i use the gross - bracing - driver displacement or do I use gross - bracing - driver displacement - estimated port displacement? IE i have 5.2 cf gross internel volume. I will have about 4.6-4.7 after bracing and woofer displacement. Should I use 4.6 as my internal cf or should I use 4.0 cf as I am estimating the port will take up .6-.7 cf? btw the port size is 19x3. Thanks very much

Ok, I have like 3 8'x16'' long boards of 7 layer plywood. i am going to make a box 40x12x12 for two 10 TC7s. Should I go buy MDF or would the 7 layer plywood work just as well? the box will be ported using 3' big 14'' long areo ports.

What would you guys do to get more bass to hit inside your vehicle (cars only). I thought about drilling a hole between my 6x9's and have the port shooting between them.

  8. i see the stuff being used in doors, but would it be beneficial any to use this egg carton acoustic foam in a car subwoofer enclosure? http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.c...amp;rak=260-515 and if it is beneficial, i should just apply to the entire side the motor is facing right?

Hey i got the 2 12" Bl's and you designed me the box, had the box built for 400 bucks, got the amp installed and the subs slam, insane man im so happy i went with FI, i have a kicker 2500 on the subs, but quickly just want to know about break in, i have them playing kinda hard right now but my amp isnt putting out the correct wattage im only getting about 15 volts, and i need 70.7 for 2500 watts at 2ohms, my gain is up to max and i use bass boost, but im getting no distortion so im guessing im ok? sorry i couldnt take more time to write this out but im at work and going quick

I was just wondering what people listen to, to achieve deep bass.... Not just test tones and sweeps. Like songs..... I have been listening to Lil Whytes new Cd. There are a couple songs on there that hit extremely hard. ~MadroX

  11. I would do this myself, but being out of the "car audio" loop for 8 months puts me at a pretty serious disadvantage. I still have ALL of my old gear: ehh nothing else worth mentioning. But this being a new truck, I kind of want to start anew. 1) The doors already house a stock 2-way component setup (6x9's low, and a 1" paper tweet). With the speakers out, there is almost 3" of depth in the doors and enough room to fit a 10" driver in (although 7" should be plenty). I'm intrigued by using the stock locations and doing an active 2-way setup. 2) As far as low freq's go, I'm no longer really interested in pounding my brains out. A single beefy 8 should do the trick. Besides,…

  12. So Ive been sittin on my fully loaded BTL 18" since christmas I wasn't able to afford the electrical upgrades to power this sub..Well fast forward to now. I'm now financially stable enough to afford the amp,batteries,etc... I want to go with a Rockford T30001BD. I'm thinking of running a 240 amp alt, dual optimas one upfront and one in the rear, and 2 runs of 0/1 gauge. I have a few questions on doing this correctly. Do I do 2 runs from the front batt to the rear and then then run a single one to the amp?? And do I fuse each run of 0/1 gauge as well.?? I'm kinda lost when it comes to supplying the correct amount of power to the Amp. thanks matt

I put some in the hatch area of my car (97 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport) today and down in the spare wheel area but that's about as far as I got because I was getting too hot and hungry. I'll work on the rear doors and back seat area next week, then work my way forward from there. After I got cleaned up I drove down the road for some ice cream and maybe it's just the CD I put in (the new Big & Rich) but the subs kind of sounded... softer? But I also think they were a little cleaner sounding. Is that normal? Is that one of the properties of sound dampening? I guess I was expecting an opposite result, thinking it would focus more of the sound towards me. I prima…

"To low of amp wattage will cook the sub" is what ive heard a few times and always thought that it was false. I have normally under powered my subs and never had a problem, not even on installs for other people and never a problem at all. Just want to hear what other people have to say?

Ok, I've got another question. I'm just going to copy and paste this from a thread I started at CA. I don't like to post the same question in more than one location at a time but it doesn't look like I'm going to get any kind of response there. The guide in question is here Thank you for any assistance.

Not sure if this will work or not, i'm scared that the subs won't move the air into the box. And yes it is a tight space. Im just going to take out the 6x9's and leave the metal sheeting but have the holes there. My main concern is the box though. Would it even be a point in porting it and if so where? Plan on starting this later today, or whenever i get some wood. or maybe angled like this

I'm looking for a 4gauge wiring kit and since I would need fuses, ring terminals etc, I figured buying a complete kit would be my best bet right? What brand do you guys recommend? I was looking www.knukonceptz.com but their kits come with RCA's, and I already have some DB Link RCA's in the truck. I've heard good things about knukonceptz, but that's because they're good quality and cheap, but if you guys don't recommend them let me know. -John

I'm looking to reduce a bit of the noise from under the hood. Can I use raamat BXT or secondskin's Damplifier underneath the hood for this application. Also, is there anything else that I could use or should along with one of those products. This is for my GMC Sierra 04. Thanks guys!!

I've been using a sub & box combo that I picked up at a local car audio store a few years ago to get me by and have recently begun thinking about upgrading. So I've been reading up and just trying to educate myself on the matter and tonight I went out to try and calculate the box volume and tune of the ports. Just wondered if I figured this out right. I used a calculator here (the vent length calculator at the bottom). I had the vent length so I swapped frequencies in and out until I got one to match. Here's what I know. The box contains 2 10s. It's 30.5" wide, 13" tall, 9.5" deep at the top and 12" deep at the bottom (so I used an average depth of 10.75"). Whe…

  24. Started by Koridan,

I am currently financially strapped and so i cant spend money on sound deadening products like dynamat and fatmat, second skin etc etc.... anyway i was wondering if there are any other ways to stop the trunk from rattling...... I tightened up all the bolts in the trunk which helped very little but it still helped nonetheless. I noticed under the carpet in my trunk is a layer of stock sound deadening im guessing. It is also surrounding the 6x9's on the rear deck in the car. I have several cars at my house that are out of comission, if that layer of fabric under the carpet is an actual sound deadener, i was wondering would it be possible to somehow jerry-rig a way to stick…

I have looked around and seen a system I would like to get rigged up. It's 2 Alpine SWR-1222D's powered by a Hifonics 1606D wired in at 2ohms in a 3ft^ ported enclosure tuned to 35hz.??? Im a little iffy about the box. It sounds like it would be good to me. Thanks in Advance ~MadroX
