Hello guys, just to let you know some scores with SSA subs this week end. A friend of mine did 145.2 dbs at 44 Hz IIRC, with 2 Xcon 15" on 4 saz1000 amps. It was his first time metering on a Termlab. Sensor on the windshield, on the right side. He was very pleased with that score, for a non spl setup. His box is 4 ft3 per sub, tuned to 30 Hz. Another one did 140.1 with an SSA Icon 15" in a 3.5 ft3 box tuned to 32 Hz.. The amp was a Digital Design M1 (I think so). The spl record for the week end is 150.something. But with a "pure" spl setup : wall, no mids&highs ! I don't know what subs and what amps were playing. I'll try to meter my car soon. I know a guy with a Te…

  4. My friend has an 04 infiniti fx 35 and wanted to know if it is possible for him to keep his stock radio which Is a bose system on a stock 300 watt amp and just change the sub, is this possible or will he have to change out the amp too? Is it that easy, can he just replace both the amp and sub and keep the same radio? he is just looking for more bass to add to his system. I believe it has 11 speakers and 2 subs.

Yesterday I finally got my ported box built, but now i need a little help with tuning my amp. I had the frequency set a little high because of the temporary sealed box i was using, but now i want to tune it for the lows. The box is 2.0ft^3 tuned to 32hz with a Fi Q12. This is all in a 96 honda accord off of 800 watts. What should i aim to tune my amps frequency at? Any help would be very appreciated.

  7. Hi there guys. I'm working on deciding what I want to buy for two door 2001 Jimmy. I have a Kenwood KDC-X492 headunit installed already, along with Phoenix Gold RSD 6.5" components in the doors. My goals for the system is to have a setup that will get plenty loud while maintaining good musical balance. Now, I'm no noob to the car audio game, this truck will be getting the full treatment of sound deadening, HO alt, 2-3 batteries and more so it will handle about anything I want do with it much like I did my van. My questions are for those with experience with both the 10" SSD and 12" BTL series subwoofers from Fi. My original design for the truck was to use two 10" …

I have a 1/24th scale Chevy Express cargo. I had planned on making a miniature SPL vehicle. I could not find a speaker that would fit in the van (would have to be a 2 inch sub). After watching the styrofoam plate speaker video that was posted on SMD, got me thinking... Maybe I could make a custom lil' woofer to fit my application. I watched that video a few times and figured I could improve on his design a bit... So this is what I've come up with. Let me explain this now.. The Blue is the basket. As I won't be able to make a sub style motor, I will do something similar to what he had done in the video. however make it more like a real sub instead a bunch of cutlery an…

I was looking around last night for some 5.25s and i found a ad with a 6 ch. amp and a 4 ch. amp along with 3 sets of 5.25 component sets all old school audio art and 2 sets of pioneer 6.5'' midbass for $150 for everything. it's a round trip 7 hr. drive to pick it all up. Is it worth the drive and $150 i don't know much abouth the audio art brand. also the components are new in the box.

Well I've been designing my box for my 2003 ext cab s10. I've decided to do the sub at a 45 degree angle facing the windshield and do the port the same way. The box is 6 ft^3 after all displacements and the port is 80 in^2 tuned to 30 hz so its about 32in long. The port is angles 45 degree off of the baffle board and goes straight down and makes a 90 degree turn and goes across the bottom. Does it have to be angled the same in the bottom of the box like its pictured below? Is that how you would do it?

Alright considering pickin up another sundown 3000, and it got me thinking of bigger subs. Anyways, how does subs up port back work in a trunk car? I have 2 15s now, and considering 2 18s, but the subs would have to be facing up for this to work.

  22. Howdy everyone, hope all is well... My buddy is a memeber of these forums and just spend ashit load of money on some FI audio and he refered me, he knew of my intentions of buying a speaker + amp package from soniceletronix just to get some bump in my trunk now, untill i can save up to get the high end beautiful quality, i just cant wait need sounds now lol... Heres my sisutation, I've got 400-500 dollers to spend on a speaker/s (2 perf, but 1 good one is good) 12, or 10 if i cant get my hands on a good enough amp for the price range... I've got a 2007 Chevy Impala, and its got a opening behind the seats where it will allow very nice flow from the trunk into the sitting a…

I'll get a pic soon, but I got a battery jumper that blew the charging board in it....well I charged it with a normal battery charger and its fine. So I popped off the back and it has a nice "lead acid sealed battery" in it. Obviously this is a high amperage/capacity battery or it would not be able to jump a fly let alone a car. Its maybe 2-3" thick and 6" tall by 8" wide roughly. So, with my monstrous 700.5 amp (lol) I was thinking this would be the perfect cap for it to mount in the trunk. I still have to inspect it for vents not sure if it has any or not....hoping not. Seems like if it did it would trash all the wiring inside the jumper, also has an air compressor in i…

whats the best way to do this? run an isolator or not? I was told by a stereo repair man its best not to run an isolator, just make a run of pos. and ground it, that way both batteries are constantly charging and avail. for current draw from the amps. I'm not well versed in this area... help.

Helping out a friend. He currently has an alpine 9887 headunit and wants to run active. I suggested for him to get a sundown 50.4, sea neo tweeters and the mli-65 mids. He also wants to run coaxials off his headunit for the rear. Would that cause any problems other then throwing off the sound stage?
