Running a 10" JL (300 RMS) on an Alpine amp at 150 RMS at 4 ohms and I just fried it. Same happened to my last 10" Punch. I thought i had the sub matched perfectly to my amp but obviously I am doing something wrong. Anyone know of any good instructional material I can read to educate myself before I waste any more money? I wanted to upgrade my sub and amp but not if I am going to just ruin another driver. I do listen with the bass boost up and at high volume, I am definitely hard on my subs, but thats why I was careful not to over power this one. What else could I be doing wrong? HELP!

Alright so I just put an 18" Fi SSD in my 97 honda civic hatchback. I think its like 7.3 cubes and tuned to 33hz. I'm not sure what all info you need but just trying to be helpful ahead of time. Right now I just have a crappy 1000w sony amp from my temp. audio system to hold me over until I had money for the real deal. I an almost ready to purchase my pair of 18 in zcons. FTW! I'm still debating on what amp(s) to use for them. Any thoughts? Opinions? Statements? Etc? I'm thinkin SAZ 4500 if I can find one used. Maybe even Crescendo 's line but I haven't seen what they have out recently. I don't do competitions, this setup is just for show and enjoyment. But I want some bang in my car. I regret going with a Cadence Z800 over the A7HC, because the A7 was a sick amp and it would have been more useful down the road. I also regret selling the only MAW-10 we had here, would have been perfect to squeeze in our little movie room. hi all i am going to be competing for the first time and was wondering what class i should run. i am going to using my fi x 12 in a 6th order bp which is 3.5 cubes a chamber and will be pushing 200w rms to it. also i have a kicker zx 1500 that i just aquired and was thinking of using it at 8 oms on the x so that should roughly be about 375wto 400w rms but was wondering if they would make me run a higher class since that amp can put out 1500w even though i would have it putting out around 400 since it would be at 8 ohms

I understand that the amount of decibels you are able to achieve is totally dependant on install. I was wondering if anyone would care to guess or offer a range of where i might be with my setup. I have a 2004 blazer with stock alternator and battery. Should be 105 amp alt... I have 1/0 gauge Kicker wire running to the back. I have done the big 3. I'm waiting on a SQ2200. It will be pushing a HDC3 15 copper D2 at 1ohm in a 3/4" dual baffle mdf box with 5.29 net tuned at 35.79 hertz according to torres. Any guesses? Hello everyone just need a little bit of advice if someone could help me out! Here is the scenario. I have a 2001 ford windstar minivan with this done: 2 alpine type rs hifonics brutus 1200 rms 4 guage wire with 60 amp inline fuse NO big three stock alternator Today I switched out my battery and put in a kinetik hc1800. On my way to work I experienced very bad voltage drops to the point the amp cut out. I did not experience this bad of voltage drop with my stock battery. I have money at my disposal and I also don't want to hurt my equipment I just don't know what is the next step?

I'm always so lucky. once I got a jbl 15wgti,a $600 sub, at a pawn shop for $70. they had it in a crappy box and didnt know what they had. Then a couple months ago I bought a soundstream tarantula tr880/2 for $300 in the box. now I have a soundstream splx 12. I've been to 3 comps and I never see ss in the lanes. But every comp I've been to was a local comp, maybe 15-20 car competeing. Has any one seen anything impressive come from ss. I've seen the xxx. but what about as far as number wise. any impressive cars with soundstream. so far I'm not impressed with the splx 12. thinking about switching brands. my bro is getting his 2008 charger sys installed. he has the subs 2 spl15 but they will need space so the box will be built into the trunk. what do ya'll think of this price? the total quote was 2200: the amp is a memphis mojo 2500 $1300 the box is $300 yellow top batt $200 it seems like im missing something but the rest is wiring, relay, amp rack, labor, and other miscellaneous. the only thing else included is the shop gives a 3 year warranty on everything they do, that includes the amp. we usually do this stuff ourself but this is out of our span and we he wants it to look pro' something we dont worry about when we do it.
