  4. So I've been listening for leaks in my new sealed box and browsing through stuff that I haven't heard in a while. A song that I've heard countless times before, Dread Rock (Paul Oakenfold, Matrix soundtrack) literally made me jump out of my seat when it hit a certain note that I've never heard before. I've had a small sealed enclosure with my single RL-i8, but it never hit sounds like this. I guess it really proves that it's all about the box... although I'm sure adding another RL-i8 (and lowering the impedance to 4ohms in the process) didn't hurt. Obviously, there are SPL setups that make the listener almost lose control of their bodily functions. I'm more interested…

I had my system installed about 10 years ago and I ve never really been happy with it. I finally have started diving into to the install and am not happy with very much of it as far as quality and cleanliness. I like things to look stealth and very clean. I have been doing a lot of reading and am getting a plan together. You can see what I have now in my sig. I have questions about wiring, sound deadening, component speaker mounting and adapters, and sub and enclosure. Is this the right section for all these questions? Couple questions to start it off...I have a capacitor that I've had about 12 years now. I always thought it was a good thing until I started reading that I…

My buddy wants to know how he can wall his ford ranger with 15s He has a 2003 Ford Ranger Ext Cab 4x4 lifted 5" and 33" Nitto Terra Grapplers. He already took out his rear seats and stuff and has a custom box tuned to 36hz with a 12" Fi Q on a SAE 1000. He's ready to upgrade.. He just wants an idea. Hes budget-minded so nothing too expensive I suggested 4 SA 15s on two SAZ 1500. Or one SAZ 3000. He hasn't upgraded his alternator but he has done the big 3 and has 2 kinetik HC 2400s with 1/0 kicker wiring on everything. His question is what's a good budget wall for his truck. Let's say budget at $5000. Thanks !

  9. I have been thinking of different designs. Is there any issues with mounting a subwoofer in the inside port wall facing the port? I know the velocity from the port would be directed across the face of the sub, would this cause cancellation? Or would it depend on volume of the port? Any input is appreciated. Chad

I'm planning out a box for my 8" Orphan driver. Using 3/4" mdf, outer dimensions are 12x12x15, driver displacement is approximately .15 ft3, and I am thinking of using a 2x9 inch flared aeroport to bring the box specs to 0.69 ft3 @ ~34 hz. Is this an adequate port? Or am i missing something? I'm pretty new to round ports, as I have built only slot ports. Any help is appreciated.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with Planet Audio, in particular the Big Bang line of amps. I've heard mixed opinions but for some reason the aesthetic's intrigue me. also.... I'm gonna be adding an additional battery to two different installs with similar power requirements and I wanted to know if anyone knew of a good isolator for a decent price (hence my username) thanks

  19. ok, so i have my subs and i have figured out the amp to power them. now i need to figure out if the box that i have will be sufficient or if i am better off with a different design. the following is as much useful information as i can think of, but if you need anymore just ask. also haven't been able to find detailed specs on the speakers, so i don't know fo, qes, xmax or anything like that, that's why i need your help. haven't found anyone that has that info either, so hopefully you all can still throw me some input. thanks. car: 99 altima subs: pair of 12" american bass vfl1266 amp: rockford t1500 current box: sealed 34x14x14 3/4mdf music: mostly juggalo beats and nu-me…

  21. So I'm building a box for my BTL this next weekend. I've ordered two 3/4"x9"x18" sheets of plexiglass, and two of these 3w high powered wide angle LEDs on an aluminum base. They'll be going inside the box, and you'll be able to see the badass backside of the BTL while its playing. They're the same ones Steve Meade used in the 2x T15K Escalade build, so I know they're going to be super bright. Here is Plasma LEDs site if anyone is interested. My question, I've heard people talk about before a control module that you could get that you could plug into your RCAs to make your LEDs flash to the beat. Does anyone know where I can find one? I've searched and come up with nothin…

Ok......to start off, my vehicle is a 1993 toyota 1/2 ton pick up. Regular cab. So I have no space in the cab for the kind of sub that I want. The only way for me to get the bass that I want is to cut a hole from the bed of my truck in thru the cab. Just wondering if anyone has done this and if so what were the results? I have heard a lot of good things about the Fi BTL subs. Im thinking of going with a fully loaded 18" Fi BTL, and a saz1500d sundown amp. Would they go good together? Also what else would I need as far as an alt. and a battery go? Sorry for all the questions, its just that I have never ran a system that needs "real" power. At the present, all I…

Hey there everyone....I have a few friends who do a little free "tweak and test" thing for SPL every couple weeks. The next one is Saturday, August 20th (weather permitting of course.) It will be from 4pm-9pm at the Brunswick car show. The city holds a car show/crusin gig every Saturday at Laurel Square Shopping Center. They have their own space to do test and tune, just look for the EZ-UP tent and some loud cars around it. The address is 1733 Pearl Road, Brunswick Ohio 44212. It's about 18 miles south of Cleveland and about 20 miles north of Akron. Of course its free. They will be having a competition there in the fall where all money paid in to compete gets paid back to…

So I have had my SSD hooked up on my zx750 now for about 3 months and I love it to death it sounds amazing and all the kids up at the high school chit bricks when they hear it. I'm guessing I'm hitting in the low 30's on TL. AND I FINALLY FIXED THE RATTLING!!! But I want a bit more, it would cost around $1000 dollars if I sell my SSD&amp for $500. I'm thinking cut out the upper trunk railings so I can fit a 5cuft box in my trunk instead of a 3.5cuft box (1) Fi BTL 15 fully loaded (1) 2k-2500rms amp (possibly sundown2000 when it comes out) 1 run of 0 gauge, 8 gauge speaker wire And obviously some batteries, not too sure on which ones and how many I'm going to need(sugg…
