i've been hearing that stereo>mono>surround. why is that. i've been wanting to do something cool for the house but i don't know what to do. i used to have a dvd player w/ surround built in. $100 walmart special. well it just crapped out. so i was wondering what a good "stereo" setup would consist of that would be better than surround. i'm kinda cheap and i like to do stuff myself so it'll be DIY. i already know i need a nice sub and amp for the sub. but what would the front be? 4's, 2's, 6.5's??? i hope you get what i'm saying.....

Yes, I know it's been discussed here and there on other forums. But not here, and never indepth (at least not yet). Because I'm very noobish to the home audio realm, I'm going to ask away I have two home projects / goals. A.) 2 or 3 way monitors for my office. I have a classic Audiologic reciever. I don't really plan on picking up an amplifier down here. This is mostly used for music & has an input from the PC sound card. Mainly background music, workout music, and occasional party music. So fidelity & output are not priorities (doesn't need to win an award, just has to sound good), neither is output. Cheapness & accuracy count. Thinking 6.5 midwoofers LP ~25…

ok so i traded my friend the orions, i got from nccj, for these pioneer subs i got from bb a while back(basiclly i sold him those too and got them back) and he gave me 50bux(in change ) but anyway, i have my PA 3000db, calculated a lil bit, and came up wt these numbers ohms watts gain 8 200 4 1100 900 2 1800 700 1 2300 500 0.5 2550 250 Now the subs are rated at 150rms per sub, so 300total. So i have them in series and thier both 4ohms so it should be 8ohms total. I'm scared to turn them up loud because i dont want to blow them cuz im gonna giv them to my g/f once my subs come in. The gain is set to 0, and all bass is set to 0 and -7on the HU, lol, I can hear it …

  9. Just like the title says, if you were looking for something what car audio site would you check out for your item used? I hope this is not against the rules Big D (Denim), it's just that the readership here is more quality rather than quantity so sales area is a little lacking. If it is then I'll take my a$$ kickin like a man......

Well, this Monday I started my first ever fiberglass project. I am making doorpods for my DLS 6.3 3-way component set. I started the back half fiberglass enclosures. These will be part of the the sealed enclosure for the midbass. I utilized the factory 5.25" mounting cup, and filled it to create half of a sealed enclosure. This mount/enclosure used to bolt to the sheetmetal of the door, and the plastic doorpanel is mounted in front of it. Since this mount is being replaced with the rear fiberglass enclosure, I am guaranteed a perfect fit, dont have to cut any sheetmetal, eliminate depth concerns, and will seriously increase the imaging, depth, etc.. I removed the OEM spe…

I have been thinking a lot lately :nono and I just might sell the rl-p. I am close to getting a new car (possibly this beauty) and am now tihnking a 15" rl-p is just too much. The box and sub weigh around 100 lbs which is way more than you want in the trunk of a 540. Not to mention I don't want this car to fal apart on me. I could probably sell the rl-p and my box locally for over $400 which would then give me some more money for the car and maybe even a little 12" set up to hold me over for awhile. If i sell my nine1 with it I could probably get $700-750, which would definitely help with some mods (read:updated lights) for the 5er. Maybe I'm crazy, but I am really c…

I'm putting my first system together one piece at a time. I first picked up my Pioneer 8600 at the beginning of the year and installed it into my 1995 Ford Explorer XLT. Now I'm moving to the subwoofers and amp. I mainly have two possibilities: (2) Two 12" RE SEs--- powered by an Orion 1200d OR (1) One 12" RE SX--- powered by an Orion 1200d I will more than likely port it either way, I am just wanting the one that will sound better and have an overall LSQ. I've asked this question to numerous people and I've got many many different answers, if you have an other suggestions, please spit them out. I want to keep it around this price range. Thanks, Kyle

I have been running Powerbass subs for a little over a year now and I would have to say that they are the best sounding and hardest hitting subs I have ever used. At fisrt I was running 2 ES10d's in 1.5ft3 per chamber ported in a single cab 98 f150. Pushing 1100 watts through them with a Memphis MC1000D. Hit a respectable 141.7. Sold the 10's to my old man and bought 2 ES12Dv.2's. 2.1ft3 ported per sub in the same truck with the same amp and they drop like its hot. Can't wait to get it mic'd again. Hoping to get over 146 with them. Oh and the Evolution Coaxials and components sound great 2. 5.25 components up front, 6.5 coaxials out back with a Memphis 2004 four channel. …

hey nice place! i have slowly been putting money back into my car with pretty solid results. i was wondering what advice or comments you have for the next step. i took some time away from car audio and got the home system going. My home system took the cake and i just had to upgrade the car. i drive a 97 4 door grand am with no tint. alpine 9827 - upgraded the 4x6 in the front doors with polk momo 5 1/4. i upgraded my mono -mrv100 alpine amp with a 5 channel alpine-353. for $115 new. i have a pair of infinity refrence 6x9's in the back that have been used for 6 years. they need to go and i was looking at ebay for some momo's. and my sub is one of the older polk d…

Does anyone see a need for lower priced High end installation accessories? What I'm saying is if you could get the Expensive Stinger, Tsunami, EFX stuff for a hair more than Knukonceptz would you buy it? Or Dynamat for that matter? How about some specialty tools that are not readily available to the average DIYer? Give me some feedback please. This is important.

i have 3 seats in the front bench of my truck. when i sit in the middle, the imaging is pretty good. the singer's voice is in the center, guitars/drums/etc in their proper places. however, when i sit in the driver's seat, the horizontal bias is horrible. sometimes i hear the left tweeter a lot since its pretty close to my head (a-pillar), other times i hear my right mid over everything else (maybe cuz its more on axis?). the tweeters arent mounted for perfect imaging rite now cuz i dont have time to glass the flush mount cups to the a-pillars. theyre mounted above ear level and kinding pointing to the stomach of the middle seat so maybe thats the cause? lemme know whatcha…

1st of all, HELLO Ive been gone a while (busy and poor since i moved from FL to TX) I believe one of my last post was about my new truck (the reg cab silverado) well now its time to fix er up with a system. My music tastes have changed completely. I used to only listen to rap/hip hop and now I dont listen to that at all. Now im into like Gavin DeGraw, Dave Mathews, Ben Harper, etc. So instead of "two bangin fit-teens" im goin with an SQ setup thats loud and clean. So far the only thing im set on is a single rli-8 in a sealed enclosure. Other than that i need ya'lls help, with... -an HU -sub amp (400-500 watts maybe) -components (a set thatll get pretty loud and clear but …
