I have been thinking a lot lately :nono and I just might sell the rl-p. I am close to getting a new car (possibly this beauty) and am now tihnking a 15" rl-p is just too much. The box and sub weigh around 100 lbs which is way more than you want in the trunk of a 540. Not to mention I don't want this car to fal apart on me. I could probably sell the rl-p and my box locally for over $400 which would then give me some more money for the car and maybe even a little 12" set up to hold me over for awhile. If i sell my nine1 with it I could probably get $700-750, which would definitely help with some mods (read:updated lights) for the 5er. Maybe I'm crazy, but I am really c…

I'm putting my first system together one piece at a time. I first picked up my Pioneer 8600 at the beginning of the year and installed it into my 1995 Ford Explorer XLT. Now I'm moving to the subwoofers and amp. I mainly have two possibilities: (2) Two 12" RE SEs--- powered by an Orion 1200d OR (1) One 12" RE SX--- powered by an Orion 1200d I will more than likely port it either way, I am just wanting the one that will sound better and have an overall LSQ. I've asked this question to numerous people and I've got many many different answers, if you have an other suggestions, please spit them out. I want to keep it around this price range. Thanks, Kyle

From XM to Sirius I got stuck with XM because of my Pioneer deck, and when Pioneer released the Sirius tuner I bought it up quick. And I'm so glad I did, Sirius sounds 100x better then XM. Their programming is much more "mature" in my opinion. XM has been deleting channels to make way for MLB channels. They took off my favorite channel and that just topped it off for me. There is much more I could rant on and on about XM, but I'm glad I have Sirius now. Also the Sirius tuner is 1/2 the size of the XM tuner. But was also a little harder to install. Channel 27

i have 3 seats in the front bench of my truck. when i sit in the middle, the imaging is pretty good. the singer's voice is in the center, guitars/drums/etc in their proper places. however, when i sit in the driver's seat, the horizontal bias is horrible. sometimes i hear the left tweeter a lot since its pretty close to my head (a-pillar), other times i hear my right mid over everything else (maybe cuz its more on axis?). the tweeters arent mounted for perfect imaging rite now cuz i dont have time to glass the flush mount cups to the a-pillars. theyre mounted above ear level and kinding pointing to the stomach of the middle seat so maybe thats the cause? lemme know whatcha…

1st of all, HELLO Ive been gone a while (busy and poor since i moved from FL to TX) I believe one of my last post was about my new truck (the reg cab silverado) well now its time to fix er up with a system. My music tastes have changed completely. I used to only listen to rap/hip hop and now I dont listen to that at all. Now im into like Gavin DeGraw, Dave Mathews, Ben Harper, etc. So instead of "two bangin fit-teens" im goin with an SQ setup thats loud and clean. So far the only thing im set on is a single rli-8 in a sealed enclosure. Other than that i need ya'lls help, with... -an HU -sub amp (400-500 watts maybe) -components (a set thatll get pretty loud and clear but …

hey nice place! i have slowly been putting money back into my car with pretty solid results. i was wondering what advice or comments you have for the next step. i took some time away from car audio and got the home system going. My home system took the cake and i just had to upgrade the car. i drive a 97 4 door grand am with no tint. alpine 9827 - upgraded the 4x6 in the front doors with polk momo 5 1/4. i upgraded my mono -mrv100 alpine amp with a 5 channel alpine-353. for $115 new. i have a pair of infinity refrence 6x9's in the back that have been used for 6 years. they need to go and i was looking at ebay for some momo's. and my sub is one of the older polk d…

Does anyone see a need for lower priced High end installation accessories? What I'm saying is if you could get the Expensive Stinger, Tsunami, EFX stuff for a hair more than Knukonceptz would you buy it? Or Dynamat for that matter? How about some specialty tools that are not readily available to the average DIYer? Give me some feedback please. This is important.

He i was talking to him yesterday and he said he drove up to the local audio shop which sapposeably has MECA certified mics. I dont know if this is Term Lab or not. i am assumeing so since that is the organization Alma gates comeats (or compeated) with. anyway, he told me he did a 149.2@ 55Hz. beleiveable but not BSable Today he calls me saying he went up there agian and did a bunch of runs. he averaged at 151.3...still beleiveable depending on the box. but then he goes on to tell me on a bass track song he did a 157.1…

Ok, I just bought my new car, a bright red 1993 Volvo 850 GLT with tan leather and a 5 spd. The cars great, but its lacking in the sound department. Ok, I have a MINT condition Alpine CDA-7875 head unit (BBE, V-Drive, etc) that I want in this car, how do I hook it up? I have put this head unit in 4 different cars so far so im not an idiot, but Circuit City told me you couldnt put a head unit in this car without rewiring EVERYTHING in the car due to an internal amp. Now, my 240SX had internal amps and all I did was hook up the remote turn on wire to the one on the HU and it worked great. Anyoen have a wiring diagram? Also, I pulled the Volvo radio out and I cant see how a…

Let your vote be heard. Im planning a West Coast meet late June or early July. Location will be in the Los Angeles County area. (Location will be the Saugus Speedway if I can secure it, although that would mean charging an attendance fee. Most likely it would be held at my home, which is located in Santa Clarita, CA, 5 mins away from Six Flags Magic Mountain)

Question. Do passive crossovers need space for cooling? Reason, I am tired of the HD crossovers being behind the seat. I have seen other installs in the same make and model as my truck with the crossovers mounted on the door between the sheet metal and the door panel. Does or has anyone ran into any problems in this area? Thanks, Justin Example of what I am thinking of doing. http://www.icixsound.com/vb/showthread.php?t=11586

hey all, i'm not sure if this is in the right forum or not so if it's not please move it. i am looking into buy new subs and changing enclosures. i know there are some on this site who bulid their own enclosures. i don't want anything custom and crazy just something that will do the job and give me good sound quality. are there any how to's on making your own enclosure and also how to tune them? i've heard that tuning the enclosure is important but i don't know anything about this. i've seen them done on a tv show called unique whips and the guy finishes them in about 30 minutes. is it really this simple? any help would be very helpful. I'm excited to help bring Scott Buwalda to this part of the world. B) We've been talking over the past weeks, discussing the feasibility, and have had some quick and enthusiastic response! While Buffalo, NY isn't a huge city, it is central to quite a bit - Southern Ontario (Toronto is only 1.5 hours, Niagara Falls about 30 minutes, etc) Rochester, NY (about 1 hour) Northeast Ohio (about 2.5 hours) Erie, Pa (about 1.5 hours) And with the cancellation of the Sacramento, CA event - we were able to secure a date! B) Here is the official announcement thread: http://www.canadiancaraudio.com/ubb/ultima...ic;f=3;t=010529 For those that haven't seen yet, here is the Sound Qua…

ok, i got my box built (5 cubes net @33hz), and now my subs aren't loud at all.it sounds like they're bottoming out on every song i play (i listen to mostly rap) the sq is horrible cause they bottom out non-stop, i think its the settings on my amp here they are: subsonic=20 bass eq= 1/2 up low pass=1/2 (out of 35-250 phase=90 deg. (what is this, and what is it for?) level (gain)= 1/4 way up..... is it my settings or what???i can't think of anything else unless its my box but i rechecked the math on it and it came out right....my port is 10x8, the calculator on carstereo.com i used said 21" long (20.97 btw), so i used end correction and took off 5", is this right?my port i…
