Ok Hello, I have my amplifier already picked out. I've been researching this for about a month or two and am stuck on a few areas.... being pretty new to car stereos I come to you for help. The amp I have chosen is the Viper D1200 and I'm debating on my speaker selection, its between 1 Alpine 10" Type X dual voice coil and 2 Alpine 10" Type R duals... I plan to run this amp at 1 ohm. I listen to mostly death/black metal or metal in general so SQ is what I'm after mostly but I occasionally listen to some rap and I would liek a decent compromise between sq and spl. Basically I am looking for something with the ability to get really loud if I want but will run my metal fine …

hello all, this is my first post and i am pretty much a novice when it comes to car audio. that being said, right now i'm driving a '97 neon and i'm still running the stock speakers all around with some cheapy audio 3000 10" subs in a bandpass being run by a kenwood amp. i'm looking to get a system where the lyrics are clearly heard and the bass doesn't pound too hard but still pounds. (if that makes any sense)my questions are these: 1. i'm interested in building a half decent system on a students budget. what do u guys/gals think would be good speakers and subs to get? 2. is it better to stick with one manufacturer for the whole car? 3. how does watts,, amps, ohms com…

Well I've officially had it with my system, and as soon as I get out of school I will be ripping my car apart and replacing everything but my HU and Amp (Alpine 7995, SS Ref 604). I currently have 0 gauge in my car, and it is way overkill (left over from a hardcore install). My car alt died yesterday, so I'll have a brand new one in tommorow and don't feel like killing it so this install will be very low power. I will drop to 4ga because I don't need anymore than that. Rip out my currently half-assed diy comp setup (Alpine tweet, infinity mid and xover) and replace it most likely with some CDT Ef's. My B212 is next to go basically because i'm sick of the space its taking …

1. Where is a hole in the firewall? Doesn't have to be that large, just need one for one run of 10 gauge. 2. Disconnect battery ... airbag deployment, loss of security, etc ... any of that BS? 3. Install head unit - is it as easy as those couple screws in the bottom panel and then take the top one off? 4. Running wire - where? Under door sills? Can figure it out when I know where that goddamn firewall hole is. Any help appreciated. Needed before tomorrow morning I'm still searching myself.

WOOOHOOOO!!!!! WOW, so excited. Well, Jason (UndercoverPunk on caraudio.com) came over yesterday at about 1 p.m. to help me out on some deadening. Deadener was SecondSkin Damplifier and SecondSkin Spectrum. After borrowing my truck from the mechanic's (Just got a whole new transmission, 3 weeks later...problems... thank god for 3 year warranty) We took it home and began to strip it down. Took All the seats, body panels, and carpet out. There are AT LEAST 2 layers of Damplifier EVERYWHERE seen (sometime 3 layers). Spectrum didn't get used yet....MAYBE i'll put the full gallon on the floor next time. Here's a pic of a *few* things in the bed of the truck... After about…

Hey guys, I finnaly found the Powerbass forums I have herd so much about! I have been a PBX Dealer for some time, when I first started AJ (who is here on the forums) was my sales rep.....& one hell of a nice guy. We have been competing with PBX very heavily over the last 2 years & absolutly love the stuff. I have been convincing poeple on the car sound & performance forums to try powerbass for a long time, & I am glad to say it was about the 3rd most popular sub at the 04 USACi world finals! My team is the loudest in northen CA, so if any1 wants to E-mail me to get a 2nd opinion with SPL setups (after 1st ofcoarse talking with the folks at pbx) feel free!…

I currently have a Yamaha RV-V800 5.1 receiver and enjoy it quite a bit. I wouldn't go back to 'consumer brands' like sony, kenwood, jvc etc (no offense). RX-V800 review http://audioreview.com/PRD_125000_2718crx.aspx Receiver Comparison Yamaha receiver comparison chart. The speakers I'm currently using: Mission 701 x 4 (fronts and surrounds) Mission 70C1 (center channel) Mission 700ASi (10" powered sub) Mission 701 reveiw Mission 700 series PDF click the pic for a larger view sorry no big pic My Brother is getting married this Summer and I'm considering giving him my Yamaha 5.1 amplifier. I have a friend in the Navy who is single and has money to burn. He needs some boom in his Explorer (he's my co-admin over at fordexplorer.net). I suggested to him RE XXX 15's, whatever amp denim told me to buy, probably RE components too in the according sizes. I'd like to see what some of you guys who live and breathe this stuff have to say because denim isn't on aim ever any more

Heres a review of the unit. They also have a group buy at caraudio.com going for it. I read the whole thread and I seem impressed. I downloaded the plugin for windows media player and I like the way it sounds on my headphones. I don't know if I would buy the unit, but maybe in the future if more people have good results. However, it looks very promising. I am gonna copy the text here because it is hard to read at ECA. http://forum.elitecaraudio.com/showthread....threadid=109732 Okay so here it is. I feel i've tested the unit for long enough to get a good feel of what its capable of. First off i just want to say i have no connection to Waves (the maker of maxxbass) and i D…

Well I finally got my car all cleaned up. I recently bought a 1995 Nissan 240sx SE, last thursday. Enough my pictures, the car was professionally buffed at work(I work for Toyota) and my buddy still has to do the inside. It cost me 50$ through work for a basic detail, and then I paided him $25 plus 3 days of lunch. So basically I'm paying about 85-95$ for a 500+ detail job. He spent 5hours buffing, polishing, and waxing the outside today, and is going to do the inside tomorrow at work. Heres the pictures... I'm very excited about this car. BEfore anyone says... why didnt you do it yourself, well for one, this was professionally done by out TOC detail division at work. TOC…

What all are you guys using? I'm looking for a decent alarm. Nothing too expensive. Vehicle doesn't have power doors/windows, so don't need something too special. I really, really don't like dealing with alarms. I detest alarms. Glass breaking sensors are good ... and I don't mind if it chirps if someone bumps into it.

So, I've been pondering this a while now... Why is it that the majority of home theater or home stereo drivers are designed for higher nominal resistance? Would the main reason to use 16 or 8ohm loads vs. 4ohm loads be to keep THD ratings down at the amplifier? If so, is this primarily just a result ipso facto of engineer marketing? THD ratings of 0.00000000001 into a 16ohm load sell's $1800 home amplifiers.

actual technical question follows ---> Basically as the title says...I've decided on an 5.25" or 6.5" MTM design that works for my app, but I've got a choice of ribbon or regular tweets. The ribbon kit is double the price of the normal one at $550...I've never owned a speaker using ribbon tweets, so I don't know if they'd be worth the price increase. FYI, the speakers I'm looking at can be found at http://www.parkeraudio.net. 95dB/W or 98dB/W at a stable 2 ohm load. Thanks. :musik05:

Well, so now comes time to hurry up and get some bump in the Cutty before I leave. I've had my mind on some L7s for quite some time and with the recent Ebay explosion on great prices they are pretty hard to pass up. I'm thinking a trio of 12 will do nicely and I'll come in at just under $400 after shipping. Midbass is handled. I have a nice pair of RMB8s just awaiting a good home. Now on to HU, amplification and midrange, tweeters. Here I'm at a loss. Would like to get a nice cheap MP3 compatible HU; amps, who knows. Subs will be handled by a class D for current concerns, but is 1.5K feasible for $250-$300? And what about midrange/tweeter combos? I'm at a loss…

I know the banners that Superfly/denim made for ya are tight, but they are to big for Termpros standards. 500x90 is fine (u can go up to 150) but it must be 10kb or less
