General Audio

I still haven't learned a lot about tuning boxes, and normally pay someone to do it or use free box generators. I am likely going to have to build a box with the port extending outside of the box. Is this going to affect tuning? Say i need a 18" deep port in the box. If I just move it out, 14" inside and 4" outside, will this affect tuning?

Just bought this truck and was putting a aftermarket HU in with the scosche interface and have it all wired and everything working radio, chimes, delayed power off. But the anti theft light flashes when I start the truck and stays on while im driving. This would be my first time getting an extra battery with a system and i have only a little knowledge on how to wire this. I am going to receive my AQ2200d and will be upgrading my stock alt to a 200A one and getting a yellowtop. So how am I supposed to wire all of this? My HC 1800 came in today and I was lucky I ordered the side post attachments cause I'm using it as my atarter and system battery and found out it was too tall and was able to fit it in my battery tray on it's side. Damm that thing is heavy but it sure is the best battery I ever used. My system is louder with cleaner highs, tighter bass and a broader stereo image (not need for a cap now).also my RF T6004 was cool after a half an hour and my RF T6002 was a little warm wich is definatelty better than scalding hot with my stock battery. Alright, got my batteries, subs, sub amps, wires, terminal rings, HU, and crossover all figured out. Already have my highs/mids/amps. Well my trunk latch has failed, my license plate has fallen off and the back driver side door lock has stopped working sense I put in my system but.... I downloaded and cranked to the max, banged that at least three times in a row for some friends / spectators and I noticed after that the dust cap wasn't even warm. Now I take it this is a good thing (signal isnt being clipped) except does that mean I can be pushing that speaker harder? If so what should I try and do? I have my gain pretty high, my SSF is set to 30hz (box is tuned at 32hz and it just happens to be right where that song peaks for my car) and I am looking for more ideas.. thanks!

Hey well I was wondering if someone could design a box for 2 12" Mmats P2.5 its not for me but a friend and he keeps insisting on buying a prefab box or just having the guy build him one but the audio shops here suck ballz so I was just going to give my friend the design to take to the guy to build you know? Im in need of help on decision making... I just finished my wall in my car heres the details 2001 cavalier 2 dc xl 15's 8.4 cubes after dis. going to be tuned right around 36 hertz thats were i need help before i cut the holes for subs and port i need some opinions on which setup to do one sub behind each headrest and port in the middle of subs, above the subs, or below the subs.. also maybe putting one behind passenger headrest one in the middle and the port at drivers headrest which is personally the one ive heard is the best for TL numbers any opinions are helpful thanks in advance
