dont bash this idea to hard but id like to hear some thoughts on it. alittle info: dad drives a 03 f150 and his equipment right now is a Panasonic hu, polk db 5.25" coax upfront and a cheapy clarion sub (4ohm svc) in a box behind the center console in the backseat and a 2 channel amp that is bridged to the sub. amp is a walmart sony xplod... so we're talking maybe 150x2 @ 4 ohms (probably less). my idea: make him a tri way crossover... (really i just want to mess around to see if it works) so, if i understand the idea, i would set the amp to full range and design a passive xover for the speakers. so the sub would be bridged to 4 ohms and a lpf will be used @ ~70hz and …

Hey ssa, I ordered some sa-10 's and should be here in a couple of days. I need some help on the enclosure. I have about 4 cubes to work with in the back of a 97 maxima. They will be on an ap30001@ 2ohm load. and im looking to hit killer lows and sounds good. Not gearing to much for any high numbers. Dimensions port position, tuning net volume, port area. anything would help. Thanks for the help in advance.

I hope this isnt a stupid question but here it goes... I have watched a good amount of videos on clipping a signal and what to look for on a o-scope (square waves). I was just thinking what if the producer makes the waves square in production? I know a lot of dubstep artists do this. I do listen to it on my system and some djs / artists do make good low bass. Just wondering if this will just amplify the clipping of the already square signal made in production and damage my system (like clipping any other signal). <- go to about 1:40 to about 2:04 to see what I mean. He will show the signal...examples: <-- bass is WAY squared off in this songhttp://www.youtube.…

I am building my first system my car. I have done lots of research and have come up with this. Its a 2003 dodge neon. My budget is about $1000 (+-$100) I listen mainly listen to hip-hop, rap, techno (trance). Then some classic rock, some metal, and some alternative I am looking for great SQ let me repeat that SQ is the top priority in this build, but I still would like to be able to turn up the bass to loud levels and impress people I want something that will give adjustability especially the bass. Will an amp with a remote give me this adjustability? This is my list so far but I am willing to completely change it based on your suggestions. Head Unit-/link http://…

Ok, call me retarted. Good news : The jl w7 8's sound amazing, can't wait for the sundown amp to really give them what they need. It's all installed and the sealed box sounds greaT! Bad News : I had to run RCA cables outside the car to test my setup. I can't figure out how to take off the dash to wire my rca's. The remote wire was already in the car which made it easy to do. The car - 1992 Bmw 318i Sedan 4 door. Any ideas? I searched and took off all visible screws but no budge, am I missing something?

Jim Thiel of THIEL Audio was one of the pioneers of American hi-fi, and one of its biggest names, ranking up there with Henry Kloss and Paul Klipsch. Jim co-founded THIEL in Lexington, KY in 1976, and was instrumental in the development of time and phase accurate designs with the use of sloped baffles, coaxial driver mounting, and phase coherent crossover networks. Hey Jon. I want to order all my new equipment today or tomorrow but i wanted to make sure it will all fit and hookup properly i have a few questions if you knew just quick answers to any that would help alot. Setup: (2) 15" FI BL (2) Saz1500 (1) 1 trunk battery (suggestions would be great) Here's the questions... - I can only fit around 7.3 cubes before displacement so it'll come down to just under 7cubes.. This should be enough airspace since its within the recommendations of FI 3-4cubes each. (2) 6" aeroports is what i'm aiming for In order to prevent further displacement I'm considering adding a baffle to the outside of the enclosure. - Will this be a sufficient am…

I've owned my car for over 10 years, and went through 3 alpine head units, and went from a pair of JL 12W6v1s to a single SI Mag and from a 600W Crossfire amp to a 880W Massive amp. I've always had a problem when I play bass heavy songs where the song would "skip" (actually, it stops playing for a split second) when the volume's at 16 (The gains were set by ear at 15 and I would never hear distortion with the gain knob 3/4 around. And I always turn it back to less then 1/2, because my ears can tell if it was distorting). I always thought it was the amp going into protect, but I just realized that the whole song skips and not just the bass. I'm thinking if the sub amp …

It was between posting on here or in home audio but i just decided to post here.... my older brother has a Sony WM500 subwoofer that he bought a couple years back and does not use it so I decided to start a fun, little, "screw around" project. I have already taken the powered amp off the original enclosure and disconnected all the wires. Also I have taken out the actual subwoofer and taken out the power on button from the sub and I am planning on building a box for this sub. First off here is the subwoofer w/ powered amp: http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=11027875 Ok, so the box …
