Mods I'm not sure if this is the right section to post this so if not please move to the proper local...... I've recently teamed up with Arkansas Car Stereo here in Little Rock and we're looking to add a few good installers to the team, so if you've got the skills and take pride in your work then we definitely want to talk to you. You can stop by any Tue-Fri between 9-5 and ask for Mack Thompson, Jack Todd or myself Rick Holmes or you can submit your resume to Mack at [email protected] Thanks...Rick

2013 Subaru Impreza SSA Icon 12" (purchased in 2008 for a 2000 Civic Hatch EK) Sundown Amplifier (dont have model off hand, for use with subwoofer) Pioneer AVH-2400BT Headunit Been searching for a few days now on what to do with the speakers in this car and have had some difficulty. Prices I've listed are appoximate since I've not shopped around yet. What Im looking at: Front Components (6.5):-Hertz HSK165 ($380)-Morel Tempo 6 ($340) Rear:I've not had the pleasure of riding in a car with aftermarket rear door speakers, meaning only coupe style where rear speakers are often killed by a subwoofer due to proximity. I read that rear speakers should really only be replaced for…

I have heard before that port noise can be increased if the port is too close to the sub. Is there any legitimacy to this?

Hey I'm new to car audio, and I have been looking around on the forums, and I decided I want something really simple for my car. I have a 2006 MINI Cooper S, and I am looking to get a simple box and amp, I just want really clean and defined bass. http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/ele/635415308.html I've been talking to the seller of those JL and Amp for the past few days, and I think I might end up buying them, I most likely will pay around the $250 region. Is there something else I can look into around this price, new or used is okay. I need this to be quickly removable from the car as I do autocross the MINI occasionally. So a quick breakdown of that setup is JL 10W…

Hey guys I'm trying to make some test tones with Adobe Audition so I can calibrate my amp as well as my head unit. I'm using the highest sample rate in the program, 192,000, and I'm using 32 bit resolution. So I'm assuming this is the highest quality audio I can get off the computer. Anyways my question is which format should I save them as? I know that mp3 is a lossy format, and the program has like 20 different ones I can choose. The other thing is I have to able to put them onto a burnable cd, so I'm assuming that limits me to just mp3 and wav. But the program lists about 5 different wav formats, so which one should I choose? Any help would be appreciated. A/mu-Law Wav…

Heres a review of the unit. They also have a group buy at caraudio.com going for it. I read the whole thread and I seem impressed. I downloaded the plugin for windows media player and I like the way it sounds on my headphones. I don't know if I would buy the unit, but maybe in the future if more people have good results. However, it looks very promising. I am gonna copy the text here because it is hard to read at ECA. http://forum.elitecaraudio.com/showthread....threadid=109732 Okay so here it is. I feel i've tested the unit for long enough to get a good feel of what its capable of. First off i just want to say i have no connection to Waves (the maker of maxxbass) and i D…

I'm interested in this alarm. I have some feature questions, and DEI will not answer them on the phone due to "liability issues". They'll only speak to the shop owner. Well, my preferred shop owner basically contracts out a revolving alarm installer.. so neither of them are fimiliar with this alarms capabilites. I'm shocked that DEI cannot answer simple feature questions on their own product. I'm not asking what wires to cut, I just want to know what it can do basically. I want to know if the 7900 can start via a time. The computstar alarm, allows you to have the car start by time, temp, or voltage. Does the 7900 do this? Can I add a small, non lcd remote to this (DEI sa…

I was wondering how good the iPod interface is with the '05 models, and if it was worth the upgrade to a newer headunit. Thanks, Ed

alright guys well i think my stock civic door speakers finally had enough of my abuse. They are 5 1/4iches, my door panel is really shallow on my civic so im kinda limited on what i can stick in there. also when i first got my honda the speakers sounded like crap and hardly got loud. Once i put in my new h/u they sounded 10x better and got really loud, so im pron going to not use an amp for now as i dont think i need one. So i need some nice pretty shallow speakers maybe no more depth then 2 1/4 inches. What would you gets recommend that around 25-35 wrms that sound nice and get loud. Anything will be takin into account. Thanks guys

QUESTION: When an "Alternator Manufacturer" gives you an "Output at Idle" number - What do you want to hear? Most people just want to hear a high number and they're happy from that point on out.... Until they have 12.4 volts at a stoplight and 14.8 when they drive... Do you think they have been “deceived” lied to? The industry standard for an "Idle output" test is 2400 ROTOR rpm. That's approximately 800 engine rpm if you have a 3:1 pulley ratio. It’s been that way for years...& as far as today that number should really be 2000 Rotor RPM instead of 2400 because crank pulleys have got way smaller on most vehicles which makes the "Outpu…

No its not anything amazing but it is awesome to me lol. First I will list what I have planned and then I will ask my questions and ask for your feedback and advice. Thnx Vehicle - 2005 Jimmy 2door 4x4 Headunit- Pioneer DEH-80PRS (ordered) Speakers- Hertz HSK 165 6.5's 2way component up front. (unsure on install placement yet. Hey, I'm getting back into the swing of building again after a long period of no fabrication, and I'm trying to find a dual or triple bracket system for a 98 f-150 truck. I suppose I should try a metal shop or something first? Another question I have is when you got to plug in the control module or power wires do you just splice them all? Any information or experience would be helpful. Thanks

I currently have a Yamaha RV-V800 5.1 receiver and enjoy it quite a bit. I wouldn't go back to 'consumer brands' like sony, kenwood, jvc etc (no offense). RX-V800 review http://audioreview.com/PRD_125000_2718crx.aspx Receiver Comparison Yamaha receiver comparison chart. The speakers I'm currently using: Mission 701 x 4 (fronts and surrounds) Mission 70C1 (center channel) Mission 700ASi (10" powered sub) Mission 701 reveiw Mission 700 series PDF click the pic for a larger view sorry no big pic My Brother is getting married this Summer and I'm considering giving him my Yamaha 5.1 amplifier. (Is that tacky giving him a used amp.. I have original box etc). I might be intere…

I was thinking about something the other day.... would love to hear some feedback A comparison of abuse each individual component takes in your typical car audio system, (10,000 watts of power for example) SUBWOOFERS- Typically, a pair of 2500–3000-watt subs on a 10k or 10k worth of power, so real close to double its rated capacity (People blow subs daily, and recon all the time, and never say a word about the product, or quality of product. They just accept its part of the game and move on) $500 sub, $150 recon kit, EVERY time it blows. That gets expensive really quick, but still, nobody cares, they actually seem happy and proud they launc…
