Im looking into to upgrading to a high output alternator. I was searching high output alternators for 1999 ford contour and found db electrical. they sell a 220A alt for 239 plus like 20 shipping. i think thats reasonable but id like to know if its worth it. anyone have any experience with db electrical alternators? also open to suggestions on other places to look. i have a 1999 ford contour 4 cyclinder 2.0 liter. id ike to keep the cost around 2-300 but i can probably go a little higher if i have to.

Wasn't sure where to put this, so admin feel free to move. I keep hearing about Decaf and some zip files and that its really low tuned music. Could someone point me in the right direction? Where do I find it, what do I use to download it? is the quality good?

I know that subwoofers unload under tuning frequencies in vented boxes and i was wondering what makes this happen. What's the physics behind it? I tried searching for the answer and everywhere it says the same thing, subs unload under the tuning frequency. I already know that, i want to know why it happens. Thanks in advance for anyone that knows.

Instead of ordering a 8 gauge speaker terminal, waiting for it to get here then cutting a hole in my box and screwing that in.. Could I just get 2 bolts and 2 washers and screw those into my box and use those as a positive and negative post? Any tips or experiences with this? edit: im still a noob when it comes to little stuff like this, the only reason I ask is I have seen something similar done on this site.

Now, I don't stalk Steve's videos but i was just looking at one of his videos that he posted up and he explains how his "Clipping Tool" works just like a oscope. I was wondering what you guys thought about this? Personally, i think it's a really cool tool and a great idea. But at the same time i feel like it's Steve Meade just trying to get his name out again and to make more money. Just another ploy really, but it is a valuable tool it seems like. What do you guys think? EDIT: added video

and i know it boils down to personal preference, but i haven't heard either of the brands outside of youtube, and it's always very distorted because of the mic. and i actually considered basing my decision on which had the most distortion in the vids, assuming that would be the one that hit the hardest! that was actually a joke. anyway, I've reduced my choices to either soundqubed or sundown. I'm getting a 15" sub, (either x-15 or hdc15) and a 2000 watt amp, (either scv-2000 or q1-2200). I've always liked the way jl audio sounded, and initially set out for the w7, but after some extensive research i really like both the sundown and soundqubed. i like the way the soundqube…

  15. Hey guys, I have a SAZ-2000D with the X12 I just ordered going in my 2.5 cubic foot box @ 32 hz. I ordered the X12 Dual 2 ohm woofer, but now I'm having thoughts that I should've maybe ordered the Zv4. My fear is that 2k is too much for the X12. Some people mentioned that 2k for a Zv4 is low. I have no plans to upgrade in the near future, I'd like to stick with 2k. It's my daily driver so the sub will see 30 min to 1 hour of play at a time. So did I make the right choice? Will the X12 do fine with that amp? As far as I'm aware the only difference between the two is power handling. Thanks, Dylan

Ok so I got my new BTL in today and hooked up. Yes it is a D2 and yes it's wired correctly to 1 ohm. It's in the same box as my old havoc. It's on double the power as the havoc. I have a 225 amp alt and autocracy gold battery. Everything is the same setup as the havoc minus the sub and amp. It's just not that loud... I have to turn the gain up to 3/4 to even get it close to what it used to be. All radio settings are the same. I would think it would be a good bit louder, but it's just not impressing me. Any ideas? I grounds? I checked all x'overs, EQ, settings, etc. I'm lost. 4 volt pre outs.

  17. Hey guys, this is going to be my first real long post on the boards, I apologize but im trying to get as much information out there to help you help me! (Skip to "cliff" notes/questions at bottom if reading my "book" is just too much) I have been reading up on this topic for the past week and Ive got a pretty good idea on where im going with my setup but its good to hear people's experiences and advice on wether this will really achieve what im looking for. Let me start off by saying that Im not an audiophile (at least I don't think I am , and by that I mean that I probably would not be able to detect minor differences in SQ from one SQ sub to another) but I am looking …

  19. I really cant decide between running 3 6.5's per door or running 3 8's per door. I think the 8's would give a more "full" sound with better midbass. Im still considering running all Crescendo front stage since I have 2 8's in the garage and also have 2 tweeters already. I also already have 2 Rockford 6.5's. So I'm torn which way to go 3 - 8in Crescendo PWX's and 2 FT1 super tweeters per door. or 3 - 6.5in Rockford Punch Pro and 2 PP8-T super tweeters per door. I could do 2 mids and 1 tweeter per door but not sure if it will keep up at 155db+ of bass and I only want to do the doors once. Crescendo's are very heavy, large magnet, 4in deep and the FT1's are relatively…

I have noticed as of late that allot of people feel they need 3000+ watts. OK I admit I would love to have a saz 3000d or 2 or 3(lol) but I also understand that I don't have the electrical to run one let alone more than one. I think allot of newer people see big numbers and think if I get that I can do this. what they fail to realize is what it takes to to properly run at these levels. now don't get me wrong I am by no means as knowledgeable as I would like to be, But I am willing to learn and have learned a great deal from this forum. For that I would like to say thanks. I guess what I am getting at is. I have done and have heard systems that sounded great, got quite lo…

I'm going to be putting a marine speaker under the hood of my car behind the grille I want to run a kill switch into the cabin so I can only turn it on when needed I'm looking for something that will not cause me any resistance or quality loss problems I'm not real sure how to wire something like this until I see the switch but I'm guessing you only run the (+) to the switch and leave the (-) one whole wire and no i am not turning my car into an icecream truck........ its for the drive in movies Thanks and have an awesome day

I sold my Q's to a local guy with a S10 extended cab truck. He wanted to be able to see out of the back window and not wall it. There is very little room to work with but I managed to get 10.8cu after all displacement and bracing etc. Subs forward and port firing up, I have heard this is the way to go in these little S10's so hopefully it is loud and sounds good on music. This guy will be eating the steering wheel but this is what he wants, he is much smaller than me so I guess its not big deal My new shop tables, huge and I love them. The box is on the small side but hopefully it will be ok. Here is what I have done His truck is red so this subtle add of red in the…
