n the next couple weeks i plan on starting to order everything for my system so i can have it done by summer. i am stuck between the HDC312 and BTL12.... i have heard the btl in person and am in love with it, and also have heard nothing but good things from people that own them. to me they just seem like an overall better choice, but that may just be because of all the good i have heard/seen about them. the HDC312 people are telling me is comparable to the BTL12, can take just as much power as the BTL, and can get just as loud. i dont know how true that is, but if it is on the same level as the BTL i would consider buying it, especially for the price. also from what a lot…

  2. Say hello to my new little friend. No, no Hemi for me. Don't need one. Happy with a cruiser. Now, I am probably just going to throw two mpyre 65x subs in the rear deck and call it good. Toss a little amp in there......speaking of amps.....the battery for this car is already in the trunk!! Makes the install a whole lot easier. Was thinking of the in-dash navigation, but unless I can find one for next to nothing, that idea is not gonna happen. I need to find an amp to use and buy a LOC. I have a 5 channel kicker and RE SX sub I am going to get rid of to fund this stuff. I also am going to look into drop in replacement dedicated mids for the front doors. I hav…

  3. I went to college for a year and havent really been up to date w/ whats new, good, old, and what not. Last time I was here, everyone had a huge RE boner & was bashing ED, dont know if thats still goin on. Anyway, I currently have 2 Polk GNX 10's sealed in my Explorer, and am looking for something a bit louder. My system will be complete once I get a new sub. Wondering whats good out there. I have 600 watts to work w/, and my price range is 200$ MAX, for a 12" sub. I listen to a lot of rock/rap ranging from Coldplay, Tool, or 2Pac. My subs were sealed, and although they sounded good, Im still debating between ported or sealed. Personally, I really cant tell a differenc…

Alright so when I get out of college soon i plan on buying a Mitsubishi Evo as I am completely in love with them lol. Ive got an Fi BL 15 now and it just doesn't do it for me, not loud enough at all. I would love to have a ridiculously loud setup for the next car, and was considering an SUV so I can go even louder, but hate driving them. What is the loudest setup I can put in a car without walling it off and without worrying about the windshield cracking on me? Would love to stick with Fi and upgrade to btl's. Would one Fi btl 18 be too much, or two btl 15's? How many watts roughly until i have to worry about the windshield?

I know most of the members don't like elemental designs due to the owner, but how is the sound deadening? Or better yet, liquid deadening in general? My car has a horrible rattle, and it's about time I've done something. Here's the link. http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_info.php?cPath=1_24&products_id=53 For now, I think it'll be good. I'm not doing anything super serious with my setup yet, so I think it'll be good enough for now, especially at the price. While your here, how do you feel about the subs? I'm thinking about buying one from someone on craigslist for $200 in a ported box tuned to 26hz. Not sure about the tuning, but the driver itself seems legit. It's …

  8. So I'm still new to car audio and dont know all the terms or how everything works. There are two things I'm still not sure about. 1) When you set amp gains, are you actually changing the amount of power coming from the amp? As in, if I have a 1000rms amp, by setting the gains lower can I actually just put out 500rms to the sub? I've heard mixed responses, but that you are always putting out what ever the amp is rated at. Because if this is the case, can't you run like a 2000 watt amp on stock electrical, but then just dial it back to like 800 rms or so? 2) What does "full tilt mean"? Is that just volume all the way up (before clipping I'm guessing) Thanks!

Ok this is a continuation of another thread that was being hijacked. So I thought I would create it here. What? No way...... they ask u what drivers u have in the rear and u dont have any? Man thats hard to believe... but maybe thats cuz I am not properly sound deadened? I think that would make a huge difference. People usually say "hey are your rear speakers working?" cuz all the sound is coming from my front components. And there is nothing in the rear doors. I just want the people in the rear to hear as good as us in the front and I thought that wasn't possible without having some rear fill. But I dunno... If what you say is true, then I would be happy to not have an…

  14. The Termlab is the official meter for most comps around the country but it costs close to 700 and most individuals sigh away from the price. Hyperdynamics meter through ebay costs less than 100 but retails for around 350. They claim their meter is stricter than the Termlab, slightly (0.1-2.0db lower than Termlab between Db ranges of 120-170). Db ranges 171-180 have been noted to post upwards of almost 9 Db lower than Termlab. This meter also goes up to 230Db accurate whereas the Termlab goes to 180 accurate. Hyperdynamics is used to test explosions, bombs, shotgun blast, etc... The reading methods are very different as well. Termlab- Just hookup to laptop and watch your s…

Ok Hello, I have my amplifier already picked out. I've been researching this for about a month or two and am stuck on a few areas.... being pretty new to car stereos I come to you for help. The amp I have chosen is the Viper D1200 and I'm debating on my speaker selection, its between 1 Alpine 10" Type X dual voice coil and 2 Alpine 10" Type R duals... I plan to run this amp at 1 ohm. I listen to mostly death/black metal or metal in general so SQ is what I'm after mostly but I occasionally listen to some rap and I would liek a decent compromise between sq and spl. Basically I am looking for something with the ability to get really loud if I want but will run my metal fine …

So after listening to M5 and a couple other people on this forum who made great points to remove my 6.5" speakers from my rear deck I am glad you guys opened me up to a whole different world of sound in my car. Those 2-6.5" opening allow for so much bass to come through into the cabin of my car from the trunk its ridiculous, more ouput and better sound from my subs was gained. I used to be one of those guys who wanted millions of speakers in the interior of the car no matter where I could put them. I learned that the right placement, power, control(EQ'ing) would make up for more sound than a billion speakers in the ca (one friend used to tell me before I joined this site …

I'm looking for a new vehicle. Something like an suv or truck. I've been looking at Jeep Cherokee, Dodge Durango, and the Land Rover Discovery, Early 2000 models. I'm really leaning toward to Land rover as they are almost all leather with sunroofs. I was just wondering how good these cars are as far as Stock Quietness, Window seals, ability to add speakers (my next system will be a 3 way active so fitting that in there will be key.) Also if anyone knows any similar vehicles they have liked gimme a shout and I'll take a look.

  21. question 1) what in the world do i use to crimp the ring terminals on my 0g wire???? or what should i say is the best and most efficient way to do it. i mean, if i have to i will go out and buy a special tool but i wouldnt even know what tool to buy because ive never seen a crimper that big. question 2) if i have two kinetiks, one in the back & one under the hood, should i ground my amps to the negative terminal or still to the chassis? and i was also wondering do i still need to send a wire from the neg. terminal on the battery in the back back to the chassis somewhere? thanks -wes

Okay so I just got a new Dodge Dart a week ago, and I love it! It has 6x9's in the door's and obviously leave a lot to be desired. They have quite a bit of midbass, but lack everywhere else, so the fronts have to go, I don't care about the back door speakers. My Goals: - CHEAP - Decent overall Sound, plenty of midbass - Loud, Bright, not harsh. I have always been a fan of bright Silk tweets. - Keep stock HU - CHEAP - CHEAP What I have: - stock 6x9 - Alpine V-Power 50x4 - spot for an 8" sub in the rear deck. - Line out for factor HU - spot in dash firing up for up to a 3" mid/ tweeter - LPG 26 tweeters I bought when I was going to go active with some CDT ES-06. What I need…

What i can think of so far from watching you guys is... Dire Straits - Money for Nothin' -for the switching between channels at the very beginning of the song Now i need more, and need to know what to listen for. I need something with quick bass that isn't heavy metal, is that so much to ask for? How about a song with good lows that isn't rap? Some songs that i …
