Heya guys, I'm starting a somewhat crazy build. I've run several sims and I just cannot viably fit a large slot ported box in the car. So.... I'm looking at .75 mdf double baffled top 21" x 24.5" x 20.75" giving 4.8 gross cubes. I'm bracing the box with rod iron. I was looking a putting 2x 4" ports and tuning the box to around 32hz, with a single zv4 18 on a crescendo bd2000. My question is do you guys think I should give a third 4" port and give up a tad of airspace? 3x 4" 16.5"long ports should give a tuning of ~34 hz. I could also go with a single 6" port, but I don't have the room in the car or box to put two 6" ports There is very little more room in the car afte…

  3. lol funny topic but true..heres the deal..latly i been really thinking if i need 4 18's since i will never compete and with all these noise violation laws..i think 2 18's will be enough for me..if they are not then no biggie just order 2 more..but heres the deal..do you guys think its justifiable to spend $1200 on sound deadening on just 2 18's? am i going over board? the plan is to go single layers on doors and double up every where else..which consists of 240 sq ft of damp pro and 160 sq ft of damp regular..so what you guys think? i just dont want to feel like the fools who buy rims that cost 3-5 times more then there car is worth..lol

well here's the deal. I've been into music production and recording engineering for a few years now. I've just recently got the idea to incorporate these skills into my car audio hobby. I'm posting a song below which I produced myself that peaks around 43-48 hz. I know it's not quite as low as most of you like to pound to, but hey it's my first attempt at making one of these. I'd like to get some feedback from you guys as to what you think I should do as far as going about making these tracks. I'd love to continue making them for the fellow members to use in their demo's/videos. If you guys could check out the song, download it and try it out and leave some feedback and/…

I've been out of the game for a while, and I'm hoping for some good recommendations. I installed my system about 6 years ago and haven't really upgraded it since them. Then some guy decided it would be fun to break my rear window and steal my subwoofer and amps. Gone is my Soundsplinter RL-p15 and some old school PPI amps. Not to mention my custom-molded fiberglassed enclosure and amp rack. Sigh. So like I said, I've been out of the game for a while, and I preemptively apologize for the newbie question. But I'm hoping that someone can toss out a quickie listing of the internet-favorite subs right now so I can focus my research a bit. I'll probably downgrade to a 12" sub s…

  10. OK so as you guys know im overseas in germany right now. i went to a local car shop today and asked how much it would cost to build me a box for my Massive Audio DMX stg2 subwoofer and he quoted me 150-200 euros which is about $200-$300 for this build. the box would be made of MDF and will be carpeted. i asked about bracing and if he could build it in birch instead he didnt know what that was. the language barrier owns me and this guy. I asked him if i got the materials if he could build the sub and he said yes. so theres an option. I hear Birch is stronger and lighter, but harder to cut and you have to prep and sand the area, blah blah. anyway is this a good deal? I was …

Ant at Second Skin just got about $450 and the guys at Knu around $250. Bulk pack of Damplifier Pro and 4 sheets of Lux Liner Pro. That should be enough for a King Cab I would think. 50' of 1/0 KLMX, 40' of 4ga KLMX, 20' of Karma 10ga speaker wire, 100' of Karma 16ga and 2 pairs of Klarity 4m RCAs. All wiring hardware is getting reused from the previous system and is Stinger Xpert. Build log will begin in about a month.

I have a friend in America that keeps saying Fiat Panda gets very loud and I should buy one for my project. It has something to do with the vehicle's acoustics and the shape of the car... like Honda CRX's. Sean and Jacob are at SBN right now, and Sean said there is a Panda ... Something like 158db - 2 x 15's In Bulgaria I can find some Pandas for cheap... the cheapest one is 350$ ! And some better ones for about 500-700$. What do you guys heard about Pandas? Is it true about them and SPL? I am thinking about two Nightshades 18's or 15's if there is not enough space. Wall or no wall? If I go with a wall does the vehicle really matter that much? With a box somewhere in …

Hey guys I stopped by a local car audio shop today and talked with a salesmen for almost an hour. 90% of their products are Kenwood and he swears by them. He had a lot to say and I was just wondering if it was true because there were some things I have never heard. He said that running an amp at 1 ohm is a bad idea because the sound quality drops significantly. He also said that you should spend more on your box than on your subs because the box is responsible for 75% of your bass. He also had very little good to say about Fi or sundown but that scosche is a very well respected for their sub woofers and amps I don't know if any of it is true or not but if you guys have an…

Here is what i have and what i am trying to do. I have a 2003 Saab 9-3 with 7 speakers from Factory (3 on the dash, front doors, and rear deck). I have 4 sets of Kenwood Components that i wish to install in addition to the 7. I will be replacing the 7 factory speakers with 7 Kenwood so i can keep the sound consistent. My Idea is to install a pair of speakers into the back doors. I am in the process of making a new custom fiberglass Rear deck which has holes for the Original speakers and a slot in the center for 1 component set. I am going to build a new center storage compartment so that i can place my last component set there. What i am looking to do with wiring is t…

I'm a lurker overe here. I'll read the board from time to time but never really post. Alot of familiar names around here though. Figured I'd post this over here as well to get some feedback. http://community.webshots.com/album/24687221wpDWUOwhuS All comments are welcome; good, bad, or otherwise. I finally got most of the install done in preparation for the SI.Net Midsouth Meet. Only thing left now is to build a stealth cover for the 8W7, build some underdash padding, and get a dashmat. Most of this stuff was in the car before (front stage, amps), but I swapped the amps around giving my front components 125wpc and knocking the sub down to 300w since the 8W7 didn't need t…

I am having major issues with my rear doors opening about 3/4 inch every time my bass hits. It's actually starting to dent the jams and chip the paint. On top of that it is loud and I can't figure out a way to solve this issue since I need the doors to remain functional. Any ideas or input would be greatly appreciated.
