i have an FI sp4 15 in a 2007 nissan altima and recently i tried moving my box around to fire forward like a sealed off trunk. I put it as close to the cab as i could and put pillows and sheets all around the box stuffing it as well as i could, and it wasnt as loud (sounding) as firing it towards the trunk. i then folded my back seats closed and put my box in the cab on the seats so that it was completely sealed off from the trunk ( i have a small box and plan on getting a bigger better one) i tested it out and it was even quieter, like a lot quieter, it had less pressure on the ears, less airflow and everything. Ive talked to people and they say sealing off the trunk s…

I was wondering if anyone could tell me or help point me in the right direction on calculating power for the system I plan on building this winter I was wondering what the math problems to figuring out your reserve(batteries), usage(amplifiers) and charging(alt.) would be? And was wondering if there are any websites or post I could check out to find this info?

So i've been working on box design for my new SA-15's. For external dimensions i have: 32 wide x 20.5 tall x 24 deep for 7.55 cubic feet before port volume or displacement. Wood thickness is .75" Then for a port, i would have the dimensions 30.5" wide , 4" tall and then 18.16" deep. I got the port dimensions from CarStereo.com. According to that site, the box is tuned to 32hz. I was wondering if that was correct or not because i know tons of those sites end up being wrong with tuning. Here's a picture describing my plan. The lines in that picture are parallel... I don't know why the camera says differently. So does that sound alright? If not, can someone please correct m…

I have a 1.3 ft^3 vented box tuned to 33 hz and an Audioque 1200w amp. I placed an order for a GCON-10d2 so I can have plenty of head room and keep the gain down on the amp. My goal is "SQL", not looking to flex all my body panels. I chose this particular size box and sub so I can keep most of my trunk space available. I keep thinking I should have chosen a more powerful subwoofer that can handle ~1000w RMS (ie. FI SSD or AQ HDC3, etc) I'd hate to order a new sub just to wait even longer for the build time. I listen to rap, R&B, techno, dance, dubstep... All advise and recommendations is much appreciated. Thanks!!

  13. I have been ripped off, sold short, and stolen from in this hobby plenty of times. I have never ripped anyone off, ripped equipment off of anybody, or lied about any piece of equipment I have sold. Karma came back around again today in my favor, as I received a BNIB Fi BL 15" from an ebay purchase. Cost me 250$ shipped. =] Keep it real when it comes to selling your stuff and it will come back around! It has for me! =]

Not sure if there is a thread for this already? if so please let me know, id love to see it! so far i enjoy watching some of "exoabigdeal" videos. hes done some stuff with SSA equipment also. and caraudiofabrication is another good one. and ericthecarguy showtimeSPL prefer channels that explain how things work, to learn about the equipment and that show different neat builds, some that everyday people can do, and sometimes more advanced things being done thats cool to watch for example from exoabigdeal with SSA 15 inch subs. 8 of them.... lol 8! anyone else?

I'm going to mount my amp vertically on the side of my enclosure, anyone have any tips or suggestions for reducing vibration? I've read where people mounted them straight on the box then ruined the amp after heavy playing... So should I mount the amp to some mdf with rubber grommets then have that mount to the side of the enclosure? Any help would be appreciated

My neighbor recently got a 2003 acura tl type s and want's a system. so far he's picked up kenwood dnx 9140 morel tempo 6 mb quart dsc 2150 ( does 150x2@4 ohm) kinetik hc800 for upfront 2 rolls of rammat bxt for doors, trunk lid, floor, and rear deck. He picked up a sundown 3000d locally but it didn't fit on the seat back so he sold it. Considering 2 amps and possibly a battery in the back we'll have about 4-4.5 cubes net to work with. Trunk dimensions are Width=30 Depth=25 Height=15 Guy has the most diverse taste ever. One minute he can be listening to Jeezy the next he's listening to Sade or Tiesto. Since im a noob myself i didn't know what to recommend him. Budget…

  21. I am getting back in the game again! I have never done a trunk build before but had a few 150db + systems before so I'm looking for some answers. I have an 05 Nissan Sentra and I want to do a "trunk wall" build. I want to run two 15s and I want to play some nasty lows an move tons of air and be in the mid to high 140s. I'm considering the Dayton UM15-22 in a sealed enclosure around 6.5 cubes on 2-3k. I'm just curious if anyone have any input on these subs for car audio applications! I am interested because they play very low an they prefer sealed enclosures. I'm just wondering how they will perform in a car audio environment!

Currently I have 2 Fi Q12s fully loaded built with high quality for sealed enclosures. I will be getting 07+ Silverado crew cab. What would have the most "SQL"/SPL? "SQL" comes before SPL. I have thought about 4 sundown sa-8s. Any other suggestions? Still not sure if I will be able to fit the Q12s in the truck. Spending no more than $1000 on speakers. Will be keeping my Brutus brz2400 to push out 2400 watts at 1 ohm

Well, I picked one of the $100 ones up for a cheap alternative for some subbass. First impressions: The build quality is extraodrinary. Everything is aligned perfectly. There is not a hint of excessive glue used which is commonplace on a lot of subs today available from certain buildhouses. The finish on the driver is superb. The basket seems to be a little weak for the motor structure, but hey, it was a lot of "leftover parts" assembled very well into a quite impressive looking driver. IT came with a four-piece, self-adhesive foam surround for rear sealing, with a very attractive front rubber piece that just seems to flow into, or out from the surround. I wish ot…

Hey, what's up everybody? So, I've got this build going: My Build I'm working on the battery rack and would like to get some thoughts on this design I've got. I've changed it up a little bit from what I had in my build. Let me know what you think, what you'd change, maybe what some of you have done or are doing now. Now some pics: Here is deal. Chevy Suburban with the batteries between the frame rails where the spare tire would be. Here we are looking down on the setup. Looking from the bottom up. Here is a close up of the hanger. The tangerine pieces are 1/4" plate. The gray angles are 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" by 1/8" thick angle irons. The hangers are held in place to the fra…
