I was listening to my Fi Bl 12 today when it began to make a tapping sound. I assumed it was the dustcap, so i stopped my truck to check and found nothing wrong. I noticed the noise at a low volume, and when i turned the volume up it was gone. About 30 minutes later, while i was listening to shizzzons rendition of Dream On, my amp pooped out and began to smell. It also made the tapping noise i was describing earlier for a few seconds before it shut down. I pushed on the cone of my sub and did not notice any "jump" or hear any noise. So im not sure who is the culprit. Is my amp to blame, or did i blow my sub and that caused my amp to fail? amp is aq1200

I've been looking for new components for my 4Runner almost as long as I've been posting at SSA. The JBL P650C comps have served me dutifully (if not spectacularly) over the last couple years. I've never been able to find a quality set at a reasonable price that would fit in my doors without modification. I believe that the Hybrid Audio Clarus C51-2's will fit in there fine. I can't seem to track down the depth measurements in any of the Hybrid manuals, so I'm not comfortable that the C61-2's will fit. Can anyone recommend another high-quality 5-6" woofer with a shallow depth? As a point of reference, I also have a set of Seas CA18RLYs that won't fit. The basket won'…

So I've decided that I don't like this 38-39hz tune at all. We have 9.5 cubes (after disp) current port is a 12.5 sonotube @14.5" long I can maybe stretch it 17" maybe, but all that extra port will be external. But that's only 36-37hz 12" doesn't help much either... If I can find a 11.5" sonotube I can get to 34hz @17" long 12.5"=122.6sqin of port=12.9sqin per cube 11.5"=103.8sqin of port=10.9sqin per cube Most people's rule of thumb for round to slot port is 3-4" so 12.9sqin per cube =15-16.9sqin per cube 10.9=13-14.9 So what do you ladies think?

I was given the link to this sound deadener and know nothing about it, not saying that's a bad thing because it is not, but I want to know if anyone on here has ever used this brand or know of this brand of deadener from any experience. I am still new at this and want to get the most bang for my buck.....or as much non bang for my buck lol. Let me know, also no bashing, this is an honest question for an honest answer from those who have experienced this brand not a bash the question, or bash the brand thread. Thanks guys. Also if this is some good product, it should save a lot of people some money. (Not a comparison thread) http://www.ebay.com/itm/181430771921?afsrc=1

Well Ive wanted an oscope for a while now and crt scopes are a little out of the price range even used ones. Im wondering if the hand held ones with the lcd screens would have enough resolution to see a clipping sine wave. Ive seen the video how the were showing how bass boost is bad but cant really tell how good the resolution of the lcd screen due to video quality. Ive used crt scopes in electronic classes and wondering how lcd compares to crt So who here has used the lcd scopes and are they sufficient enough for car audio. I used crt scopes in electronic classes Heres what im looking at http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cf...tnumber=320-290

So a friend of mine (much older) said he used to compete 15 years ago and did a 151.3 on 4 15" mtx 500 watt subs on a Phoenix gold 1000.1 competition amp in the trunk of a thunderbird. But when describing his system (had all the normal great things to do for car audio) but one thing I found curious was he routed part of his AC to go on the bass amp. And he said that helped keep his amp crazy cold, and he could make that amp produce much more then 1000 watts "because of the amp temp and the good voltage" he estimated close to 2,000 watts. Anyone have any thoughts on the AC thing? I thought it was a cool idea I know everyone uses fans and such, and I don't know what kinda w…

Hey guys I am currently debating on which sub to go with for my girlfriends car. here is what i have narrowed it down to the SA12 http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/store/products/Sundown-Audio-SA%252d12.html or the VVX 12 http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/store/products/VVX%252d12%22-Sub-Woofer.html the pricing for both are similar which is good but i have yet to deal with either of those above listed subs. So i would like some input and Yes i know ppl tend to like the SA12's but has anyone used the VVX subs yet? a little more about the build is the car is an 07 hyd elantra we are keeping it stock and just using a LOC (line out converter) for the sub stage. I'm a lurker overe here. I'll read the board from time to time but never really post. Alot of familiar names around here though. Figured I'd post this over here as well to get some feedback. http://community.webshots.com/album/24687221wpDWUOwhuS All comments are welcome; good, bad, or otherwise. I finally got most of the install done in preparation for the SI.Net Midsouth Meet. Only thing left now is to build a stealth cover for the 8W7, build some underdash padding, and get a dashmat. Most of this stuff was in the car before (front stage, amps), but I swapped the amps around giving my front components 125wpc and knocking the sub down to 300w since the 8W7 didn't need t…

One of my friends wants a sub but cant spend more then $200 bucks. He has an after market head unit so no need for a converter. So I was thinking its about $40 for the wiring kit I have an old image dynamics 12 in a huge ported box just laying around I can sell him so he just needs an amp he has around $100 left to spend on one so any ideas on the best $100 amp let me know.

Guys, Need some help/advice. Here's the story... When I play this specific song my bass cuts-off. There's no more sound coming from my sub. I have 1000's of songs and this title is the ONLY one that cuts it off ALL the time. It's psybient (Chillout) music My amp is an Orion D1200 Sub is an SSA ICON 12" D2 connected in series. I tried in series (4 ohms) and parallel (1 ohm) and it still cuts-off!! My simple question is WHY? I apologize in advance for my lack of knowledge on the matter. Here's the title if you need it: (It's got major bass) http://www.sendspace.com/file/uxy0yn Artist/song title: Cell/A Figliulina

does anyone put a fuse between your subs and amp? just wondering because i used to have some g5's and they had fuses to hook them up at 8 ohms or 2 ohms. "seen several other woofers with fuse systems like some jvc's" just wondering is it a good idea to fuse them or bad idea?

hey all, i'm not sure if this is in the right forum or not so if it's not please move it. i am looking into buy new subs and changing enclosures. i know there are some on this site who bulid their own enclosures. i don't want anything custom and crazy just something that will do the job and give me good sound quality. are there any how to's on making your own enclosure and also how to tune them? i've heard that tuning the enclosure is important but i don't know anything about this. i've seen them done on a tv show called unique whips and the guy finishes them in about 30 minutes. is it really this simple? any help would be very helpful.
