I have looked around and seen a system I would like to get rigged up. It's 2 Alpine SWR-1222D's powered by a Hifonics 1606D wired in at 2ohms in a 3ft^ ported enclosure tuned to 35hz.??? Im a little iffy about the box. It sounds like it would be good to me. Thanks in Advance ~MadroX

  2. Well, as if two SP4 18's isnt big enough, lol After doing measurements I have enough room for 3, so I just ordered another one. So now I have time to build a new enclosure and not have any down time which is cool. I ordered another Dual 1ohm. So now becomes the question of amp and ohm load choice. After looking at my wiring options I think it will work perfect. For at least a couple months I need to run all three off this one Crescendo BC5500. Which I actually think will be ok for now and get loud. Three dual 1's will wire to a .67ohm load which I think that will be fine if I'm thinking correctly and hopefully put out close to 2000 watts per sub. My electrical is very sta…

  3. I'm building an enclosure for 4 12in Solo Barics, 2007 models. The question I have is he's already got the gear and he bought one of the really long, thin Memphis 4000 watt mono amplifiers. Does anyone have any experience with these? I personally think it's overpriced. I'm hoping it turns out to be a decent amp but I want to make sure the setup goes well for him.

Well as much as it pains me to have done it the x-cons have been sold to stefanhinote. I was in the search of more SPL and i made a final decision on two 15" BTL N2s. Let me tell everyone now by no means are the x-cons quiet i recently got a 148.2 on music sealed. Thats in a box tuned to 30hz and not the optimal port area for spl. Mind you while doing this they sound simply amazing. Ill never stop supporting SSA and i can tell you guys now my next car will be another set of x-cons for everyday ground pounding. For now though i wanna compete and its time to move to something louder.

BEWARE WHEN BUYING FROM ONLINECARSTEREO.COM. THEY REMOVE SERIAL NUMBERS FROM JL AUDIO, ALPINE, INFINITY, FOSGATE, KENWOOD, KICKER, PIONEER, CLARION JBL AND FEW MORE. BY DOING THAT YOU DONT HAVE WARRANTY. THEY CLAIM YOU CAN SEND IT BACK BUT ALL THEY DO IS HOLD ON TO IT FOR A FEW WEEKS AND THEY SEND YOU THE SAME DEFECTIVE. ALSO, THEY DONT HAVE ANYTHING IN STOCK MOST OF THE TIME SO THEY CHARGE YOUR CARD AND ISSUE YOU A FAKE TRACKING # TO MAKE YOU BELIEVE THAT IT SHIPPED BUT IN ALL ACTUALITY THEY ARE USING YOUR MONEY FOR A FEW DAYS IF NOT WEEKS AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THEY SAY "ITEM OUT OF STOCK". when someone who thinks he knows a lot about car audio (and he doesnt) and has a lot of money braggs 24/7 about what he has? this one guy in my area has MTX throughout his car. i think he has 2 12 8500 subs and a 1000 watt amp. anyways, he always says MTX is the shiznit and that nothing even comes close. he also told me that MTX RULES the competition. i brought up RE and FI and he was like nope, MTX would KILL them all. lmao. this has prob been posted before with different people, but imo, it all depends on the install, and more so, the persons taste in music and what he thinks sounds good. im not saying mtx sucks, but im sure it is not THE ABSOLUTE BEST. everyone has th…

I have been too scared to even start on removing my door panels to complete my install and put in some mid bass drivers / tweets. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with 07 / 08 tahoes / avalanches and knew the right way to take the door panels / pillars out without breaking anything. After searching around for a while I couldn't find anything. I really don't want to mess it up too much.... it's basically brand new. (like 18's won't vibrate it apart anyway)..... Any help would be appreciated.

alright guys well i think my stock civic door speakers finally had enough of my abuse. They are 5 1/4iches, my door panel is really shallow on my civic so im kinda limited on what i can stick in there. also when i first got my honda the speakers sounded like crap and hardly got loud. Once i put in my new h/u they sounded 10x better and got really loud, so im pron going to not use an amp for now as i dont think i need one. So i need some nice pretty shallow speakers maybe no more depth then 2 1/4 inches. What would you gets recommend that around 25-35 wrms that sound nice and get loud. Anything will be takin into account. Thanks guys

well guys, i'll be moving into my dorm in less than a month now so i need to figure out what to do about a system i have a Yamaha RX-500U for the receiver, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...eName=WDVW&rd=1 says it's 50wpc x 2 but i know it has 4 channels and they're 6 ohm stable stereo/12 ohm stable mono my plan was to use the rear 2 channels to hook up a PE 250w plate amp with the speaker level inputs and run that to my RL-i8s at 4 ohms, i won't have my car so i might as well put the subs to good use, i need suggestions for box size and tuning frequency and then, i dont know what to do about my mids/highs, i want you guys' input on this i have these to wor…

My amp's been kicking into protect for no known reason, I've checked every possible connection and wire, and undervoltage is impossible, this is an Atomic 800.1 with a Battcap 2000 in the trunk of my car. I put in a tone cd playing 60hz, put a DMM on the 200 AC voltage setting, touched + and - respectively on the amp outputs then turned the HU up until the amp shut down and we're reading 8.4 volts before shutdown 8.4 x 8.4 = 70 watts am I correct or have I completely lost it? Please don't just jump on me for using a DMM, I know it's not the best way, it's just the most accessible way for me to find wtf is going on.

Currently I have one 15" XCON in a ported box powered by a DC Audio 5K at 2 ohms (2300 watts nominal). I built the box with .75" birch and double walled the whole box. I am thinking about getting the new IA Death Penalty and stepping down to a 12" sub. My question is, do you think I should build a double walled box for the 12" DP on a DC 5K at 2 ohms? I don't really want to mess around with dowels for bracing and fiberglass to hold them in. And the XCON is great, I love it, but I have wanted a Death Penalty for a long time and need to step down in size so I can get some trunk room back for an air tank and compressors.

So, I am going to be building a C-Pillar wall in my SUV soon and my brother has been arguing with me for days now saying its an accident waiting to happen. He thinks that its very dangerous to have a daily driver setup with a C-Pillar wall because it will obstruct blind spots and other things. Anyone with a third row wall have any opinion on this?

Guys was thinking of installing a dual alternator for my new project. My questions are: i. My current stock alternator is rated at 60 amps. If I were to upgrade to a bigger alternator, would there be a risk of frying the electrical with a higher current alternator? Or can I just replace it without upgrading my battery to bigger ones? ii. If I were to install 2 alternator, what do I have to do? Can I just wired 2 alternators together or do I have to add external regulators or relay? Since its very hard to find bigger size of alternator in my place, I was planning to install dual 90 or 100 amps to my car and also upgrade the big 3. Anyone has more info in upgrading alter…

  23. Hey, I'm getting back into the swing of building again after a long period of no fabrication, and I'm trying to find a dual or triple bracket system for a 98 f-150 truck. I suppose I should try a metal shop or something first? Another question I have is when you got to plug in the control module or power wires do you just splice them all? Any information or experience would be helpful. Thanks

For most of the enclosures iv seen, they have separate chambers for each sub. Is this the way it is recommended to be done? Or will it also work with having both subs sealed in one box? Im simply trying to expand my knowledge about box building and I know you guys will help.

I hope this isnt a stupid question but here it goes... I have watched a good amount of videos on clipping a signal and what to look for on a o-scope (square waves). I was just thinking what if the producer makes the waves square in production? I know a lot of dubstep artists do this. I do listen to it on my system and some djs / artists do make good low bass. Just wondering if this will just amplify the clipping of the already square signal made in production and damage my system (like clipping any other signal). <- go to about 1:40 to about 2:04 to see what I mean. He will show the signal...examples: <-- bass is WAY squared off in this songhttp://www.youtube.…
